The docs have performed their last astonishing surgery, threaded their remaining sutures, made out passionately in the supply closet for the final time: NBC’s “ER” is officially no more. Over 15 seasons, cast members have come, gone, and (sometimes) come again. A few went on to successful film careers, while others had originally retreated to network TV because their big screen livelihoods gave out like so many overworked hearts on the operating table. With the series finale still fresh in our memories, let’s take a look at the five cast members with the most memorable film careers (and a few who narrowly missed the list). Read more...

Has there been a force of nature that's hit theaters in the way "Borat" did in the past three years? It was so unexpected. So unstoppable. So refreshing. Could Sacha Baron Cohen possibly have done it again? "Bruno" can't possibly be what "Borat" was. After all, this time we know what to expect -- anything and everything. Still, the first glimpse of "Bruno" is here and it's hard to say it doesn't deliver. What do you think?

FROM SPLASH PAGE: For a man with a substantial chunk of geek cred — please see his publicly acknowledged “Dungeons and Dragons” loyalty — “Fast and Furious” star Vin Diesel has remained surprisingly squeamish when it comes to comic book films, declaring that he makes his own superhero characters instead. Interestingly, it might be that superheroes aren’t his preference, as the actor recently told MTV News that he’s got his eye on some more villainous roles.
“I would be more apt to play a villain,” Diesel revealed to MTV News. “[I'd like to play] the protagonist of a story that is also like a Marvel villain — like Doctor Doom or something.”

Girls, mark your calendars and start picking out your Manolos. The long-awaited, official announcement that "Sex and the City 2” will, in fact, return arrives by way of a release date: May 28, 2010.
According the Variety, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will all return with director/writer Michael Patrick King.
It seems Warner Bros. and New Line are hoping lightening will strike twice with their choice of opening weekend. "SATC 2" will hit theaters on the same weekend that it did for the first film's release, which was May 20, 2008. Read more...

The story appeared more than 300 years ago, but it seems as if Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels” was written with the specific idea that one day Jack Black might portray the title character. Lemuel Gulliver, after all, is a giant among the tiny Lilliputian people he encounters after a shipwreck, a man whose fish-out-water energy both meshes with and disrupts life for the native population.
Joining in the adventure -- which is part satire on the human condition, part fantastical travel epic, part absurdist comedy -- will be Emily Blunt. While promoting her newest film, “Sunshine Cleaning,” the British actress revealed fresh details about a “Gulliver’s” production that is still very much under wraps. Read more...

The Daniel Craig era of James Bond films kicked off a sea change for the franchise, confronting an era of modern-day terrorist operations and mixed national and corporate loyalties. Keeping Bond's adventures timely and relevant isn't the only challenge confronting filmmakers, though, according to the director from "Quantum of Solace." Keeping audiences wowed by Bond film locales is also becoming increasingly difficult.
"In a sense, Bond films lived because of locations," director Marc Forster told MTV News. "They’re sort of characters in the movies, so to find Bond locations these days is getting trickier and trickier." Read more...

Actor B.J. Novak said that Quentin Tarrantino's "Inglourious Basterds" is the "the coolest movie [he's] ever seen." Now, it appears the Cannes Film Festival will get an early shot at evaluating that praise when the film premieres there in May.
The movie, which stars Brad Pitt and is set in Nazi-occupied France during WWII, received a formal invitation from Cannes to appear. Tarantino in turn accepted, according to Variety.
Tarantino has a longstanding rapport with Cannes, having presiding over jury members there and received top Palme d'Or honors in 1994 for "Pulp Fiction." His films "Reservoir Dogs" and "Death Proof" also received screenings in 1992 and 2007, respectively. Read more...

OMG! Did you guys know that Kristen Stewart is on Twitter? Just like so many other movie stars, including ass-aficionados Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, the “Twilight” star is reaching out to her public and giving us the latest reports as she heads back to Vancouver to film “New Moon.” Or is she?
“Rob and i have become youtube geeks, it's so awesomely wierd [sic]!” tweeted ‘kristensss” recently. And when a fan asked her last week which store she’d turn up in for the big “Twilight” weekend DVD festivities, she replied: “I'm not allowed to say where I'm going to but yes the whole cast will be at different ones.” Read more...

You can already see the trailer: From the author who brought you Jason Bourne! And the visionary director who blew your mind with “Scanners” and broke your heart with “A History of Violence”! Tom Cruise…and Denzel Washington in…“The Matarese Circle”!!
It pretty much screams Hollywood blockbuster, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. For all the ink spilled in the trades and on the Internet over the adaptation of the Robert Ludlum novel, MGM has not yet green-lit the 'Matarese' project. In an exclusive interview with the man pegged to both write and direct, David Cronenberg revealed to MTV News that the movie, while still on track, is not yet a done deal—because there are neither contracts with the stars nor a final script in place.
