Looks like the 2011 release date for “Transformers 3” is more than meets the eye! Director Michael Bay posted on his own forums early this morning (up late doing some editing on “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” perhaps?) that he agreed to an Independence Day opening in 2012, NOT 2011!

Bay indicated he “needs a break from fighting robots,” and to meet a 2011 release date for the second sequel in this toy movie franchise, he’d have to start prep work this September. “No way,” he wrote. “I said I was taking a year off from Transformers.” He also added, “Paramount made a mistake.”

Paramount execs are most likely scrambling after waking up to this news and perhaps a very terse voice mail from Bay, but we’re sure this will be resolved very soon. However, what if Paramount is dead-set on a 2011 release date? Read more...

Jesse EisenbergChris Evans ("Fantastic Four") and Jesse Eisenberg ("Adventureland") are both generating a lot of buzz these days, and now the duio are teaming up for a dramatic project that might bump both to the next level. According to Variety, they've signed to star in "Kill Your Darlings", a drama about the violent beginning of the Beat Generation. Evans will play Beat poet Jack Kerouac, and Eisenberg will play Allen Ginsburg, alongside Ben Whishaw ("The International") who will play Lucien Carr.

The beginning of the Beat Generation is a bizarre and gruesome one. The group was brought together in New York by Carr, who was being dogged by a man named David Kammerer. Kammerer and Carr had known each other as children and teenagers, and Kammerer had become obsessed with Carr, stalking him throughout his university career. Descending more and more into madness by Carr's rejection, Kammerer eventually attacked Carr, and Carr stabbed him to death. Read more...

Okay, that was an abuse of exclamation points. I'll be the first to admit that. It also happens to be untrue. Clearly Julia Roberts and Clive Owen get along famously. They worked to great acclaim together in "Closer" and now they're back in a much lighter caper of a flick called "Duplicity."

But just because they clearly enjoy each other's company doesn't mean they can't pretend to hate each other -- which is exactly what they do in the first part of our Rough Cut interview with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen below. Fair warning, this interview goes into an awesomely bonkers territory in the subsequent segments so do yourself a favor and watch the whole thing!

'Transformers'Without a director, any actors, a screenplay or even a title, do you actually have a movie? Paramount certainly thinks so, as it’s already announced the release date for “Transformers 3,” even though deals with the franchise’s director (Michael Bay), stars (Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox), nor any writer have been made.

But waiting for such trifling details is asking a little too much of Hollywood execs when it comes to staking out a coveted spot on the summer movie calendar. That’s why the studio has announced that “Transformers 3” will be coming to a theater near you on July 1, 2011. Read more...

Billy CrudupAs anyone who has seen “Stage Beauty” will remember, Billy Crudup is not above slipping into women’s clothing when his art demands it. So now, with the new trailer for his upcoming flick “Public Enemies” burning up the Internet, we just had to ask: How comprehensive is his portrayal of FBI founder (and supposed cross-dresser) J. Edgar Hoover?

“I won’t be [cross-dressing] – well, not on film,” Crudup said of the flick, which casts him alongside Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.

With a grin he insisted that between takes in his trailer, however, all bets were off: “I like to do my due-diligence and really get into the character.” Read more...

J.J. AbramsJ.J. Abrams' trademark is...well, not to have one. From mysterious islands, to fringe science, to what he's done to "Star Trek," the man always keeps us guessing. So we shouldn't really be surprised when he decides to go a little mainstream and tackle an ordinary story of high stakes robbery in "The World's Biggest Diamond Heist."

Right now, Abrams is only set to produce the film for Paramount, but according to The Hollywood Reporterhe's reportedly interested in taking on the director's chair. He hasn't picked a post "Star Trek" project yet, though he's producing numerous projects through his Bad Robot shingle. A diamond heist seems a nice way to relax after exploring the final frontier, doesn't it? Read more...

Catherine HardwickeWe know Catherine Hardwicke favors stories about teenagers, but her "Twilight" experience must have left a lasting love of the supernatural, because she's set to tackle another spooky series -- and it even has werewolves! According to The Hollywood Reporter, she is in talks to direct "Maximum Ride", a film based on James Patterson's five volume fantasy series. Don Payne ("Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer") is currently penning the screenplay and Patterson is on board as one of the producers.

The series centers around five teens (Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, the Gasman, and Angel) known as the Flock, who are normal in most respects except that they're genetically altered to be 2% bird. (Think wings, not beaks.) They grew up in a sinister lab called The Institute, learn to fly, and escape thanks to a kindly scientist. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Andy Samberg has rapped about his plans for drowsy weekends, placed his private parts in a box and gotten a little too aroused while still fully dressed. Now the "Saturday Night Live" funnyman and star of digital shorts like "Lazy Sunday," "Di-- in a Box" and "Ji-- in My Pants" is bringing his unorthodox, always entertaining talents to MTV as host of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, May 31.

"I'm super excited to host the movie awards," Samberg said in a statement. "I grew up watching the show and a lot of the past hosts are heroes of mine. Plus, my friends [in the Lonely Island troupe] and I were writers for the show prior to working at 'SNL,' so it will be a sweet and satisfying homecoming. I can't wait to act really important."
