Ok, it's not your classic, generation-one, animated cartoon, but I jumped at the chance to see a preview of the new flick two days early. And it's good. And better than the first.

Let me refine those statements. My thought process mirrors the concept of suspension of disbelief. It’s much like when you see "High School Musical" and people sing songs to solve their troubles. You accept that this is reality. In "Revenge Of The Fallen," you know that you're going to get these gnarled, new Transformers. They'll never be the shiny and clean robots you expect, but you accept them. This is why Michael Bay's second iteration is better than the first.

With that being said, there are few great things that old-school fans will enjoy.

Optimus Primes' Energon sword:
Back in the day of the cartoon series, Optimus and Megatron had special combat weapons made of energy. Although Prime's new weapon is a sword, it’s still incredible that he wields it like a ninja.

This morning I scared the crap out of you readers with a first look at Johnny Depp made up as The Mad Hatter in a promo shot for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland." You burn it into your retinas for future sleepless nights right here:

Alice in Wonderland

Yes, it's terrifying. As any proper Tim Burton adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" should be. Of course, Burton has quite a lengthy history with Depp. Not counting "Alice," the duo have made six films together. It's been a fascinating evolution for Depp from character to character, as you'll see in the gallery after the jump. Read More...

Doug JonesA couple weeks ago, I posted about Guillermo del Toro making some comments on two of his upcoming projects, "The Hobbit" and "Frankenstein." Specifically, he commented on the participation of one Doug Jones, a frequent del Toro collaborator. He was the body of Abe Sapien in both "Hellboy" flicks (to David Hyde Pierce's voice), Pan in "Pan's Labyrinth" and a mutant cockroach-thing in "Mimic."

In the older interview, del Toro revealed that Jones will play some unrevealed part in "The Hobbit," prequel to Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and the title role of the monster in the director's down-the-road adaptation of "Frankenstein." Sci Fi Wire cornered Jones this past weekend, when he appeared at the Wizard's World Philadelphia convention. The actor was happy to clarify some of del Toro's revelations from his own perspective. Last weekend, MTV's Josh Horowitz sat down with "Year One" stars Jack Black and Michael Cera for an interview. Many things were discussed, including birthdays, pre-history survival tips and -- everyone's favorite topic -- "Heavy Metal." Josh also asked Black about the recent talk surrounding him and a certain "Star Trek" director.

What talk am I referring to, you ask? It wasn't much really. Some rumors popped up that Black and Abrams had discussed the possibility of the actor stepping into the still-unwritten "Star Trek" sequel as Harry Mudd. AICN debunked the Mudd rumor, but gleaned no further information. That's where the below clip comes in: the discussions involved Black doing a musical comedy which Abrams will produce. Watch for the (admittedly brief) details.

Kevin WilliamsonA few more years, and Twitter will put all of us working writers out of business. It's amazing how much information can be imparted in 140 character bursts. For example, a (now removed) weekend Tweet from "Scream" creator Kevin Williamson revealed that his newly planned trilogy may require some creative re-casting. In the writer's own words: "Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won't do it. This sucks."

"She," of course, is "Scream" star Neve Campbell. While it hadn't been made clear earlier exactly what Williamson's plans are for the coming trilogy, he'd revealed that he hoped to bring back as many characters as possible. The Arquettes, David and Courteney Cox, are already in talks. Frightmaster Wes Craven has suggested that he might even be game to direct again. Campbell bowing out isn't the kiss of death for the return to "Scream," but it will certainly hurt. More than any of us know, apparently... Read More...

Last night was Spike TV's Guys' Choice Awards, at which Halle Berry received honors for her "Decade of Hotness." Oy. Anyway, Berry shared a... ahem... "special" moment with Jamie Foxx when she kissed him passionately as he presented her award.

Foxx shared his thoughts on the incident in an interview with MTV. More importantly, he shared those thoughts while delivering pretty spot-on Mike Tyson impression. The clip kind of speaks for itself, so check it out below.

Roberto Orci and Alex KurtzmanIt shouldn't come as any surprise that pen has not yet been put to paper on a sequel to J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek." For starters, the first one is still in theaters. There's also the fact that writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have been busy promoting and prepping a few smaller projects. You know, stuff like "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

It was this week's Michael Bay spectacle that landed Collider some face time with the writing duo. Kurtzman and Orci obviously aren't revealing any of the specific ideas they have in mind but they did speak rather generally about what their plans are for the next entry in the rebooted franchise.
