David Slade may be experiencing some frustrations on the set of "Eclipse" right now, but none of them are coming from his lead cast members, according to his tweets today. The director spoke highly of "Twilight" lovebirds Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but had less complimentary things to say about airplane noise overhead.
Director Kevin Smith, meanwhile, offered up some self-deprecating commentary on his appearance in the new full-length "Degrassi" movie, "Degrassi Goes Hollywood," where he returned to hob-nob with his favorite Canadian teen-stars. And speaking of teen-stars, I've got a shot of Frankie Muniz's recent hand injury in the Twitter Pic of the Day. Have a look at that along with other pics from Rachelle Lefevre and Neil Gaiman. Those and more lurk below in the the Twitter-Wood report for August 25, 2009. Read more...

Chris Nolan, also known as the man who gave Batman a new lease on life in celluloid, is busy now with his super-secret next project, "Inception." We've asked stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard -- who both have roles in the movie -- for details, but neither would say anything. Jerks.
I don't mean that Joe and Marion. Really! Why don't you give me a call... we'll talk about the weather, the local sports teams, maybe even little about "Inception"? No? Drat.
Well the movie isn't out until summer 2010 according to the teaser, so the curious among us have plenty of time to concoct our own crazy theories. Like everyone in the world is actually playing out a cleverly created virtual reality routine while machine masters toil in the real world, using human beings as their power source. What do you mean 'that's been done before'? Fine! What are your theories. Check out the "Inception" teaser Stop Motion image gallery by clicking the pic below.

“Adventureland” is a great little movie that came out last April, got strong reviews, and then, for reasons that call into question the whole concept of justice, sank from sight after taking in a pathetic $16 million. Happily, the film was released on DVD today, and so those who missed it or ignored it or otherwise showed it no love now have a chance to make things right.
It’s a movie about young love, youthful confusion and dumb summer jobs. This doesn’t begin to sum it up, but then neither did the film’s trailer (which may have been part of the original problem). Kristen Stewart gives a performance in this picture that outclasses anything she’s yet been called upon to do in the vampire franchise with which she’s currently involved. And she’s ideally teamed with Jesse Eisenberg, at his skittery, hyper-intelligent best; and Ryan Reynolds as a predatory older guy with enough of a soul left to realize what a scumball he is. With all of the "Halloween II" hubbub on the blog this week, I feel compelled to focus today's eBay Prop-Watch on the franchise in some way. There are no actual props up for auction from the upcoming movie -- or any of the other movies -- but this is a pretty cool item nonetheless. You know, if you're into things that look terrifying.
Michael Myers, the mask-wearing antagonist of the "Halloween" series, is a scary dude. He's smarter than the ruthless killing machine that is Jason Voorhees of the "Friday the 13th" movies. Myers isn't after rowdy teens; his motives are specific, and the victims his brutal killings are carefully selected. You don't want to get in his way of course, but if you're a pot-smoking, beer-drinking teen who has no prior history with Myers, you're probably going to be safe. Probably. With today's prop, you could certainly convince your friends otherwise though! Read more...

I'd like to compare director Peter Jackson's adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel "The Lovely Bones" to the Robin Williams-starring 1998 flick "What Dreams May Come." Only I get the distinct whiff of awesome from Jackson's effort where "What Dreams" smacked more of pop psych mediocrity. Plus, "Bones" totally has the better title.
I still haven't read the book, but the more I see images like the exclusive one posted after the break the more I consider adding it to my Kindle queue. The moon is the sky is definitely a clock of some sort and the gazebo in the middle of the lake... I wonder what's up with that. For those who are in the dark, "Bones" follows 14 year old Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) through her own, personal heaven as she watches her friends and loved ones deal with the grief of losing her. Hit the jump to peep our exclusive look at the movie, which hits theaters on December 11. Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Rob Zombie's "Halloween II" hits theaters August 28, and with the multi-talented creator serving as Guest Editor over on MTV Movies Blog, we couldn't help but pick his brain about comics, too. Given his decision to publish "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto" as a comic prior to its big-screen release, we know he's a comic fan—but what's on his subscription list these days?
We asked Zombie that very question during a recent shoot in—of all places—New York City's Abracadabra Magic & Costumes shop. While he confessed to not being up on current comics, he did recommend some work by one of his favorite creators.

"Ninja Assassin" is looking badass, no question. Aside from sporting one of the greatest movie titles to come along this year -- seriously, it sounds like an awesome kung-fu exploitation flick imported from the '70s -- it also features the considerable talents of Asian pop star Rain, as the titular martial artist, and "V for Vendetta" James McTeigue. In a recent interview with MTV, McTeigue had nothing but positive things to say about his star.
To hear more about the movie's plot and some words from Rain himself, head over to MTV.com for Eric Ditzian's Fall Preview report on "Ninja Assassin." Also, hit the jump to peek at an EXCLUSIVE photo. Of what? Rain being a badass, 'natch. Read more...

For me, Rob Zombie is the most frustrating filmmaker out there. I've been following the guy's career since high school -- which was more than a decade ago at this point -- and enjoying his creative output through all of it. Ever since he made the transition into serious filmmaking, I can't keep up anymore. Whatever source feeds into the twisted imagery he conceives, it's the same one that manifests in my worst nightmares. In short, he's too good at making things terrifying.
That said, I'm glad it's working for him. Remaking a horror classic like "Halloween" is a ballsy thing to do, and yet Zombie made it work well enough -- and with his own signature flourishes -- that a sequel has already arrived. Well not quite, as "Halloween II" hits theaters this Friday. But we're in the home stretch now, as you can see in our red carpet photo gallery from last night's premiere.

Sam Worthington is a peculiar Hollywood story. The Australia-born actor is already a common name in geek circles thanks to his work on "Terminator Salvation" and "Avatar," but one of those films was critically panned and the other one hasn't even been released yet.
Still, there's something undeniably refreshing about a guy who can identify a rotten egg even if it came from his own barn, so to speak. Sci Fi Wire caught up with Worthington during a group interview, in which the actor spoke about "Terminator"'s shortcomings in pretty specific terms. Aside from admitting to the film's complete lack of humor, Worthington pointed out some continuity gaffs that one wouldn't expect to hear from the movie's leading man. Read more...

Chicks on roller skates. That's how I've chosen to sell "Whip It" to you male readers. Chicks. On. Roller skates. They're kickass ladies too, the lot of them. Ellen Page, Kristen Wiig, Drew Barrymore, Juliette Lewis, Zoe Bell, Ari Graynor, Alia Shawkat... like I said, kickass ladies. But then, that's what happens when you make a movie about an all-girl roller derby team.
I'm not entirely clear on the plot, but I do know a little something about the setup. Page stars as Bliss, a young Texan who rebels by joining a roller derby league after she grows tired of her mother (Marcia Guy Harden) pushing her to participate in beauty pageants. The script comes from Shauna Cross, adapted from her book "Derby Girl," and the movie is directed by Drew Barrymore, her feature debut. Hit the jump for the full poster. Read more...
