"Jonny Quest" may soon reunite Dwayne Johnson with his "Race to Witch Mountain" director Andy Fickman. The WWE wrestler turned actor chose his words wisely but indicated that some big changes may be in store for the project. He also hinted that getting "High School Musical" star Zac Efron into the new film's lead role may be more important that sticking to a strict "Jonny Quest" adaptation.

"From what I know they’re going to go in a different direction," Johnson told MTV News. "Other than that I’m not quite sure what the details are just in terms of the creative." Read More...

Brendan Fraser in 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'If you liked seeing Brendan Fraser outrun 3-D dinosaurs in "Journey to the Center of the Earth" last year, you're in luck. According to Variety, New Line has put a sequel into production with Eric Brevig returning to direct, and Fraser and Josh Hutcherson expected to reprise their roles.

The fact that Jules Verne never penned a sequel to his novel isn't stopping anyone at New Line. The studio was considering setting a sequel in Atlantis before discovering a spec script by Richard Outten ("The Adventures of Brisco County Jr"). Outten's script is a fantasy story that imagines "Gulliver's Travels", "Treasure Island", and Verne's "Mysterious Islands" to have all happened on the same island. Read More...

Russell Brand was in true form on an elevator ride discussing his upcoming "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" sequel "Get Him to the Greek." The free-speaking Brit bit his tongue when it came to revealing cast additions, but he did confirm a few returning actors and revealed one noteworthy detail about Jason Segel's contributions.

“Jason Segel’s writing some songs for it,” Brand told MTV News. "Jason’s written some songs for [Brand's character] Aldous Snow to sing." Read More...

Sacha Baron Cohen in 'Bruno'By Rodrigo Perez

Must ... resist ... urge ... to ... wax ... hyperbolically. ... Failure ... appears ... imminent. A jaw-on-the-floor wow. Sacha Baron Cohen has done it again, delivering another WMD slam dunk of hysterically subversive mocku-comedy.

Universal Pictures screened 22 minutes of "Brüno" during the SXSW Fantastic Fest. In the movie, Cohen assumes the character of the flamboyantly gay Austrian TV reporter from his famed "Da Ali G Show," and from what we could tell from those glorious and deliciously wrong-yet-oh-so-right clips, Cohen has pushed the button to push all buttons. The stakes are higher, and Cohen seems to be flirting with a more dangerous powder keg of humor, the likes of which we've never seen before.

"Brüno" somehow makes "Borat" look like child's play, upping the ante on Cohen's aggressively offensive, squirm-worthy hilarity. With a recorded introduction by Cohen himself, the transgressive, outrageous and, at times, stunning footage was broken up into three sections: baby interviews, a fake Jerry Springer-like Texas-based talk show and the Ultimate Fighting Championship face-off (more on these in a sec). In describing each scene, the comedian revealed much of the film's plot. He also noted that all the gut-busting scenes were being shown in a longer form than they would be in the final theatrical version (i.e. with more painfully prolonged exposure to uncomfortably uproarious funniness than doctors would normally recommend). 'Russell Brand'Let’s play, “Cast That 1980s Comedy Remake.” Here’s how it works. I say, “Big," you say current "SNL" funnyman Bill Hader. Get it? I say, “Short Circuit," you say…loveable Pixar robot WALL-E. That’s right, well done! Try out the 1981 Dudley Moore boozy screwball comedy, “Arthur.” If you said anyone besides British comedian Russell Brand you a) should be ashamed of yourself and b) haven’t been reading the trades.

Brand is set to star in a Warner Bros. remake of “Arthur,” which followed an alcoholic ladies’ man who must marry a wealthy woman so he can keep his own enormous family fortune. When Brand stopped by the MTV News offices to chat about the release of his autobiography, “My Booky Wook” (which -- spoiler! -- recounts his years as a drug-abusing womanizer), he revealed some exclusive details about the upcoming “Arthur” production. Leighton MeesterContributed by Kathleen Newman-Bremang

Like so many of television’s leading ladies before her, Leighton has chosen to kick off her big budget film career with a classic genre: The Predictably Unpredictable Thriller. Let’s just say the transition hasn’t been the smoothest for some of her predecessors.

So, for Leighton’s sake, let’s take a look back at the TV ladies made the move to movies- and what we can learn from them. Read More...

Earlier this year, we brought you the news that The A-Team was reforming on the big screen courtesy of Ridley Scott and Joe Carnahan. Now they've got some '80s competition -- and considering how deadly he is with a toothpick and some bubble gum, they better watch out. Yes, that's right: We're getting MacGyver, the Movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line is developing the television series into a feature film, with an eye to turning it into a "global franchise." It's being put together by the De Laurentiis family and the series original creator, Lee Zlotoff. They're currently looking for a writer who can honor the character's place in pop culture while still making a solid adventure movie. Read More...
