Hard to picture, right? The lovely Megan Fox, star of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and the upcoming "Jennifer's Body," caged up as a circus freak? Makeup can do a lot, sure, but is anyone going to want to buy Fox as anything less than a beautiful angel?
Probably not. It's a good thing then that she'll pretty much be one in writer/director Mitch Glazer's "Passion Play," In last week's "Behind the Screen" interview, Fox revealed to MTV's Josh Horowitz that she'll star opposite Mickey Rourke as a caged circus freak with angel-like wings growing out of her back, a role for which she had previously been rumored. Rourke will play her savior, in what the actress says "is clearly not going to be a typical [love story]."
I hadn't heard a peep about this project before today, but I'm keyed in now thanks largely to Glazer's involvement. "Passion Play" will be his directorial debut, but Glazer has written a number of features in the past, including Richard Donner's "Scrooged," a personal favorite of mine.
Between that and the unusual (semi?) romantic pairing of Fox and Rourke, this project is shaping up to be something decidedly different. That could be a bad thing of course, but the players involved all have enough talent to make this zany idea work. And really, isn't it enough that we'll all get to see Fox finally unfurl those angel wings she always keeps hidden from the public eye?
Fox + Rourke = what? Are you intrigued by "Passion Play"? Terrified? What does Glazer's involvement do for you?
