Cameron Diaz isn't sitting around bored while she waits for Tom Cruise to rewrite their potential romantic comedy, "Wichita." She's readying her next role as a legal eagle in Warner Bros' legal comedy, "Bobbie Sue."
According to Variety, Diaz will play a "hard-charging ambulance chaser" whose casual attitude towards those pesky things known as "legal ethics" led to her being recruited by a prestigious law firm. They want her to help out one of their powerful clients who is being sued for sexual discrimination. Obviously, he is as guilty and sleazy as they come, and none of the classy lawyers want to touch him, making it a perfect case for the lawless Bobbie Sue.
But something must happen to make the ambulance chaser likeable. Will she realize the error of her ways? Will the powerful client end up being innocent? Will they fall in love?
The film's slapstick premise is a perfect fit for Diaz, and will reunite her with her "What Happens in Vegas" screenwriter Dana Fox. It will also be a return to the goofy antics she's built her career around, as Diaz has taken a serious turn with recent choices like "My Sister's Keeper" and "The Box." Will she be able to strike a new career path in drama, or will she cater to audiences with blonde and bubbly stories like "Bobbie Sue"?
MTV readers, what do you think of Diaz as a sleazy legal eagle? Are you tired of her comedic routine? Do you think she has to grow out of parts like "Bobbie Sue"? Or do you think she's perfect in them, and should steer clear of the serious stuff?
