Taken out of context, today's Daily TwitPic is one of the strangest yet. Hell, it's strange taken in context. Arnold Schwarzenegger, action hero-turned-governor of California, may be a busy man these days -- running a state'll do that to ya -- but he still finds the time between signing bills into law for signing autographs.

These are very special autographs though, and not just because it's Ahnuld's signature on a detached car sun visor. That big stack of visors will return to their homes, used state cars that will be sold at a premium for their Schwarzenegger-signed goodness. Check out this TwitVid for more details and then hit the jump for the hot autographing action. Read More...

James Cameron hasn't directed a feature film since "Titanic," which hit theaters in 1997. Come the December release of "Avatar," we'll get to see if the long break has dulled the "Terminator" and "Aliens" director's abilities in any way. My money's on that not being the case.

Either way, the decade-plus vacation is reason enough to celebrate today as "Avatar" Day. It's not the only reason though. Later this evening, IMAX theaters around the country will swing wide their doors to adoring fans who lined up for a 16-minute early glimpse of "Avatar," a collage of scenes from throughout the film with a video introduction by Cameron himself. Those tickets disappeared almost as quickly as they were made available. Fortunately, you don't need one to check out the debut "Avatar" trailer below.

Look for additional photo and video treatments of the trailer throughout the day for a more up-close look at what's going on in these tantalizing two minutes of footage.

NosferatuThere's not a whole lot of news pouring out of Hollywood today. Other than the news WE make, of course. I'm sure I could dig up a few snippets, such a "Deadwood" star John Hawkes joining "Lost" as a recurring character in its final season (The Hollywood Reporter) or a new, unused trailer for "Halloween II" surfacing (Bloody Disgusting), but wouldn't you rather watch a movie about vampires?

This isn't just any vampire movie. This is F.W. Murnau's "Nosferatu," starring Max Schreck as the freaky looking blood-sucker. I'm not entirely certain that it's the first vampire movie, but it's certainly one of the most well-known and frequently revisited films of cinema's silent era. All of you Twilighters in particular, check this out and keep an open mind. It's challenging even as silent film goes, but it gives you an early glimpse of the fundamental elements that helped turn "Twilight" into phenomenon. Read More...

Avatar"Avatar," James Cameron's big-money and hotly hyped new film finally saw its first full trailer hit the Internet today, and the Twitter-Wood feed was full of reactions -- both good and bad -- to his new race of blue-skinned humanoids.

Meanwhile, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Chloe Moretz chose to discuss two other films, exchanging expectations about their upcoming release "Kick-Ass" the already-released and "Julie and Julia." The feed had all manner of commentary today, both biting and excited, so check it all out, along with Pamela Anderson's camping destination and Elizabeth Banks' frustrations. But first check out a shot of Arnold Schwarzenegger's unusual pile of autographs. It's stacked up below in the Twitter-Wood report for August 20, 2009. Read More...

Paul WeitzChris Weitz and Paul Weitz are sibling filmmakers. They earned an Oscar nom for their collaborative writing and directing efforts on "About a Boy." Paul previously directed "American Pie," and he went on to write and direct "In Good Company" and "American Dreamz." Now he's doing a movie about vampires, "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant."

Chris helped his bro out on "American Pie," and then went on after "Boy" to direct "The Golden Compass." He's doing a movie now about vampires too. Perhaps you've heard of it. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." Two brothers, two vampire movies. In an additional connection to the legendary blood-suckers, the sibs' grandmother, Lupita Tovar, starred in the 1930s Spanish-language version of "Dracula." That's a lot of garlic hate for one family. Read More...

Kristen Stewart--I'm a big Miles Davis fan. Almost as much as I am a "Star Wars" fan. And so I'm kicking myself for not remembering that we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of the jazz trumpeter's landmark album, "Kind of Blue," before Slate did. Regardless, the online publication has put together a nice little list which looks at five moments in screen history when music from "Kind of Blue" is used to enhance the narrative in some way. Great stuff, Slate. (Slate)

-- Blue must be a running theme today. Inspired by today's "Avatar" trailer, Movieline writer Kyle Buchanan put forth the bold statement that blue is the color of geek love. What is he basing that crazy theory on? Well, you'll have to read the feature. I'll give you one piece of the puzzle though: David Cross on "Arrested Development." Intrigued? Then read! Maybe that headline is a bit much, but any look at the Benicio Del Toro-starring movie monster revival of "The Wolfman," directed by Joe Johnston, is enough to send me into a rabid frenzy. And the latest trailer brings the goods. It's filled with all sorts of wolf-y goodness. I'm loving the evil vibe I get from these scenes; it actually feels like a real horror movie, not some overly stylized blockbuster a la "Sleepy Hollow." Then again, I suppose that's what happens when you set "Se7en" writer Andrew Kevin Walker loose on your script.

Click the image above to dash off to our newly updated "Wolfman" image gallery and hit the jump for a look at the blood-spattered new trailer.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of CobraI'm fairly certain I never once saw Cobra Commander, Destro or even that upstart Zartan wearing sneakers. Not that that's stopped Nike from pairing up with Hasbro to license a pair of new, limited edition sneaks pegged to the recent release of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." They come in two flavors, with horribly confusing and lengthy names for each one: "Nike X Hasbro Hyperize Supreme Destro GI Joe Pack" and "Nike X Hasbro Zoom Sharkalaid Storm Shadow GI Joe Pack."

Now don't get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It's my favorite Stephen Sommers flick since "The Mummy," and I suspect it will top even that one once the Blu-ray arrives in my home. I'm not digging these sneaks though. It's hard to be anything but blunt about it: they're ugly. I might buy a pair though, not to wear but for the classic-styled G.I. Joe vehicle box they come packaged in. The only thing missing is a little window off to the side containing your bonus action figure. Hit the jump for a look at the kickass packaging. Read More...

The saga of 'Crazy' Eddie Antar is one that is probably unfamiliar to most of you, especially if you're under the age of 30 and not from the New York/Tri-State area. Through the '70s and much of the '80s, Crazy Eddie was a popular electronics retailer operating in and around New York, known most for their low prices and memorable TV ad campaign which featured the fast-talking radio DJ, Jerry Carroll. The business went bust in 1989 after a federal investigation shed light on their corrupt practices.

It was reported earlier this year that Danny DeVito is interested in bringing the tale of Antar's business to the big screen. So when MTV's Josh Horowitz -- a native New Yorker -- sat down with the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star last month at San Diego Comic-Con, he just had to ask for an update on this Crazy Eddie movie.

BronsonAre you a fan of violence? Extreme violence? Over-the-top violence? If your answer to all of those questions is "yes" and you haven't heard about the movie "Bronson," directed by Nicholas Winding Refn. If you answered "yes" to all three and you have heard of "Bronson"... you should keep reading anyway.

For the uninitiated, "Bronson" is the based-on-a-true-story tale of Charles Bronson, a UK criminal who has been dubbed "the most violent prisoner in Britain." He first went to prison in 1974 on a seven year term, though that stay has been continually extended for his dangerously erratic behavior behind bars. Many of his more than 30 years of incarceration have been spent in solitary confinement, though not in one place: Bronson has done time in more than 120 government rehabilitation facilities. And there's a movie about this nutball. Read More...
