Yesterday we told you that the first season of the classic "Trek" has arrived on Blu-ray, and now we're back to report that all six of the "first generation" films have also made their way to HD. Remastered in high-def and sporting new audio tracks, the collection presents the "Star Trek" films as they have never been seen before.
Two different packages have been assembled, one collecting all six films and another collecting the first three. Each of the films carries over the special features from previous releases, but more importantly delivers nearly three hours of brand new bonus content specially recorded in high-def (and 14 hours total including the standard-def extra).

When Kevin Smith stopped by the MTV News offices recently and we asked if he had any advice for upcoming Movie Awards host Andy Samberg, I was thinking Smith would say something along the lines of, “Dude, remember to brush your teeth!”
See, back in 1999 Smith and buddy Ben Affleck took to the Movie Awards stage to present the Golden Popcorn statue for Best New Filmmaker to “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels” director Guy Ritchie. And, well, one thing led to another, and suddenly Smith and Affleck were making out on stage until Affleck broke the embrace and announced that Smith needed to work on his oral hygiene.
A decade later, Kevin has only fond memories of his time playing kissy face with Ben on national TV. Check out the video below to see the real advice the director has for Samberg before the Movie Awards show (this Sunday, May 31 at 9 p.m. ET), including the possibility of the “SNL” funnyman flashing a nipple and marrying "Motherlover" digital short co-star Justin Timberlake.

FROM MTV.COM: Since Dennis Miller emceed the inaugural MTV Movie Awards in 1992, "Saturday Night Live" has proven to be a fertile breeding ground for our awards-show hosts. "SNL" vets like Eddie Murphy, Jimmy Fallon and Mike Myers have since captained the Movie Awards, and this Sunday, May 31, at 9 p.m., Andy Samberg will assume hosting duties for the first time.
With just days to go until the big night, two men who have themselves quarterbacked MTV awards shows — "Get Him to the Greek" co-stars Russell Brand and Sean "Diddy" Combs — dealt out some wise words for Samberg heading into Sunday's action.

FROM MTV.COM: Bless Mark Burnett. He does our jobs for us. Host Andy Samberg and performer Eminem top Burnett's list of reasons to tune in to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday at 9pm, which he promises will be an "edgy, unpredictable" event.
Trailing not too far behind in the reality TV giant's list of reasons to watch is the veritable smorgasbord of exclusive movie clips premiering at the show, from the likes of "New Moon," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

Did “Terminator Salvation” thrill you, bore you or simply tick you off? No matter how you feel, you’ll definitely want to take a look at a feature we just took live over on the MTV Movies page, in which director McG answers some burning plot questions from you guys.
And thanks to the power of the Movies Blog, here are four more questions McG was eager to sink his teeth into. Think of them as bonus features, minus the DVD:
Q: In the earlier movies, Skynet is not aware of Kyle Reese. So, why are they aware of him now? Read more...

A new movie from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is always something to be excited about -- but if they recruit every pants-wettingly funny actor in existence to join them, then it may just be akin to a religious experience. We'll find out soon, because Variety reports that Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Jane Lynch have joined the cast of "Paul."
Directed by Greg Mottola ("Superbad," "Adventureland") and written by Pegg and Frost, "Paul" centers on two British comic book geeks who are enjoying a road trip to Comic-Con. Whether they accidentally happen upon Area 51 or go out of their way to visit it is unclear at this point, but they wind up befriending a small, escaped alien named Paul. Cue comic and extraterrestrial mayhem (but the good kind, not the "Howard the Duck" ugliness) as the two geeks help the little alien find his way home. Read more...

As you "Twilight"-ers know, Jackson Rathbone has already played around in the world of the undead. According to Blabbermouth.net, his newest role may have him exploring real life horror as Norwegian death metal singer Varg Vikernes in "Lords of Chaos."
Vikernes, a.k.a. Count Grishnackh, was a prominent member of the Norwegian death metal scene of the 1990s. He was the head of the one man musical project Burzum, until he was arrested and convicted for the murder of Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth, guitarist and co-founder of the band Mayhem, for reasons that remain unclear. Vikernes was also found guilty of committing arson against several Norwegian churches, which he claimed he had destroyed because they had desecrated pagan burial grounds. He was sentenced to to 21 years in prison, of which he served 16 before being released in March of this year. Read more...

Really folks. What would we do without Michael Ausiello? The dude pulls out some fantastic scoops on his Entertainment Weekly TV blog, The Ausiello Files. Take today. We all learned that another "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie is in the works, and that it will draw it's primary inspiration from the original 1992 movie, the one starring Kristy Swanson. Not Joss Whedon's much-loved TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
It kinda sorta makes no sense, right? There are reasons of course. This latest "Buffy" initiative is being spearheaded by the movie's director, Fran Rubel Kuzui. You should go back and read this morning's update on the subject if you want more details. The key point I want you all to walk away with is that "Buffy" TV fans are in an uproar over Whedon's apparent non-involvement in the coming movie. Read more...

Are you still patiently waiting for more Count Olaf? It’s been five years since the adaptation of "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" hit theaters, a reasonable enough amount of time to assume that a sequel probably isn't going to happen. Of course, that doesn’t stop author Daniel Handler (aka “Lemony Snicket”) and adaptation director Brad Silberling from occasionally giving hope to fans. Silberling, whose new film “Land of the Lost” opens next week, recently had the following to say to CineFOOLS on the subject:
“I actually think it's going to see the light of day. [Handler and I] stay in constant touch about it, because I would love nothing more than to do that and we've been hoping to, so I think there will be a chance it may take a wildly different form, but I think it will probably happen.” Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Steve Niles might like writing savage, crafty vampires like those that invade Alaska in his “30 Days of Night” comics, but that doesn’t mean that he lacks a soft spot for the the classier, romantic bloodsuckers in Stephenie Meyers’ “Twilight” books. Quite to the contrary, the horror writer behind “Wake the Dead” and “Freaks of the Heartland” has nothing but the utmost respect for his colleagues who take a softer approach to their vampire stories.
“It’s just a different way of looking at things,” Niles told MTV News. “Everybody assumes that from watching ‘30 Days of Night’ that I hate Anne Rice and the whole notion of romantic vampires, but it’s actually just the opposite.”
