Tim Burton is one of cinema's living legends. 100 years from now, he'll be mentioned with same reverence reserved for the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, John Ford... those guys. He's a top dog, and we have many more years of Burton's delightfully twisted cinematic vision to look forward to. His touch is certainly felt in Shane Acker's "9," which hits theaters in September (9/9/09 to be precise).

Well Burton is coming here. I already had my "OMG" moment. Calm now. Ready to share the goodness with you readers. See, we like to give y'all a chance to have your voices heard in our interviews. It's how we roll. So we want your Burton questions. "9" stuff is encouraged of course, but the sky's the limit. Just keep it clean. Mail your questions to us at-- STOP! Don't mail us your questions anymore! The interview is over! Thanks for playing y'all... don't worry. Plenty more to come.

To inspire you, here's a brief clip of Burton talking to MTV in 2006... about "Friends"?!

Well isn't this interesting. Had you heard there was an X-Games movie coming? There is! "X-Games 3D: The Movie" will run in theaters for ONE WEEK in August, starting on the 21. And in case the title didn't give it away, it's going to screen in 3-D. It's something I might have to get off my ass for. Seeing pros like Bob Burnquist, Ricky Carmichael, Danny Way and Shaun White do their thing is always impressive. But seeing it in high definition 3-D? To quote Keanu... "whoa."

The movie features Emile Hirsch narrating and a soundtrack from The Crystal Method. Check out the first trailer below and the second one after the jump.

FROM MTV.COM: You might want to go easy on your friendly, neighborhood "Twilight" fans for the next few days. They've spent much of the past week waiting in long lines, screaming at the top of their lungs and reaching out to grab the hands of their heroes at Comic-Con. Their black T-shirts need to be washed, their blogs need to be updated and those Burger King crowns have given them some bad hat hair. As if that isn't enough, TwiCon starts in a few days.

But would they do things any differently if they could? Taking a look back at the time we spent with them during their wild, whirlwind Comic-Con, it seems unlikely.

I've never seen Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse." Not a single episode. Don't get me wrong, I want to. The premise -- the exploits of blank human slates who can be "imprinted" with new personas and then hired out for a variety of purposes -- is cool. And the confirmation of a coming second season makes me feel better about investing in the young series. I'm still feeling wounded after the passing of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."

In the below video, Whedon and "Dollhouse" star Eliza Dushku discuss the San Diego Comic-Con premiere of "Epitaph One," the unaired thirteenth episode from season one. I have no idea what they're talking about. It sounds like the ep was shot as a "just in case we're canceled" ass-saver, to give disheartened fans some closure. From the sound of things though, Whedon left it open enough that "Epitaph One" still fits into the continuing timeline.

Head over to MTV.com for more video coverage from San Diego Comic-Con!

UpThink you’re too good for 3-D? Well think again, because the film format is apparently now cool for highbrow cineastes too. The Venice Film Festival has announced a new award for best Stereoscopic 3D film, the first of which will be handed out this September. Appropriately sponsored by a sunglass brand, the prize will go to “the most creative feature film among those in Steroscopic 3-D produced between September 2008 and August 2009.”

Earlier this year, 3-D got a classy boost from the Cannes Film Festival when the 3-D version of Pixar’s “Up” opened the event. The French film fest has already been comparatively more commercial than other European film fests. Venice, the world’s oldest film festival, brings a little more prestige to the format with this recognition. Or so it may seem. Read More...

The Secret of NimhOne of my weirdest obsessions as a wee lass was Don Bluth's 1982 animated film "The Secret of NIMH." I must have watched it dozens of times on television and was impressed enough by its humble rodent cast to read the book it was based on. If you've never seen it -- or read Robert C. O'Brien's book, "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" -- you should.

"NIMH" is the story of a widowed field mouse named Mrs. Frisby (renamed Mrs. Brisby in the film) who is faced with an enormous problem for such a fragile little animal. She has a sick child who she must evacuate from their home in a farmer's field before its plowed. To do so, she needs the help of a group of highly evolved field rats who live nearby. When she enlists their assistance, she discovers that they need her just as much as she needs them. Read More...

Peter JacksonPeter Jackson said it might take awhile to get support for converting "The Lord of the Rings" into 3D, though that's exactly what he wants to do. Now we learn that Blu-ray adopting "Rings" fans have a wait of their own in store, for hi-def versions of Jackson's extended editions. Tolkien fans should be getting an HD "Lord of the Rings" trilogy in time for Christmas this year, but the word from Jackson is that extended edition cuts of the three films won't be out on Blu-ray for at least another year.

Jackson has been talking to the studio about doing some new extras for the Blu-ray extended editions, according to Collider, but those discs will be in a separate release, not likely to appear until a year after the November 3 launch for the theatrical editions. Jackson didn't reveal what new material might be included, but it sounds like extended Blu-ray editions are in the cards. As if there was ever any doubt. Read More...

Diablo CodyNow that Comic-Con is officially over, untold numbers of celebrities are surely wandering the streets of Hollywood wondering why they don’t have a party to go to tonight. The last twelve hours of tweets in the Twitter-Wood feed have been filled with stories of return flights and sage post-Comic-Con reflections. Newly anointed Freddy Krueger actor Jackie Earle Haley even posted a few parting photos from his weekend in San Diego.

While everyone else adjusts back to daily life, however, our most reliable posters like Diablo Cody are jumping back into the groove with the news and entertainment commentary we expect from the average week, such Joe Jonas’ reported split with girlfriend Camilla Belle. Check out what she had to say, as well as who Rose McGowan reconnected with via Twitter and what now-classic comedy opened eight years ago today. It’s all in the Twitter-Wood report for July 27, 2009. Read More...

9Last week we ran some exclusive images of a pair of Pony sneakers spun off of Shane Acker's upcoming CG animated "stitchpunk" fantasy "9." Some of you asked where you might obtain a pair of those nifty-looking kicks. As it turns out, you can't. Not in a store anyway. There IS a way you can get them for free though!

The image up there on the right (and a larger version of the same available after the jump) is your official 9Experiment.com Talisman Challenge Clue. Eight other websites have similar images for you to grab. Grab them all and piece them together to reveal a code. Bring that code over to 9Experiment.com and punch it in to activate the decoder there.

Your code entry nabs you a shot at winning one of several prizes, the best of which is a pair of the Pony kicks. Eight others will receive promotional prize packs of "movie-related merchandise." Noticing a pattern here with all of these 9s? It's not coincidental, I assure. "9" hits theaters this fall on -- you guessed it -- 9/9/09. Read More...

David CronenbergIt’s been a video game-y week Around the Blogosphere. Sam Raimi being attached to a “Warcraft” adaptation was the talk of last week of course -- the non-Comic-Con talk, that is -- but there’s also been news about “Castlevania” and “Asteroids” movies. Today brought word of a “Dead Space” adaptation, which publisher Electronic Arts will soon auction off to the highest bidding studio. As you might expect, the news inspired some opinion-rattling across the thinking person’s Internet.

There’s also some chatter about the value of DVD/Blu-ray releases that include Digital Copy, ruminations on a similar pair of “crazy kid” movies, some David Cronenberg commentary/speculation and light spoilerage on the "Smurfs" movie front, thanks to some casting call announcements. PLUS-- I read today on Cinematical that the excellent(ly twisted) Bobcat Goldthwait-directed movie "World's Greatest Dad" is now available to watch On Demand. Order that up and tell us what you think here in the comments or at Your MTV. Read More...
