Back in February, Drew Barrymore had been one of the names tossed around as the director to take over the "Twilight" franchise for the film's third installment, "Eclipse." With no confirmations, but with speculation that Juan Antonio Bayona will direct the film, MTV News went straight to Ms. Barrymore herself to get the low down on where she stands to direct the film.
"Oh, I wish that I was! I adore that project and I adore the team that's making it," she told MTV News at the premiere of "Grey Gardens." Read more...

We’ve seen a lot of bands get the bigscreen treatment over the last few years, including the Rolling Stones, Metallica, U2, CSNY, the Jonas Brothers and most recently, Anvil. Now, it seems Pearl Jam is ready for its close-up, courtesy of director Cameron Crowe.
The “Almost Famous” filmmaker and former boy wonder reporter for Rolling Stone is prepping a documentary that will chronicle Pearl Jam's 20 years as a band in 2011.
Guitarist Mike McCready told Seattle’s “Ron & Don Show” that the group is “trying to do a movie with Cameron Crowe with all of our existing footage.” The plan is for the film to consist of existing concert, backstage and studio footage. Read more...

Filmmaker Eli Roth burst onto the scene a few years back with the gory, gruesome, great “Cabin Fever” and “Hostel” films, but has kept a relatively low profile ever since. Recently, he stopped by the MTV studio to tell us about his new top secret sci-fi screenplay, and the revolutionary double-barreled plan to finally film his “Grindhouse” trailer.
“I’m almost done with my new script,” revealed Roth, whose upcoming return to glory also includes his first major acting role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” this August. “I was actually almost done with it before ‘Basterds,’ but I had to put it down, and that was actually a good thing I took time away from it, but I’m going to finish that up and start shooting this fall.” Read more...

Holy hotness! If you are a member of young Hollywood, and if you're not Audrina Patridge attending your own movie premiere for "Into the Blue 2," you were absolutely on the "17 Again" red carpet last night. Zac Efron walked the carpet, with Vanessa Hudgens also in attendance for support (she looked gorgeous, btw). Zac's co-star and "Gossip Girl" villian Michelle Trachtenberg looked fantastic, the Jonas Brothers, the cast of this season's "American Idol" … where do we start?!
Mr. Efron was zactacular in a sleek and clean black suit and tie. Very classic, very "I could be going to the Oscars." The Nick, Joe and Kevin all coordinated their looks (as usual), playing off different shades of gray. Sounds boring, but it wasn't. "American Idol" favorite Adam Lambert rocked out in a black leather jacket and loads of guyliner. (Check out shots of all the boys after the jump, plus browse the entire "17 Again" premiere photo gallery.) Read more...

On "American Idol" last night, admitted "AI" fan Quentin Tarantino debuted brand new footage from his WWII dark comedy "Inglorious Basterds." In the featurette, we see Quentin pumping up his troops as well as Brad Pitt getting in some good lines, and the requisite action.
Check it out below and then check back here next Thursday as we unveil an exclusive from "Inglorious Basterds." The film hits theaters August 21.

“It’s like being on PCP or meth!” the director Breck Eisner explains. “Ex-girlfriend crazy, most of ‘em!” says Timothy Olyphant. “It’s all dependent on whether your mommy and daddy were nice to you!” his co-star Radha Mitchell decides.
They’re talking about the insanity-inducing, homicide-provoking effects of a military-grade bio-weapon that accidentally infects the water supply of a small Iowa town in the remake of George Romero’s 1973 horror flick “The Crazies.” While they may have different descriptions of what it’s like to become a diseased, blood-thirsty killer, during my visit to the set they are all in agreement about one thing: they’re not zombies!
“The most challenging thing for us was how do we make these Crazies not look like zombies, yet have a signature look that is dynamic and aggressive and memorable,” Eisner (“Sahara”) tells me before filming gets underway at a high school in central Georgia’s Peach County. Read more...

You've probably read about "Hills" star Audrina Patridge's upcoming film "Sorority Row," which also stars Rumor Willis and "Real World" alum (and "Dragonball" star) Jamie Chung, but the "The House on Sorority Row" remake will not be her movie debut. Last night Patridge attended the premiere of her straight-to-DVD flick "Into the Blue 2: The Reef," the sequel to Jessica Alba and Paul Walker's 2005 release.
Instead of Justin-Bobby, Brody (holy moly, Brody? REALLY? I can't wait for next Monday's show!) or any other "Hills" boytoy, Audrina walked the red carpet with her tattoo-covered sister, Casey. Audrina wore a very tasteful periwinkle blue, knee-length dress. V-necked and cinched at the waist, the dress covered up the actress way more than the clothes she usually wears on her TV show. (Check out photos of Audrina and Casey after the jump, plus more shots from the "Into the Blue 2" premiere gallery.) Read more...

In an interview a few weeks back, “Terminator Salvation” director McG told us that he was hoping to bring back “Terminator 2” favorite Robert Patrick for a fifth film. When we caught up with the filmmaker recently, he elaborated on his sequel plans – including the wide-open ending of the new flick.
“If we have good fortune we have indeed planned out two more ‘Terminator’ pictures,” explained the director, keeping his fingers crossed that “Salvation” opens strongly on May 21st. “There’s an arc of story [in the new sequels].” Read more...

There's only one thing Twilighters love more than "New Moon" updates, and that's hearing what your favorite "Twilight" actors are up to outside of the vampire franchise -- especially if they won't be returning to Forks, Washington any time soon. Cam Gigandet certainly falls into that category, but happily for fans, he's continuing to enjoy big screen success. Fresh off "The Unborn," Gigandet has signed to costar with "Gossip Girls" Leighton Meester in "The Roommate."
Meester will play Sara, a college who is randomly assigned to a freshman dorm, and stuck with a roommate named Rebecca. Unfortunately, Rebecca just happens to be deranged, and becomes obsessed with Sara, targeting her friends and family. According to Variety, Gigandet will play Meester's boyfriend, which means he'll be one of the unlucky targets. Read more...

Russell Brand's Aldous Snow will have a lot of help to "Get Him to the Greek," but it isn't Emily Blunt. Assisting the crazy-coiffed rocker instead will be Sean "P.Diddy" Combs, Rose Byrne ("Knowing"), and Elizabeth Moss ("Mad Men").
The "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" spin-off focuses on Brand's sex addicted rocker, Aldous Snow, who had left Marshall and Hawaii behind for newer, greener pastures. Snow falls off the wagon, gets hooked on cocaine and heroin, and is due in L.A. for a big comeback concert. It falls to Jonah hill, a superfan in "Marshall" and now a record executive intern, to make sure he gets to L.A. from London in one piece. Read more...
