Black Dynamite: [deadpan] "I AM smiling."
Had it not been for this summer's "District 9," I would still be calling Sundance fave "Black Dynamite" my top movie pick of the year. It's a movie that is easy to describe and yet impossible to truly appreciate without actually seeing it. Essentially a blaxploitation send-up, but played partially straight (sort of), Michael Jai White stars as the titular bad mofo, kicking ass and not worrying about anyone's names.
If you're thinking "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka," you're close... but not quite there. "Dynamite" is at once more serious and more over-the-top. I'm so tempted to spoil the end, as it's a big selling point... I'm not going to though. Watch the new trailer and be sold anyway.
