Are those wedding bells or screams? Universal and Imagine Entertainment are getting set to resurrect the 1935 horror film “Bride of Frankenstein.” The original Mrs. F was played by Elsa Lanchester, a British character actress who first appeared in silent shorts by H.G. Wells. More than eighty years later, word is that filmmakers are gunning for an actress high on sex appeal. Of course, she’s also got to be able to invite audiences into her convincing, hair-raising Crazytown—population, one fiery bridezilla.

While there’s neither a writer nor a director officially attached to the project—Neil Burger (“The Illusionist”) is in talks for both jobs—it’s never to early too speculate about which Hollywood starlet is best fit to take on the title role.

Helen Hunt: The loveable spouse from “Mad About You”? The harried, vulnerable waitress from “As Good as It Gets”? Well, yes and no. Hunt may have graduated to everywoman parts, but in the early ‘80s she appeared in an after-school special—a cheesetastic performance in which she snorts PCP, goes insane, hurls herself out a window and starts screaming like a banshee, “I’m invincible,” as she slices her arm with glass shards. Hunt can bring the crazy, and Hollywood is always in need of a reminder that women in their 40s can also bring the sexy.

Michael BayMichael Bay may be going a step further than merely taking "a year off" between directing "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "Transformers 3." The Hollywood action and explosion guru told MTV News previously that he wanted to take a break following this year's blockbuster to focus on a "small movie," but those ambitions appear to have spurred a complete departure from the franchise, leaving an open chair for the series' next director.

"After the three and a half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world," Bay told WENN. "I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions." Read More...

I'll bet there was never a changing of the guard like this at Buckingham Palace before! As usual, Brüno's antics leave me with very little to say. The pictures tell the whole story. Click on the one below for a visual tour of last night's "Brüno" premiere in London.

AntichristGenital mutilation! I know that got your attention. I'm not using as a means of misdirection either. Genital mutilation really does apply to the news I have to share.

You may or may not have heard, but one of the films that generated a lot of buzz at the Cannes International Film Festival this year was director Lars Von Trier's "Antichrist," starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg. That's not to say it was well-received. Or poorly received. It was certainly received however, with its shocking depictions of sexuality and graphic violence. How shocking... well let's just say that I'm not comfortable printing the gory details here. Read More...

Robert PattinsonFROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Apparently Hollywood Crush isn’t the only site imploring blood-thirsty fans to give Robert Pattinson some breathing room while he films “Remember Me” in New York City. RPattz fan site, LetMeSign.com just launched the “Respect Me” campaign (complete with downloadable “Respect Me” banners and accompanying Twitter page asking that the 23-year-old’s privacy be safeguarded.

“So, we are really really tired and mad with those girls, the media and fansites that have been publishing things about his PRIVATE life and/or stalking him everywhere,” reads a statement on the site. “We know that now he is under the spotlight and everyone wants to know what is he doing or where he is, but there are ways to do so properly. … He is not an OBJECT, he is a human being that NEEDS to walk, breathe, WORK or even smoke in peace!”

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullEarlier this week, Shia LaBeouf revealed that "Indiana Jones" creator Steven Spielberg has "cracked the story" on the next "Indiana Jones" movie. That's hardly the confirmation that fans might be hoping for, but none of us have any reason to believe that the "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" star would lie.

Still, it's always good to hear from other folks surrounding a project during these early, pre-production stages. Or not I suppose, if you didn't care for "Crystal Skull." Regardless of how you feel, there's additional word on "Indy 5," this time from producer Frank Marshall. Read More...

Jackson RathboneFROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: I’m certain there are, oh, an army’s worth of “Twilight” fans out there who’d do almost anything to become Cullen vampire Jackson Rathbone’s girlfriend. Alas, that’s probably not going to happen any time soon. But Jasper Cullen devotees most certainly will have a shot to see Jackson in a film called “Girlfriend” in the future, as the Texas-born actor revealed to MTV News during a recent conversation.

“I’m actually producing my first film this year called ‘Girlfriend,’” he says. “New director Justin Lerner kind of made a splash at a couple festivals last year with a short film he did.”

Tom CruiseLike MTV Movies Blog editor Adam Rosenberg, I too am a fan of "Mission: Impossible III," and I'm happy to hear that series star Tom Cruise and "III" director J.J. Abrams will reunite for a fourth outing with Ethan Hunt and the IMF gang.

What really catches my interest is the latest news from The Hollywood Reporter, which confirms TV Guide's earlier scoop of Abrams and Cruise's return to the franchise. It's not the confirmation that has my spider-sense tingling but the insinuation that Cruise might no longer be the face of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. Citing an unnamed executive source, the THR story mentions that he might hand the reigns over to a younger actor, or even to an ensemble. Read More...

M. Night ShyamalanFROM SPLASH PAGE: On the surface, it might look like M. Night Shyamalan has moved on from “Unbreakable,” the director’s fourth feature film. After all, he’s already hip-deep in production on “The Last Airbender,” his adaptation of the popular animated series — does he really have enough room in his geek bone to revisit the moody superhero film?

During a recent press event, Shyamalan addressed that very question as put forth by MTV News — is he still considering “Unbreakable 2″? According to the director, that answer is a resounding yes.

Judd ApatowIn Hollywood these days, few names are as desired on the movie marquee as that of Judd Apatow -- the 800-pound-gorilla of all that is funny. Now he’s ready to unveil his third directorial effort after “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and “Knocked Up” –- two comedies that caused more pants-peeing than the Big Gulp at 7-11. Apatow's July 31st release, conveniently (and seemingly autobiographically) titled “Funny People,” is looked to with anticipation by the same loyal fans who have been won over by his family-and-fart-jokes formula.

“We all collaborate from the inception,” Apatow explained of his key to comedy success in the Adam Sandler film and beyond. “As soon as I start writing, I call the actors and talk about what I’m doing, and then we rehearse and improvise.” Read More...
