Robert. Kristen. Taylor. Paramore. The kiss. The fight. "Twilight."
By now, it’s the stuff of legend – and come Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards, the stars of “Twilight” seem likely to finally receive all the little gold statues that confirm their significance in the world of pop culture. Which made it all the cooler today when I visited the house of director Catherine Hardwicke for a rare opportunity to see where it all began.

I know many of you Twilighters have had the pleasure of meeting Catherine in person, and let me tell you – she’s every bit as sweet and eager-to-please as you would expect. She met me and MTV’s Tim Kash at the door of her Venice home, introduced us to her cat, the Black Velvet Luxury Item, and gave us an awesome tour to celebrate the film's seven Movie Award nominations. If the pressure of live television in front of 6,000 celebrities, broadcast to millions of television sets isn't enough, MTV Movie Awards host Andy Samberg is stepping onto some seriously hallowed ground.
The Gibson Amphitheatre sits just over the hill from the famous Hollywood sign. It was originally built in 1972 as an outdoor venue but was converted into an indoor theater 10 years later. It's the third-largest theater in all of California, holding 6,189 audience members. Read more...

FROM THE NEWSROOM: I was always told that it's good to cry, because it helps to release a lot of built-up emotions. It makes it even more gratifying when you cry because you're laughing so hard.
That happened today when I talked to Andy Samberg as he prepares for his hosting gig for the MTV Movie Awards. We met up at the back of the Gibson Amphitheatre on the Universal Studios lot. This is the area where the limos pick up the stars when the show is over. There is also a patio where the stars come to mingle and do press when the festivities end.

Hey folks... I just wanted to remind you again that our ultra-fancy countdown widget for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards is up and ready to go. It's a snap to install on your web page, blog or social networking service of choice... or anywhere else that can correctly read and process HTML code.
As an added bonus, we've sprinkled the widget with so much digital fairy dust that it will literally transform from ticking clock into streaming video window once the timer reaches zero. And just in case you really need it spelled out for you, said streaming video window will hook you in directly with the broadcast of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.
This year's awards show will be epic, especially with exclusive clip premieres from "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" as well as... wait for it... the debut of the first "New Moon" trailer. There's still time to vote, so do it now if you haven't already.

DreamWorks Animation and its recently renewed CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg today unveiled big announcements for the studio's animation plans through 2012, with new sequels for the "Shrek," "Kung-Fu Panda," and "Madagascar" franchises and parts for Robert Downey Jr. and Tina Fey in next year's "Oobermind." The flurry of announcements came during an investor's call in which Katzenberg also issued an edict that all forthcoming Dreamworks Animation features will be produced in 3-D.
"We now have three very successful franchises, but we also want to tell new stories," DWA co-prexy of production Bill Damaschke told Variety. "Now, in addition to one or two sequels a year, we’ll have a new original as well." Read more...

I wasn’t the only one surprised to hear Kevin Smith would be taking the stage at New York’s vaunted Carnegie Hall in June for a night of probably lewd, certainly hilarious storytelling. Nor was I the only one surprised that Smith’s original title for the performance—an unprintable and unconventional euphemism for oral sex—was rejected by Carnegie brass.
“Who wouldn’t go to that show?” Smith joked with MTV News.
Instead the “Clerks” director’s June 17th debut will be called “Silent Bob Speaks: An Evening with Kevin Smith” (tickets can still be purchased online). Other than the title switch, Smith has received no stipulations or restrictions in terms of content. Expect the same Q&A format that Smith has employed successfully during countless appearances on college campuses.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: It’s been nearly a month since J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” made headlines for its impressive opening weekend, but Trekkies old and new still have plenty of unanswered questions when it comes to the rebooted franchise — especially concerning the reimagined histories of its main characters. In that shared spirit of curiosity, IDW will release a new four-issue miniseries centering on Starfleet’s favorite half-Vulcan entitled “Spock: Reflections” beginning in July.
Written by Scott Tipton and David Tipton (”Star Trek: Mirror Images”) with art by David Messina (”Star Trek: Countdown“), “Reflections,” aims to round out Spock’s origins by shedding light on his activities leading up to the events of the film, specifically his childhood on the planet Romulus.

MTV News welcomes Shelly Morrison as our official Movie Awards Insider for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. From now until the big show on Sunday, Shelly will be mixing it up with the hottest celebrities and taking you behind closed doors for one of Hollywood's biggest events.
Hey guys! I just had my first celebrity encounter out at Runyon Canyon, and my hug count is officially up to one. I got to interview Luke Goss, who played Prince Nuada in "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."
He was so great and a really nice guy. We talked about what it felt like being nominated in two Movie Awards categories, Best Villain and Best Fight Scene, as well as what workout routine he had to maintain to build up for the fight scene with Ron Perlman (a.k.a. Hellboy). Read more...

I love me some David Twohy. Dude definitely has some clunkers in his portfolio -- I'm looking at you, "Waterworld." I don't care though. He wrote and directed "Pitch Black," which also means that Vin Diesel's Richard B. Riddick character is Twohy's creation. He also wrote classics along the lines of "Warlock," "Critters 2: The Main Course" and a little-known movie called "The Fugitive."
Now Twohy has climbed back into the writer/director's chair after an extended post-"Chronicles of Riddick" break. "A Perfect Getway," starring Chris Hemsworth (aka Kenneth Branagh's Thor), Milla Jovovich, Timothy Olyphant and Steve Zahn, follows a newlywed couple (Zahn and Jovovich) who are off on a hiking honeymoon in Hawaii. Somewhere along the trails they run into some shady hikers and... well... things get weird. Check out the new trailer to see for yourself.
