See, this is why I would never try to get a job as a coroner. It has nothing to do with my lack of med school training or my aversion to corpses. It's the constant and very real possibility that any day could be the one when your seemingly deceased passenger is reborn as an undead killer. It happens people, make no mistake.
The poor guys in this exclusive "Halloween II" clip meet just that end, when Michael Myers steps out of the coroner's van after a particularly bad crash. I'm not clear on how the crash happened, but that's not important. It was bad enough to kill the driver and trap the passenger, who is promptly offed by a newly reawakened Myers. As for the horse... that's just straight weird.

Here's an MTV Movies Blog first for you: all this week, "Halloween II" director Rob Zombie is stepping in to take the editor reins away from me. You know I didn't put up a fight either. That dude's movies scare the crap out of me, and there's no telling what he'd do to me if I resisted.
You should make sure to stick around all week too, for exclusive "Halloween II" reveals and for the Zombie-flavored treatments that recurring franchises like Around the Blogosphere and Sick Day Stash will receive. Seriously, stay tuned in. Have you seen "House of 1000 Corpses"? You don't want to piss this man off.

"Suck." It's as tragic a title as I've ever heard, but the movie it sits on top of has me intrigued. It's a vampire comedy following loser band The Winners, whose luck turns around after their bassist Jennifer (Jessica Pare) enjoys a night of blood-spattered vampire love and returns a new woman. The changed bad enjoys great success... until they draw the attention of the feared vampire Eddie Van Helsing (Malcolm McDowell).
Okay, there's more tragedy up there than the title. That's okay. It doesn't spell doom for "Suck." From the sound of things, "Suck" seems to be embracing its, uh, suck, and running with it. Remember: bad can be good when it's done right. Look at "Crank." Or "Transporter." Or hopefully "Suck," when it premieres at Toronto Film Festival next month. Read more...

In the below exclusive clip from "Zombieland," Jesse Eisenberg lives out the city bachelor's dream scenario when his character's hot neighbor shows up, frightened and in need of comfort. If only he knew what was coming. Hot Neighbor describes how a homeless person chased and tried to bite her. We all know this is not true, well... because the freakin' movie's called "Zombieland." We also know that Hot Neighbor is not long for this world... well... because she's called Hot Neighbor. Enjoy.

Is Pixar hiring? If so, visionary filmmaker Terry Gilliam (“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”) would like to apply. And if he needs a letter of recommendation, I’d be happy to provide one. According to /Film, Gilliam confessed at a recent BFI event that he would sweep the floors at the animation studio just to be around such creative people.
Fans of Gilliam’s work, myself included, would much rather see him directing films for the Disney-owned animation studio than providing them with janitorial services. Gilliam began as an animator and first became famous through the cartoons he made for “Monty Python’s Flying Circus.” Given his difficulties since then with live-action filmmaking -- looking at you, "Brothers Grimm." And "Tideland." And "Man of La Mancha." -- it might actually be a good idea for him to return to his original medium. Read more...

Last week I ran excerpts from Larry Carroll's interview with "American Pie" director Paul Weitz, who is currently wrapping up work on his next project, "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant." Weitz has a brother who knows a little something about vampires too, first name Chris. Maybe you've heard of him. He's wrapping up work right now too, on the soon-to-release "Twilight" follow-up, "New Moon."
When MTV's Josh Horowitz sat down with Chris at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks ago, he had to mine for additional details on Weitz's treatment of Edward Cullen in the sequel. See, Edward doesn't factor very heavily into "New Moon," but Robert Pattinson has become something of a superstar. So how, specifically, will Weitz feature his top talent as a star in the sequel when he isn't really supposed to be there for much of it?

While "John Carter of Mars" was once considered a doubtful project -- if not a totally doomed one -- fate has seemingly turned in the film's favor with several major casting announcements, including the much beloved Willem Dafoe as Martian warrior Tars Tarkas.
Today, a trio of new actors are joining the "John Carter" cast, providing further proof that the long-gestating movie is picking up steam. Dominic West, Samantha Morton and Polly Walker are all signing up for the trip to "Mars," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Read more...

Why don't you take a look at the teaser first. We'll discuss afterwards. Here are the important points, the ones that'll make you click play: "Inception" is director Chris Nolan's follow-up to "The Dark Knight." He also directed "Memento" and "The Prestige." "Inception" stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Why haven't you clicked play yet?
I've got to say, I get a very "Matrix" vibe off of this trailer. I mean that in a good way; "Inception" doesn't look like "The Matrix," it just makes me recall the initial sense of wonderment I felt at seeing the first teaser. Read more...

Lots of movies vying for your attention this week, so let's get right to it. The big release of course is Rob Zombie's "Halloween II," a follow-up to his 2007 remake which continues the story in the rebooted universe. I'll be straight with you readers: Zombie scares the crap out of me. I wore out my White Zombie CDs back in high school and I loved his contribution to the movie "Beavis & Butthead Do America," but Zombie's particular vision what is scary falls right in line line with the worst of my nightmares.
Also new in horror this week is the third "Final Destination" movie, titled "The Final Destination," which I presume means it will be the last in the series. Until the inevitable reboot, of course. The flick comes to two flavors: regular and 3-D. For those who have no experience with the series, it's sort of a prototypical "Saw": a small group of people escape certain death after one has a premonition. The survivors then die one by one, in a series of increasingly elaborate set pieces. Good times. Read more...
