Hey all... I'm Adam Rosenberg, and I'm new here. I am no longer "the new guy" as of today, but I started in early May and pretty much fell into the onslaught of madness leading into last Sunday's 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Now that the post-Awards crush of stories has simmered down, I thought I'd take this as an opportunity to introduce myself to y'all.
First thing you all should know -- and I believe I've said it before on the blog -- is that I'm not a "Twilight" fan. I don't have anything against it at all. I just haven't seen it and haven't read it. This is a situation I intend to correct very soon, since so many of you appreciate the coverage. For the moment though, my "Twilight" knowledge is relatively light. I hope you'll forgive me for that.
I do possess a deep love for film. Some of my earliest memories in life are set in movie theaters. I vividly remember seeing "Ghostbusters" with my dad, hiding my head in his shoulder during the scary parts, and "E.T." at the drive-in, with mom and tinfoil-wrapped plates of BBQ'ed lamb chops. Yum.
The folks here at MTV have already built Movies Blog up into an impressive space, so it would be easy for me to just step in and maintain the status quo. That's not my plan though. We have some great writers contributing to the site, real human beings with names and interests and points of view. My hope is that we'll be rolling out more over the next few weeks and months to showcase each person's unique perspective, to give you a reason to keep coming back even when there's no "New Moon" trailer premiere to brag about.
At the end of the day, you readers are what's most important. If there's stuff you want to see that we're not covering, let us know. If you agree or disagree with a voiced opinion on the blog, share your thoughts. We're reporting news here of course, but the hope is that we're also adding to the dialogue. I can't promise that I or the other writers will always respond, be we will always be listening. All I ask is that you be respectful and keep things civil.
