Alice in WonderlandSan Diego Comic-Con has sadly preempted some of my daily features here on MTV Movies Blog (sorry Prop-Watch, Around the Blogosphere), but the avalanche of coverage makes this a good week to launch a new one. Every Friday, I'll be running through the preceding week's top stories (Friday through Friday, FYI) on MTV Movies Blog. As you might expect, a lot of the most clicked content for the week relates in some way to San Diego Comic-Con. Don't take my word for it though; let's let the list tell the tale.

Counting down of course...

#10 "Tron Legacy" Panel Report Fresh From San Diego Comic-Con -- Just as the title suggests, one of our writers on the ground at Comic-Con runs through the highlights of the "Tron Legacy" panel. Read more...

You may not be able to tell, but that there is Jackie Earl Haley, "Watchmen"'s Rorschach and "A Nightmare on Elm Street"'s Freddy Krueger. Weird roles for a weird dude. Look at him. He won't even pose for the camera. Still, this is a more revealing image than we've gotten for his Freddy Krueger.

Don't forget that you can check out the rest of our photo booth gallery from San Diego Comic-Con over at MTV.com!

Paul WS AndersonI missed the news last week (bad MTV Movies Blog editor!) that the live-action portion of the "Resident Evil" series would be getting a fourth installment, "Afterlife," which is set to begin shooting in September. Dread Central, which broke the older news, now brings word that Paul W.S. Anderson will return to the director's chair.

In case you're new to the series or simply unaware, Anderson wrote and produced all three preceding "Resident Evil" films. He also directed the first one, in 2002. The Anderson confirmation comes by way of Production Weekly's Twitter page. But wait! There's more! Read more...

These are the days to be a nerd. No longer is the geek shunned. He is celebrated! Comic book movies like “The Dark Knight” are considered high art, fantasy like “Harry Potter” and “Twilight” rule the hearts of millions and the sci-fi goodness of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” is the toast of 2009. Yes, it is a good time to be a, as they say in Latin, dorkus malorkus.

Hollywood hasn’t been very kind to one corner of the nerd world however. Video game adaptations do not have a history of quality, thanks to early ‘90s monstrosities like “Street Fighter” and “Super Mario Bros.” Then there's Uwe Boll, who has single-handedly made this sub-genre a wasteland of bad special effects, sub-porn-level dialogue and cruelty to great actors. What did Ben Kingsley do to deserve being in “Bloodrayne”? Read more...

OrphanThe voters have spoken, and talking CG animated guinea pigs are not what they want. The clear winner of this week's Box Office Poll is psych thriller "Orphan," about an adopted girl who seems just a little bit... off. Not "watch her or she might break something" off. More "oh crap, what is she doing with that bloody knife" off. Whatever her problem is, she nabbed 61% of your votes.

The other two big wide releases for the week -- the aforementioned guinea pig-driven family adventure "G-Force" and the Katherine Heigl/Gerard Butler rom-com "The Ugly Truth" -- are pretty much neck-and-neck as we round into the final few hours of this week's poll. The CG feature has a slight edge, with 23% of your votes as compared to 21% for "Ugly." Read more...

“Orphan.” Whether or not you plan on seeing this fright fest about a girl who terrorizes her newly adoptive parents, one thing is indisputable: that is one freaky lookin’ little girl. The dark, hooded eyes, the thick red ribbon bound across her neck, the do-you-feel-lucky-punk stare—this orphan named Esther is a shining example of the supreme creepitude that some pop culture children exude without saying a word.

In creepiness, if not narrative, "Orphan"'s little orphan Esther comes from a long line of hair-raising fictional youngsters. Here’s our list of the kiddies who, intentionally or not, get the chills running up and down our spines. Read more...

Rather than delivering a stylized logo, a release date and nothing more, the just-released teaser trailer for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" is generously packed with real, actual movie footage. And it's great. Burton is just the right guy to bring Lewis Carroll's wacked-out vision of Wonderland to modern audiences, with liberal help from CG animation and Johnny Depp of course.

In fact, it is so packed with psychedelic goodness, that it's easy to let the little details fly by. Don't worry though-- we've got you covered. Over on MTV.com, I've put together a little shot-by-shot breakdown of the trailer for your reading pleasure. We've also got the HD version available now for your viewing pleasure. Capping it all off is a Freeze Frames image gallery which hits every major moment in the trailer.

Kevin SpaceyIn 1999’s “American Beauty,” Kevin Spacey played a depressed suburban dad who experiences a transcendental reawakening. So he starts smoking a particularly potent strain of government-engineered marijuana.

Today a new Spacey flick, “Shrink,” hits theaters, and in this one he portrays a pot-smoking depressive and Hollywood therapist who is so hopelessly addicted he tokes up in the shower and in the bathroom of a pediatric waiting room. Unlike its effect on his blissed-out “Beauty” brother, blazing is nothing but cheerless trouble for the shrink in “Shrink.”

So what’s going on here? Why does one Spacey character become a happy-go-lucky pothead, while the other becomes a despondent drug addict in need of an intervention? In an interview with MTV News, the Academy Award-winning actor was only too pleased to provide an explanation. Read more...

Robert Pattinson is kind of a big deal these days. I can't imagine why. Whatever the reason is though, it's odd to think about RPattz shifting to a "supporting role" in "New Moon," even if that's what the narrative of Stephenie Meyer's book dictates.

Not that he's complaining. Speaking to the gathered crowd at last night's San Diego Comic-Con "New Moon" panel, Pattinson said that his work on the set was one of the "most relaxing jobs" he's ever had. Not a terrible surprise when you consider he didn't arrive until three weeks into the shoot. Even then, shooting the "apparition" scenes meant he was in for "maybe one word a week." A rough schedule indeed.

Remember to head over to MTV.com for our full coverage of the "New Moon" panel at San Diego Comic-Con '09!

The advice printed on these posters for "The Cabin in the Woods," an upcoming horror flick directed by Drew Goddard and written by Goddard and Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV series) is not of the "good" variety. In fact, if you've seen even one horror movie in your life, then you know that heeding these words will likely lead you to a gruesome, untimely death.

"If you hear a strange sound outside... have sex." Seriously? Ever hear of this dude named Jason? Big guy, scary, wears a hockey mask. Always carries around a filthy teenager-carving machete. Yeah, that sound is probably him. So don't incite his anger if you like to keep your blood inside your body. Hit the jump for two more equally ill-advised posters. Read more...
