'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' (1940)This is one of those movies I keep having to double check on to see if I'm reading it right -- Nicolas Cage in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"? Jay Baruchel taking over a role once played by Mickey Mouse? It seems like a SNL skit, doesn't it?

As odd as it seems to remake Mickey Mouse, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" has rounded out its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alfred Molina (the man of a million roles, but you probably know him best as Doc Ock in "Spider-Man 2") is set to play the evil magician Horvath.
Yep -- there's two magicians in this, which raises the stakes a little higher than some brooms. Read more...

Angelina Jolie in 'Salt'What a strange trip "Salt" has taken. The film originally had Tom Cruise in the title role but when he opted out, they changed the lead's gender to female and brought on no less than Angelina Jolie. "Salt" finds Jolie's character as a CIA agent accused of being a spy. She disguises her appearance and begins a Jason Bourne-style quest to prove her innocence.

Take a glimpse at Jolie as Evelyn Salt after the jump. Read more...

'Post Grad'Those who went to college probably remember the sheer terror of having to leave the comfy confines of campus in search of the great beyond. "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" star Alexis Bledel is facing just that experience in "Post Grad" (previously titled "The Post-Grad Survival Guide"). The upcoming summer comedy co-stars Zach Gilford, Rodrigo Santoro, Jane Lynch, Carol Burnett and...Michael Keaton (awesome).

In the film, Bledel heads home after graduation and begins the slow process of finding a new life, a new job and new love. "Post Grad" hits theaters August 14th; check out the teaser poster from the film after the jump. Read more...

'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance'Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle may hold Asian cinema in high esteem, but that doesn't mean a hotly rumored remake of Chan-wook Park's "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" is next in line for him to direct. In fact, it doesn't sound like the film was ever in line at all.

"I’ve seen the movie. I’ve seen [Park's] 'Oldboy' and 'Lady Vengeance,'" the "Slumdog Millionaire" director told MTV News in an exclusive interview outside this year's Oscars. "But no I was never going to do that. I don’t know where that story came from."

The original Korean film in question, "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance," follows a falsely accused young woman after she is incarcerated for murder, only to be released and sent on a mission of revenge against the people who framed her. Read more...

The original Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu has officially given his blessing to “Harold and Kumar” star John Cho, who will take over the role for May’s revamped “Star Trek” from J.J. Abrams. George Takei, who has portrayed Sulu since the original TV series’ launch in 1966, has nothing but praise for the young actor.

“I’ve seen John,” Takei told MTV News in an exclusive interview on red carpet of this year’s Oscars. “He’s performed at the East West Players many, many times.” Read more...

Emma StoneHe helped create the signature look of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” made Gwyneth Paltrow fat for “Shallow Hal,” and is currently turning Kanye West into a wrinkled old man for his upcoming “Stay Up! (Viagra)” music video. But at night, make-up and effects legend Tony Gardner is re-inventing the zombie.

“Basically, it’s the end of the world; the entire nation is zombies,” Gardner told us of “Zombieland,” which features Woody Harrelson and young rising stars Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Amber Heard and Mila Kunis, and is due in theaters in time for Halloween. “And [the humans] are trying to get from the east coast to the west coast.”

Judging from the plot (humans running from the living dead), “Zombieland” sounds like your typical end-of-the-world thriller - but the comedic elements promise something unique. “It’s a comedy,” Gardner insisted, looking past the ghastly nature. “It’s really funny.” Read more...

Leonardo DiCaprioThe world knows what Christopher Nolan's next movie isn't doing (i.e. returning to Gotham City) but no one knows just what it is. However, it's starting to take some shape with its casting, as according to The Hollywood Reporter, Leonardo DiCaprio is joining "Inception."

The film is now being described as "a contemporary sci-fi thriller set within the architecture of the mind." Nolan being Nolan, we all knew it would be something along the brain-bending lines of "Memento" and "The Prestige," so that description will have you looking for the story's twist before the film even begins rolling. Bruce WillisYesterday afternoon, news broke on the blogosphere that Kevin Smith's next movie would be "A Couple of Dicks." This was surprising to everyone, since he had stressed that "Red State" would be next on his plate, with a sci-fi comedy to follow.

Just as everyone was getting used to the idea of a new Smith project, and one that wasn't scripted by him (the script has been floating on the famous Black List, a yearly chronicle of best unmade scripts in Hollywood), the casting announcements came in. According to Variety, Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan are set to star -- and the film has been given a clean and shiny new title: "A Couple of Cops." Read more...
