Mickey RourkeLess than a week before what could become the crowning achievement of his meteoric comeback--an Oscar win for Best Actor--Mickey Rourke has been temporarily brought back down to earth as his favorite dog takes a trip to the Big Doggie Day Care in the Sky. Loki, Rourke's 18-year-old Chihuahua terrier mix, died early Tuesday morning.

Anyone who knows anything about "The Wrestler" star knows he’s a sucker for the diminutive pooches. Before Loki passed away, Rourke had four Chihuahuas, though he’s had as many as twelve throughout his life. The first was a gift from his ex-wife Carré Otis. When another of Rouke’s Chihuahuas died in 2006, Hollywood casting director and former love interest Bonnie Timmermann wrote a children’s book about the dog called, “Chocolate at the Four Seasons.” Read more...

Robert RodriguezYou can't help but be a little skeptical every time you read about a new Robert Rodriguez movie. The "Planet Terror" director has been attached to everything from a Barbarella remake to a live-action Jetsons movie, all while promising us Rose McGowan as "Red Sonja." (We've got the t-shirt and the poster -- where's the movie?) But according to Variety, he's just signed on to returning to his usual haunt of Dimension Films to direct a sci-fi thriller called "Nerverackers."

Written by Rodriguez, the thriller is set in 2085 and centers on a character named Joe Tezca, a member of an elite unit dispatched to quell a crime wave occuring in what is supposed to be a utopian and perfect society. Read more...

You can have your Indiana Jones, Marion Ravenwood or even Sallah; for my money nobody was cooler than Indy's diminutive sidekick, Short Round. Responsible for two of the most iconic quotes from the whole franchise ("Hold on to your potatoes!" and "No time for love, Dr. Jones!"), the character defied my deeply held belief that children have no place in movies.

But full steam ahead for LEGO as the toymaker unveiled a slate of new "Indiana Jones" products at the 2009 Toy Fair, allowing fans to recreate classic scenes from the films.

Yup, that's Short Round himself, featuring tiny legs and a kick-ass, "I'm gonna f--k you up" expression. He wasn't the only addition worth boasting about, however. Read more...

Ridley ScottWhen I caught up with the legendary Ridley Scott last week, I was there to discuss his “Alien” character Ellen Ripley being named one of our “Top 10 Movie Badasses of All Time ."

While I was there, however, I couldn’t resist running over a few other key projects that could become his next classic. “I am in a constant stage of development,” he told me in a conference room of his Scott Free Productions office. “I am liable to do ‘Gucci.’ I am liable to do a thing called ‘Child 44,’ and I am doing ‘Robin Hood’ next.”

That statement is notable, not only in that those first two projects are moving forward, but that “Nottingham” has now officially been renamed to reflect its lead character. “Oh yes, I think we are just going to call it ‘Robin Hood’,” Scott revealed. “We start in almost 2 months.” Read more...

Well, I have to admit I didn't see this one coming. Long-time fans of the "G.I. Joe" comics are familiar with multiple version of the G.I. Joe's base known as "The Pit." While the locations changed -- from underneath a chaplain's school to a multi-story bunker in the Utah desert -- the fundemental idea and structure of their headquarters remained the same...an underground fortress.

Bearing that in mind, I've been curious to see how director Stephen Sommers planned on tackling the Joe lair. I had naturally assumed it would follow the same format. I assumed wrong.

The classic "Pit" has gone mobile; it's now a giant vehicle ringed with turrets and presumably a huge interior cabin. Read more...

'Friday the 13th'Are you wondering if the new “Friday the 13th” has more or less drugs, sex and killing than the original films? Are you wondering if any of the kills in the new flick can even break into Jason’s Top 10? Yeah, well so was I – the only difference is, I’m the type of guy who sits down and watches all twelve Jason movies in 6 days, just to get to the bottom of such questions.

And while I was watching 183 people get stabbed, shot and sliced up, I couldn’t help but notice certain things about Jason – things that could have saved valuable, fictional lives! So now, in the interest of humanity, I humbly present my observations on How to Survive a Jason Attack: Read more...

Halle BerryWe haven't seen much of Halle Berry on the big screen lately -- but she's set to make a pretty glittery return with her newest role. According to Variety, she has signed to play the lead in "Who is Doris Payne?", the story of a real life jewel thief.

The real Doris Payne is now 75-years-old, and enjoyed a 50-year career stealing diamond jewelry from stores such as Neiman Marcus and Town and Country. Her success was based purely on her good looks, incredible charm, and gorgeous clothes. She would simply ask to see trays upon trays of rings, earrings, or watches and try on so many that clerks would forget how many they had given her. Read more...
