There's a little bit of re-branding going on here at MTV. Remember last night, when I posted the "New Moon" trailer image gallery? "Freeze Frame," as it was once called, will be something else the next time we do one. Now, "Freeze Frame" refers to our remixed, commentary-ridden trailers, like you saw last week in the 14 second tease. And since you enjoyed that one so much, we've done a Freeze Frame for the full trailer as well.

Inglourious BasterdsYesterday I kicked off a feature we'll be running this week, polling you readers to get a sense of who your favorite Quentin Tarantino characters are, in honor of the Friday release of "Inglourious Basterds." The stars of the film had their own opinions to share on the red carpet at the film's premiere and the MTV newsroom staff chimed in with even more opinions yesterday.

Now it's your turn. The poll, found after the jump, offers a broad cross-section of favorites from across QT's movies. My guess is that at least a few of you have a favorite who doesn't appear as a polling option. That's fine! Just write in your pick in the comments section. Yesterday, user weetiger offered up a very succinct defense of his favorite: "Mr. Blonde. A psychopath with flair." So hit the jump and be heard now! Read More...

I've got a special treat for y'all in lieu of this morning's Daily TwitPic. It's an exclusive look at Jane Campion's "Bright Star," which hits theaters on September 18. The movie follows the 19th century poet John Keats (Ben Wishaw) as he meets and falls in love with the woman -- next door neighbor Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish) -- who inspires him to write the love poem after which the movie is named. I haven't had an opportunity to check out the movie yet, but Campion is a talented filmmaker and the trailers shows what looks to be a solid period love story.

After the jump, you'll find the full text of the Keats poem for your reading enjoyment and a trio of stills from the upcoming movie. Enjoy! Read More...

The latest "New Moon" trailer and all of its delicious, Twilighter-pleasing footage came in and pre-empted much of my late-day coverage. Twitter-Wood (curse your absence, Warmoth!) and the Dailies will not be seen today. Instead, I bring you this late-breaking edition of Around the Blogosphere. Enjoy.

-- Remember the "Ninja Assassin" trailer we debuted a few weeks ago? No? Even if you do, take a look. It's pretty sweet.

It's almost as sweet as the Lego version of the trailer, which was /Film's pick yesterday for their VOTD feature (Video Of The Day). Don't take my word for it though... see for yourself. (/Film) Read More...

It's become something of a custom here at MTV to rip beloved trailers apart into their constituent parts -- ie still pictures -- and post them here for your viewing pleasure. That's what the industrious MTV production team has done with the latest "New Moon" trailer, which is really more of a first look featurette to these eyes. Whatever you want to call it though, there's new footage from the flick and I know you Twilighters want a closer look. So sit back and enjoy the second "New Moon" trailer in Freeze Frames.

I'm going to keep this short, since the text isn't why you're here. This is a fascinating trailer for "New Moon"; I'm not sure I've seen anything like it billed as a trailer. You all know this already because of the leak last week, but I hadn't watched that.

The thing is, this is really more of an interview featurette than a trailer, with Taylor Lautner talking about the important role he plays in this second movie. I can kind of understand where Summit is coming from here too. Jacob Black plays a pretty minor role in that first movie and I know without reading the book that he's very much front and center in "New Moon." With all of the hype surrounding RPattz, giving Lautner -- is it TLaut now? -- the spotlight in this trailer is a smart thing to do. That's all I have to say. Enjoy.

I mentioned in last week's posting of the "Training Day" send-up from Cinemash that it would be pretty hard to top this week's offering, which features Will Arnett and Adult Swim's Xavier: Renegade Angel taking on "Carrie." I need to retract that statement. This week's "Carrie" can't be topped. Fine, I'm an "Arrested Development" fanboy. I'm morally obligated to speak in shining terms of anyone who was involved with that series. So don't take my word for it. Listen to Cinemash creator Kashy Khaledi instead!

"Whenever Will Arnett smiles, like on 'Arrested Development' or he starts giggling, I just think it's... amazingly funny. In the movie 'Carrie,' when Carrie's onstage and she's smiling and giggling because she won the prom queen, before she gets the blood spilled on her... really, there's nothing more to it," Khaledi said in an interview with MTV contributor Jenni Miller. "Here is what I would like to see." So go click, see for yourself.

Keep it locked here to MTV Movies Blog for additional coverage of MTV's interview with Khaledi, including what his thoughts are for the next "season" and how the "Twilight" crew might factor into future outings. Remember too, starting in September you'll be able to watch these Cinemash shorts on your HDTV, via a Zune-compatible HDMI cable. A great option for sharing the hilarity with your tech-illiterate friends and family.

TwilightWell that's it. I've done the deed. The major hole in my MTV education -- knowledge of "Twilight" -- has been filled. Somewhat. I see what you commenters from last week meant now, about the movie being a poor representation of the book. Granted, I haven't read the book; but the story feels very choppy at certain points, and I think a lot of it has to do with unclear character motivations. Since Bella is the only one who gets to monologue, we're pretty much stuck with her take on things.

I'm getting ahead of myself though. I should start off by saying that I get it now. "Twilight" is very much a wish-fulfillment fantasy love story, a romantic dream scenario for any young woman who has ever felt alone and unloved in the shark tank that is high school. I have some issues with the movie, but the story itself is a cleverly conceived take on the vampire myth. Read More...

Brewster's MillionsCan we really call something a remake if it’s the eighth time the story is being turned into a movie? That’s what I wondered when I saw that “Brewster’s Millions” is headed for the big screen once again. Based on George Barr McCutcheon’s 1902 novel, the tale of a man who must blow $1 million in order to inherit another $7 million was first adapted to film in 1914 (one of Cecil B. DeMille’s first works as a director). And then it was remade in 1921 (starring Fatty Arbuckle), 1926 (with a female lead), 1936, 1945, 1961 (retitled “Three on a Spree”) and, most famously, 1985 (see below). Unofficial Indian adaptations of the story were made in 1988 and 1997, as well.

The story is certainly a good one to revisit with the world in a recession, because it’s pretty much the greatest economic fantasy of all time. Yet at the same time, the idea of watching someone spend millions in a short period of time with the rule that no assets can be acquired may be a tad upsetting to audiences with empty wallets. It is interesting that the last remake was made in the middle of a very affluent decade. I’m also curious to see what the new amounts for the inheritance are. The 1985 version, which starred Richard Pryor as the inheritor and John Candy as his best friend, raised the figures to $30 million and $300 million. Read More...

Back in April, Robert Zemeckis lit a stick of movie news dynamite -- Acme brand, of course -- and tossed it our way: 20 years after “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” hit theaters and revolutionized the science and art of cinema special effects, after countless false starts and dashed cartoon dreams, the director was planning a sequel.

“I’ll tell you what is buzzing around in my head now that we have the ability—the digital tools, performance capture—I’m starting to think about 'Roger Rabbit,'" he said at the time. Read More...
