Monday being Labor Day, many of us hard-working folk plan to spend the day off by liberally applying suntan lotion to our backsides and resting beneath the sun. But Kevin Smith won't stand for that -- no, he has a devious plot to keep us inside all day long.
According to a press release, Smith is promising to conduct a 24-hour online Q&A via Twitter beginning on Labor Day morning. The filmmaker, currently working on the to-be-renamed "A Couple of Dicks," will hold the "Tweet-A-Thon" in part to promote "Shootin' the Sh-- with Kevin Smith," his upcoming book.
"This is not news at all," Smith said of the impending all-day Q&A. "In fact, it's kinda stupid. But I wanna see if I can do it. I've been training for this my whole life, simply by being a lazy fat-ass who'd rather stare at a screen than better himself with a brisk constitutional. Someone asked what my training regiment is gonna be, and I told them I've already stockpiled lots of Count Chocula."
Thanks to "Clerks," "Mallrats" and his other pop culture-imbued movies, most of us have already heard Smith's witty, fictionalized debates about the merits of "Star Wars" versus "Lord of the Rings" and why the destruction of the Death Star was immoral, but this is your opportunity to engage in such a debate with Silent Bob himself.
Beyond such geek-driven arguments, Smith will field questions about his past, present and future film work, his inspirations, his favorite food, his greatest grievances, what color shorts he's wearing -- anything you want to know! After all, the press release promises that "Smith will answer as many questions as he can over the course of the day."
If you're not already on Twitter -- which you should be, so you can follow your friendly neighborhood MTV Movies Blog all the live long day -- you'll need to join in order to present your questions to Mr. Smith, who can be found under the user name @ThatKevinSmith.
Has Kevin Smith's Labor Day initiative changed your Monday plans? What would you like to ask the fan-favorite filmmaker?
