Ralph Fiennes may be squeezing time in between "Harry Potter" scenes to play Hades after all, as Louis Leterrier's refurbished "Clash of the Titans" film went into production this week. Also starring Liam Neeson as Zeus and Sam Worthington as Perseus, the movie is a remake of the 1981 classic by the same title, which was directed by Desmond Davis and produced by legendary special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen.
The new "Clash of the Titans" is scheduled to film at studios in London, as well as locales in Wales and the Spanish Canary Islands, with some aerial work being done in Ethiopia and Iceland, according to a press release from Warner Bros.
Fiennes' character Hades will reportedly have a larger role in the remake than he did in the 1981 version. Additionally, actor Mads Mikkelsen will be stepping on to play a new character, Draco, who heads the Praetorian Guard in the Greek myth imbibed story. The classic tale follows its hero Perseus as he embarks on an epic quest to prevent Hades from toppling Zeus as ruler of the Earth and unleashing Hell across the planet.
Letterier will be working once again with his character designer from "The Incredible Hulk," Aaron Sims, on "Clash of the Titans."
Fiennes should be sufficiently exhausted by the end of 2009 as the two-part "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is also currently in production, where he continuing on Lord Voldemort.
