Jackson RathboneOrlando Bloom did it a few years ago with “Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Samuel L. Jackson sort of had it going on with the “Star Wars” and “xXx” films. And Ian McKellen might have been the king, as he balanced the “LOTR” and “X-Men” movies for years... in his 60s! Now, could Jackson Rathbone be the next actor to pull off the rare simultaneous-double-franchise trick?

“Aw, man I got to do a lot of fight scenes in ‘Airbender’,” the affable “Twilight” star explained to us when we asked about his recently-wrapped upcoming blockbuster based on the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” TV cartoon show. “It was fun for me, because I grew up a little bit in Texas, and did a little Texas football. So, that little contact is good every once in a while; it kind of lets the aggression out.” Read More...

SabretoothFROM SPLASH PAGE: With so much attention being paid to the debuts of Deadpool and Gambit in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," it's easy to overlook the impressive performance of Liev Schreiber as one of the franchise's returning characters, Sabretooth. Along with bringing one of Logan's most popular nemesis to life, Schreiber added significant depth to a character whose appearances had previously been limited to grunts and the occasional growl.

While the ending of "Wolverine" certainly leaves the door open for Schreiber to return to the character, Logan's impending journey to Japan might complicate a cameo from Sabretooth. When we had a chance to chat with the actor during a press event for his upcoming film "Taking Woodstock," we had to ask him whether we'd see his take on Victor Creed in the next X-Men movie.

Call them "cult classics." "Guilty pleasures." "Comfort movies." We all have a mental rolodex of flicks that aren't terribly popular but, for one reason or another, they resonate in a very special way. Maybe you saw it at the right moment. Maybe you just see gold where everyone else sees feces. Whatever the case, these are the special favorites that you keep stashed away for sick days. Here are some of ours.

Get ready for "Sick Day Stash" to take on a whole new meaning. Decades before Robert Altman's "MASH," more than half a century ahead of Robert Rodriguez's "Spy Kids" and more than 75 years before "Kid Nation," one short Shirley Temple comedy thumbed its nose at the violent front lines of World War I, leaving a bizarre relic from its time that wedged child actors into hilariously unsettling adult roles. To hear Brad Pitt say it, his Aldo Raine character in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" was right there on the page. He didn't have to interpret or ad lib-- he just played the character as Tarantino wrote him, and that was that. The director doesn't necessarily agree with that statement, as you can see in the video below. Whether or not he wants to admit it though, Tarantino is a master craftsman when it comes to characters.

That's why I'm running a poll this week, to determine who you think takes top honors among Tarantino's many colorful characters. My pick is Max Cherry, from "Jackie Brown." Two reasons for that. One: "Jackie Brown" is my favorite of the director's flicks. Two: Robert Forster is badass. You don't want to mess with that guy. Who's your favorite? Cast your vote after the jump. Don't agree with our selections? Then enter your pick as a write-in in the comments section or record your thoughts on video and share them with us at Your MTV (make sure to tag it "favorite Tarantino character"). Read More...

Cinemash creator Kashy Khaledi has been enjoying himself lately. Clearly. Just look at all of the great classic film send-ups he's delivered for Mean Magazine's Cinemash series: "Training Day," "Dirty Dancing," "Oldboy" and, most recently, "Carrie."

<br /><a href="http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&#038;vid=d21ba3c1-82fa-4952-b300-e5731409acf3" target="_new" title="Will Arnett and Xavier Cinemash &quot;Carrie&quot;">Video: Will Arnett and Xavier Cinemash &quot;Carrie&quot;</a>

Fan films flourish across the Internet thanks to the ease and popularity of video recording and sharing. Khaledi's Mean Magazine contributions, a partnership with Microsoft, stand out primarily because of the talent populating them: Will Arnett, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Common, Milo Ventimiglia, Channing Tatum, Charlyne Yi... well-known personalities. To celebrate the end of the first "season," Khaledi took some time out to speak with MTV contributor Jenni Miller about the future of Cinemash. And of course, she could resist asking any possible "New Moon"-related plans.... Read More...

You old fogies can keep your Olympics. X Games is where it's at for the cool kids. This Friday, Disney launches a limited, week-long engagement of "X Games 3D: The Movie," a documentary which takes a look at the 12 year old event and its thrill-seeking athletes. I really hate to step up on my digital soapbox and be "that guy" right now, but some wild rumors concerning the Peter Jackson-produced, Guillermo del Toro-directed adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" popped up yesterday and the record needs to be straightened out. Of the four key components to this latest round of hopeful fanperson musings, three are easily debunked.

Blogspot site MarketSaw, "a blog focused on 3D motion pictures," reported yesterday that (1) "The Hobbit" will be presented in stereoscopic 3-D, (2) it will unfold across two movies, with a third bridge to follow them, (3) Peter Jackson will direct said bridge and (4) the dragon character Smaug will be "darker than in the book." While number four is certainly feasible with del Toro at the helm, one through three directly contradict Peter Jackson's own words on the subject of "The Hobbit." Check out the video below for his own words and then hit the jump for the down and dirty debunkings.

Jon HammA direct relationship exists between the growing size of Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch" cast and the mystery surrounding exactly what the hell we're going to see on the screen when it hits theaters in 2011. "Man Man" star Jon Hamm is the first confirmed male to join the all-female cast of the "Watchmen" director's next film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Of course, there are no details on what role Hamm will play. More of the same from the increasingly mysterious "Sucker Punch." We know his character's name though: High Roller. Probably not a god-given birth name. I wonder if he's supposed to be a gambler, or if "High Roller" is meant more as a metaphor. Maybe Hamm's character is constantly putting himself in danger, taking a high-stakes gamble with his life. Or something. Read More...

Ice-TToday's Daily TwitPic seems fairly innocuous at first glance. Tracy Morgan hanging with Tracy Marrow, aka Ice-T. The dour rapper-turned-"Law & Order: SVU" investigator couldn't even muster a smile standing next to "30 Rock"'s funniest rabble-rouser, but that's not what concerns me. Look into Ice-T's eyes. I know you see it. He's gone "Thriller" on us!

Sure, sure... I'm aware of the red eye effect in photography. It's a put-on. Ice isn't the victim of a camera flashbulb. Oh no... it's clear that he's something else entirely. A werewolf. Just you wait, people. Morgan is smiling in that photo. It was his last, make no mistake. "30 Rock" is in for a ratings dive after Morgan comes back and turns the rest of the cast. And then its over for us all. Let's face it: if Jack McBrayer (Kenneth the Page!) shows up at your door, red werewolf eyes or not, you're going to let him in. And so will begin humanity's slow transformation into a culture of werewolves. Read More...
