"Men Who Stare at Goats," the new George Clooney and Ewan McGregor film about psychic soldiers, kicked off a flurry of commentary on Twitter this week, and at least one producer out there loves Jeff Bridges' role.

There's been a lot of real-life drama sweeping through the Twitter-Wood feed as well this week, including Ted Kennedy's death and memorial service and the wildfires in Los Angeles that have forced thousands of residents out of their upscale L.A. neighborhoods. Shannon Elizabeth caught a shot of the fires from her living room window, which you can find below. It's all there along with Miley Cyrus and a factoid you likely never knew about Clive Barker in the Twitter-Wood report for August 28, 2009. Read More...

Thank you to Mr. Rob Zombie for sharing his time with us this week. In this parting video, the "Halloween II" director shares some sage words of advice for your readers, words that I completely agree with and hope that you all do too.

I'm pleased to report that things are back to status quo. Last week's top stories were relatively free of "Twilight" news but we're back on track this week thanks to the barrage of images and news that emerged. We'll get to that in a minute though. First let's wrap up the weekly box office poll.

There was a big voter turnout this week, though nearly all of your votes went to one of the two horror releases: "Halloween II" and "The Final Destination." Rob Zombie's flick edged out "Destination," with 60% of the vote compared to the other's 38%. The remaining 2% is spread across the rest of the choices, with no clear leader among them. Now that that's out of the way, let's see what your clicks favored... Read More...

Zombies, vampires and supernatural masked serial killers: these are the monsters currently revving popular culture's collective engine. That wasn't always the case though. It wasn't so long ago that moviegoers were foaming at the mouths for eyepatches and hook hands, but as Bruno would say, pirates are sooo 2007.

Of course, don't let Disney, Jerry Bruckheimer or Johnny Depp hear you say that -- they're still hard at work on a fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" adventure. Or Steven Spielberg for that matter. But there's another filmmaker in Hollywood who is ready to set sail with the scurvy genre, someone you probably wouldn't expect to have an interest in Davy Jones' locker: none other than "Halloween 2" director Rob Zombie.

Filmmaker Spike Jonze has always flirted around at the outskirts of the mainstream. Ehhhh... maybe more like the mainstream's suburbs. He made an effortless transition from music videos -- including Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" and Weezer's "Buddy Holly" -- to Hollywood features like "Being John Malkovich" and "Adaptation." He was also a writer and producer on the "Jackass" TV series and subsequent movies. For all of that, Jonze has never quite breached into "household name" territory.

This fall's re-envisioning of Maurice Sendak's classic children's book "Where the Wild Things Are" could very well change all of that. That's probably why Jonze will be honored by New York City's Museum of Modern Art in a 10 day career retrospective, ending just two days after "Wild Things" hits theaters. The exhibit will showcase "Malkovich," "Adaptation," "Jackass: The Movie," the documentary "Heavy Metal in Baghdad" and a range of music videos and short films. Check out the press release after the jump or head over to MoMA.org for the full schedule. Click the image below for our own little Jonze retrospective, presented in pictures.

On the heels of yesterday's Volturi reveal, a few more images have surfaced. They're not promo shots though. The new hotness consists of three actual "New Moon" stills showing more pale-faced Volturi craziness. Little Dakota Fanning -- who isn't so little anymore! -- is especially creepy with her red eyes and her dead-serious expression. Michael Sheen's Aro is also looking particularly creepy. If nothing else, these images stand as yet further proof that fans can expect a far superior movie in "New Moon" than "Twilight" was.

Jared Hess has a thing for weird-looking outcasts. He directed and co-wrote (with his wife, Jerusha) "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Nacho Libre," and now he's back for more oddball comedy with "Gentlemen Broncos," which hits theaters in October. The story follows a high school student (Michael Angarano) whose idea is ripped off by an acclaimed sci-fi writer (Jemaine Clement) who is short on ideas.

Hit the jump for a brief look behind the scenes at the making of the film and then head over to MTV.com to check out Eric Ditzian's interview with Hess. And of course, as part of our Fall Preview week, click the exclusive image below to be zapped over to the associated stills gallery.

To keep with the running Rob Zombie/"Halloween II" theme this week, I'm featuring yet another related item in today's eBay Prop-Watch. Ask anyone what they think of first when the subject of "Halloween" -- the horror franchise, not the holiday -- comes up, and most will answer Michael Myers' mask. Zombie's vision for the remakes diverges a bit from the previous films of course, but Myers is still his recognizable self beneath all of that filth and grime.

Here's a bit of trivia that you may not know. The original mask used in the 1978 film was created from a William Shatner Halloween mask, which was purchased for less than $2. It's amazing when you think about it, that the dictates of a low budget shoot were responsible for one of Hollywood's most iconic movie monsters. And that's why this second Prop-Watch for the week features yet another version of Myers' mask. Read More...

It doesn't take much to make me want to see a Coen brothers movie. Existence is my only real criteria, i.e. if there is one, I want to see it. So it is with great excitement then that I greet "A Serious Man," which hits theaters on October 2. As with most Coen flicks, a synopsis doesn't really do it justice. So peep our exclusive image of Richard Kind chillin' on the beach below and then head over to Apple where you can check out the amazing trailer.

Michael StuhlbargBrad Pitt and George Clooney. Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Woody Harrelson. Tom Hanks. George Clooney again. Billy Bob Thornton. George Clooney a third time.

Joel and Ethan Coen like Hollywood leading men in their movies, those Oscar winners and tabloid staples who put butts in theaters seats and bring their twisty dark tales to life. After "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "The Man Who Wasn't There" and "Intolerable Cruelty" and "The Ladykillers" and "No Country for Old Men" and "Burn After Reading" comes "A Serious Man" and its star... Michael Stuhlbarg? Read More...
