Demetri MartinContributed by Christopher Campbell

When it comes to “Daily Show” correspondents finding success in the movies, Steve Carell will probably never be beat in terms of box office. But now that Demetri Martin has been cast in Steven Soderbergh’s next film “Moneyball,” the latter comedian has at least already bettered his “Daily Show” predecessor in terms of prestige roles. Martin, who also currently stars in his own hit Comedy Central series, “Important Things with Demetri Martin,” can soon be seen in Ang Lee’s “Taking Woodstock.”

According to Variety, he will go from one Oscar-winning auteur to another by next portraying real-life statistician Paul De Podesta in Soderbergh’s adaptation of Michael Lewis’ non-fiction book about Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane. Read More...

The cavemen era seems ripe for comedy but surprisingly little has come by way of Hollywood. That's about to change when Harold Ramis unleashes "Year One," a primitive-themed comedy starring Jack Black and Michael Cera as two hunter-gatherers banished from their village. The two begin a road trip across the ancient world and, naturally, hilarity ensues.

Take a look at our exclusive clip from the film below (or watch in HD here), and then click here to read our "Year One" preview as part of our Summer Movie Preview Week. "Year One" hits theaters June 19.

'Handsome Harry'The Tribeca Film Festival doesn’t officially get underway till Wednesday, but a number of this year’s films have had pre-fest screenings – everything from a documentary by Eric Bana, the actor, about Eric Bana, the race-car driver; and a horror flick about the inadvisability of taking babysitting jobs with practicing Satanists. Two pictures already stand out, though. Both defy genre pigeonholing and both, I think, will be stirring up appreciative buzz over the course of the 12-day festival.

One of these is “Here and There,” a deadpan romantic comedy by Serbian director Darko Lungulov. The movie was shot in both Belgrade, Lungulov’s home town, and New York, where he studied filmmaking. It concerns a glum, down-and-out Manhattan saxophone player named Robert (David Thornton) who in order to make some money accepts an offer by a young Serbian expatriate (Branislav Trifunovic) to travel to Belgrade, marry the guy’s girlfriend (in order to get her a green card) and bring her back to New York. 'Spider-Man: The Short Halloween'FROM SPLASH PAGE: Back in February, we brought you the news of an upcoming collaboration between Marvel Comics and "Saturday Night Live" regulars Bill Hader and Seth Meyers, titled "Spider-Man: The Short Halloween." The single-issue story promised to take a tongue-in-cheek look at the misadventures of a costumed party-goer mistaken for the real wallcrawler and kidnapped by Spider-Man's foes.

Along with an original story by the comics-savvy "SNL" duo, "The Short Halloween" features art by Kevin Maguire -- the man who helped put the "funny" back in funnybooks during the late '80s alongside another comedic duo, "Justice League" writers Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis.

Christian BaleThis may be the sternest film that goes into production this year -- but given the names involved, it will probably be one of the best. Variety is reporting that Christian Bale has joined Mark Wahlberg for "The Fighter," and that David O. Russell may be along to direct the grim, tense ride.

"The Fighter" is the true life tale of Boston fighter "Irish" Mickey Ward (played by Wahlberg), who was coached to the world lightweight championship by his half-brother, Dicky Eklund (played by Bale). After suffering a number of defeats, Ward was ready to retire until pushed back into the ring by his brother. Read More...

Warner Bros. has released four new posters that pair up characters in action. Daniel Radcliffe predictably teams up with Michael Gambon. Emma Watson makes magic with Jim Broadbent. Alan Rickman and Tom Felton make up an evil duo. And, last but not least, Weasley siblings Rupert Grint and Bonnie Wright make up the fourth poster.

These posters are just the latest in a whole barrage of treats for "Potter" fans in the past couple of weeks. Last week's biggest news was the brand new trailer that hit the Web, and a close second was the release date shift< ?a>. Both were great news for fans. At least that's what they jokingly wanted folks to think. The pair star in Judd Apatow's forthcoming "Funny People," about a dying comic (Sandler) who takes an aspiring stand-up comedian (Rogen) under his wing during his final days.

The roles forced Sandler and Rogen to hit the local comedy clubs to get their schtick down...a sobering thought for anyone. You can read their reactions to the method acting in our video below, and then click here to read the rest of our "Funny People" preview.

Back in 2007, audiences waited to see just how closely to the original "Halloween" director Rob Zombie was taking his remake. Well, Zombie was wondering the same thing. For his follow-up however, there are no questions whose vision this is.

"The first one, it was like a true remake, reimagining, whatever the hell people want to call it," Zombie says. "So you had to go through the beats of, 'How much do you keep? How much do you change? What do the fans expect? What don't they expect?' Because if it's too similar it's a waste of time, and if it's too different everyone's upset. But on this one, it's, 'Do whatever you want.' " Click here to read our full interview with Zombie from the set of "Halloween 2," and watch a short snippet below.

Emma WatsonWhile “Twilight” actresses Kristen Stewart, Rachelle Lefevre, Ashley Greene and others recently made their own career breakthroughs, such fan madness is old-hat for Emma Watson. Which is all the more amazing when you consider that the world-famous actress otherwise known as Hermione Granger is still only 18 years old.

Recently, we caught up with the sweet-smiling superstar her eagerness to watch “Half-Blood Prince,” and whether she’d ever bare all for a role a la Daniel Radcliffe. And naturally, we had to ask the star of this generation’s first book-to-film teen blockbuster series what she thought about the “Twilight” phenomenon. Read More...
