Tomorrow, a good portion of the MTV Movies team will pull up stakes and trek out to southern California for the annual San Diego Comic-Con. I'll be here in New York manning the Movies Blog, but most of the rest of the gang will be conducting interviews and gallivanting around the convention hall with cameras -- of the still and video variety -- in tow.
Our coverage won't start until the show kicks off on Thursday of course, but that doesn't mean I can't drum up some enthusiasm here on eBay Prop-Watch. Today's pick is way out of my price range. Probably out of yours too. But it's a little piece of "X2: X-Men United." The champion of the "X-Men" movies. And that's enough to satisfy me. Read more...

Word emerged yesterday that Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way would join with Warner Bros. to produce an all new silver screen version of "The Twlight Zone." Rod Serling's classic sci-fi/fantasy/horror TV series ended in 1964, but it has seen a number of TV revivals since then. The only feature-length adaptation came in 1983, a multi-part, multi-director effort with contributions from the likes of Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, George Miller and John Landis.
All we know about the coming "Twilight Zone" return so far is that the aim is to produce a continuous story based on any number of classic series plotlines. Quite a different approach from the 1983 version's discrete vignettes, but it's good to know that Serling's original stories will be serviced. The question is, which would be best for the coming movie? Keep reading for my own suggestions. And beware... spoilers ahead. Read more...
FROM SPLASH PAGE: We brought you news back in May of the upcoming "Jennifer's Body" graphic novel based on the horror film by Diablo Cody ("Juno") and starring Megan Fox. Now we get a peek at two covers from the first issue of the comic, both featuring illustrated versions of a blood-drenched Fox.
The story of a demonically possessed high school teenager who feeds on her male classmates, "Jennifer's Body" hits theaters this fall -- but the tie-in comic arrives on shelves sometime in August.
Writer Rick Spears is handling all of the stories collected in the comic (which occur within the "Jennifer's Body" universe), while Jim Mahfood ("Kick Drum Comix"), Tim Seeley ("Hack/Slash"), Nikki Cook ("DMZ") and Ming Doyle ("Popgun") will handle the interior art. There's a nine-page preview of one of the stories at ShockTillYouDrop.com, along with covers by Eric Jones and Frank Cho (which I've posted here).

A lot of content popping today Around the Blogosphere. Before getting into vampire romance and genital mutilation, I'll start things light with a rebooted take on "Point Break," Cinemash-style. Human Giants Aziz Ansari and Rob Huebel are joined by "Reno 911" cops Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant in a return to the classic Patrick Swayze/Keanu Reeves surfer cop drama.
Plenty more to come, so click yourself past the break. Read more...

Excuse me while I flip out for a moment...
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry about that. It's just that one of the characters revealed in these new images from season two of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is BOSSK!!! Deep-cut "Wars" fans know who I'm talking about. He's the green, bipedal lizard bounty hunter who hisses at Imperial officers in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back." And now he's joining the "Clone Wars" crew.
I'll admit that I wasn't sure what to make of the CG animated take on "Star Wars" when I first saw the feature-length pilot/theatrical release. The series quickly won me over though as some of the best fan-serving new "Star Wars" content to arrive since Darth Vader was "born" in "Episode III." "Clone Wars"' first season hits Blu-ray and DVD on November 3; you can also look for the second season of the series to hit Cartoon Network this Fall! Proceed past the jump for a look at the full-size pics. Read more...

Muggles and wizards alike both know the evil Lord Voldemort as “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.” Judging by the latest controversy to rock the "Harry Potter" universe however, it is okay to scribble Voldemort’s name in black Sharpie.
The lines between fantasy and reality have been further blurred in recent days as the series' latest film, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” continues to set records at the box-office. Now, with Daniel Radcliffe being menaced on the big screen by the former Hogwart’s student-turned-dark-overlord, fans all over the world have begun defacing “Stop” signs with a message to Harry’s nemesis. I suppose "defy the future" is better than "desecrate the past." Or "raise hell in the present." We have here the shiny, new one-sheet for Jerry Bruckheimer's video game-turned-movie "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time." Rather than strike out in a new direction, a Ubisoft's 2008 entry in the series did, "Sands" is a proper adaptation of 2003's 3-D rendered reboot of the franchise.
The story follows a street urchin named Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is adopted as the king's heir as a way to prevent the ruler's biological sons from jockeying for the position. In addition to jealous siblings, Dastan must also contend with a Nizam (Ben Kingsley), a nobleman who has some dastardly plans of his own. Dastan's chief ally is Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton), who joins him in trying to find the time-twisting Sands of Time before Nizam can.
I'm not sure what to think about "Prince of Persia." On the one hand, video game adaptations do not have the best track record. Then again, "Sands of Time" is particularly focused on narrative and a cinematic presentation. What's more, Bruckheimer delivers the sorts of blockbusters I tend to flock to. Yes, even "Con Air." Continue past the jump for a look at the full one-sheet. Also, head over to UGO for their exclusive look at Kingsley as Nizam! Read more...

Our Comic-Con preview continues today with what is surely one of the most anticipated films of the San Diego gathering: Disney's updated take on 1982’s man-in-the-machine mind-frak "Tron." Quite a change from 2008’s "Tron" at Con brain-melting bombshell.
“Last year we had the benefit of surprise,” "Tron" producer Sean Bailey told MTV News. “We had some visual test stuff to show that no one knew we had [prepared], which is really fun to be able to surprise a crowd that is pretty much unsurprise-able.”
That visual test showed off a high-tech clip of a lightcycle race—a take on one of the many iconic scenes from the original film—and the crowd went wild. Cut to 2009: with the “Tron” shoot having wrapped in Vancouver just a week ago, the task for filmmakers is both the same and quite different: everyone is well aware of a new “Tron” and there’s not a ton of complete footage available to show off. FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: What a "New Moon"-filled week we have planned (er, not to mention today is the 40th anniversary of the first U.S. landing on the moon)! Thursday, lucky Comic-Con attendees will get a chance to see exclusive footage (and the cast!) in an hour long Summit Entertainment panel, but for those of you too impatient to wait four more days, here's a look at some new stills from the set (and make sure to click on the photo to see the full gallery of "New Moon" stills we've collected so far):
In this behind-the-scenes photo, director Chris Weitz talks with Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene and Taylor Lautner in what looks to be the infamous scene where Bella and Alice decide to go to Italy. In a theme similar to all the shots that have been released of Bella (Kristen) and Jacob (a beefy Taylor), Taylor is shown sitting above Kristen in a protective way. He is her protector, get it? She is but a fragile mortal to his snarling, massive, intimidating, fluffy werewolf... but were getting ahead of ourselves.

As you know -- and if you don't, I'll set the dogs on you -- MTV Movies Editor Josh Horowitz will be moderating a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week for Mike Judge's next laugh-fest, "Extract." Judge is the brilliant mind behind such classics as "Beavis & Butthead," "King of the Hill" and, of course, "Office Space." Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.
Appearing alongside Judge at the panel are stars Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis and Kristen Wiig. And they all want to hear from you. Seriously! We appreciate that a lot of you folks don't get to attend Comic-Con, and we want you to have your say at the Q&A! Send us your questions at tips@mtvmoviesblog.com and Josh will do his best to get them all answered at the panel.
