Looking back at August 2005, most people think of Hurricane Katrina, not about the time CBGB was in danger of closing. Not me.

The footage in this clip is from the Tribeca Film Festival contender "Burning Down the House: The Story of CBGB." Oh, and I shot it. Wait, what? It looks like some MTV News footage, right? Apparently the filmmakers licensed the footage that I shot for MTV News to flesh out their movie, which means -- awesome! -- I worked on a movie that's in the Tribeca Film Fest.

The best part? Had I not been walking by a co-worker's desk when she was watching the clip, I never would have known. (Thanks, Rachel.) Read More...

Christopher "Biggie" Wallace was larger than life, so it only made sense that his tale was ripe for Hollywood. We got that in "Notorious," a biopic which followed his life from the streets to the heights of fame, to his eventual murder in 1997. Along the way we're greeted by a flock of familiar faces, including 'Lil Kim and P. Diddy.

It was one of Fox Searchlight's biggest openings ever, and now its hitting store shelves in DVD and Blu-ray. Below check out one of his early rap battles, and then click here to check out more exclusive bonus clips.

David CronenbergDavid Cronenberg has moved away from the genre in which he made his name. The auteur behind some of the most influential—and terrifying—horror flicks around, like “Scanners” and “The Brood,” left behind his low-budget cult classics more than twenty years ago in favor of more expensive sci-fi and thriller projects. In recent years, he’s plowed into even more mainstream but no less critically respected fare with two Viggo Mortensen films, “A History of Violence” and “Eastern Promises.” Currently, he’s at work on a Jason Bourne-esque spy thriller called "The Matarese Circle" that’s likely to star Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington.

All of which has led devoted horror fans to wonder if Cronenberg is done making genre pictures forever. Well, rest easy.

“I would return to the genre if I had a project that I really liked,” Cronenberg told MTV News in a recent interview. Read More...

Brad Pitt in 'Inglorious Basterds'Contributed by Christopher Campbell

The lineup for this year’s Cannes Film Festival has officially been announced, and it’s being noted for the amount of big-name filmmakers selected for its Competition program. Variety calls it “Cannes' biggest heavyweight auteur smackdown in recent years,”while other websites are criticizing the shortage of both new talent and American titles. Regarding the latter lack, though, Quentin Tarantino’s debut of “Inglourious Basterds” (previously reported to be premiering at the fest) should make enough noise for the U.S. to overshadow its strictly European and Asian competitors. McGWith the “Charlie’s Angels” films in his rearview mirror and “Terminator Salvation” opening next month, the director known as McG has the world of Hollywood blockbusters at his feet. So what’s next? How about a 139-year-old book?

“I’m working on ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ for Disney,” he told us when we caught up with him recently. “I’m prepping that.”

For those of you who don’t already know, “Leagues” is based on a book by sci-fi trailblazer Jules Verne. It tells the story of a crew who encounter a monstrous menace under the sea, getting thrown overboard while trying to catch the beast. They come to meet Captain Nemo, mastermind of a scheming plot on civilization. Now, all these decades after Verne originally imagined the adventure story, McG plans to re-interpret it for the CGI age. Read More...

Cameron DiazCameron Diaz isn't sitting around bored while she waits for Tom Cruise to rewrite their potential romantic comedy, "Wichita." She's readying her next role as a legal eagle in Warner Bros' legal comedy, "Bobbie Sue."

According to Variety, Diaz will play a "hard-charging ambulance chaser" whose casual attitude towards those pesky things known as "legal ethics" led to her being recruited by a prestigious law firm. They want her to help out one of their powerful clients who is being sued for sexual discrimination. Obviously, he is as guilty and sleazy as they come, and none of the classy lawyers want to touch him, making it a perfect case for the lawless Bobbie Sue. Read More...

James MarsdenMoviegoers know James Marsden as a big screen boy scout thanks to roles in "X-Men," "Enchanted," "27 Dresses" and "Superman Returns." But he's just taken a role that will turn that image on his head, as The Hollywood Reporter says that he's signed to star in Rod Lurie's remake of "Straw Dogs."

The original "Straw Dogs" was directed by Sam Peckinpah, and starred Dustin Hoffman and Susan George. It follows a timid, pacifist professor named David (played by Hoffman) who decides the Vietnam protests on his college campus are just too much, and relocates to his wife's native village of Cornwall.

'Twilight'In case you haven’t heard the news, the director of “Eclipse” has been officially chosen. And my own personal first thoughts when I heard the news? Well, I have like a million of them.

I’ve interviewed David Slade before, and he’s a very smart, charismatic guy who harnesses some immense filmmaking tools. That said, I definitely thought “30 Days of Night” was a disappointment. It had a lot of fatal flaws in it, usually whenever the blood would stop flowing and it was time for us to actually start caring about the characters. “Hard Candy” also flirted with moments of brilliance, but I still feel like Slade’s best work is ahead of him.
