Vanessa HudgensMaybe Vanessa Hudgens didn't hear the same news we did about Leah Clearwater not appearing in "New Moon." The "High School Musical" star still seems to think that she has a chance of playing the part of the disgruntled female werewolf in the "Twilight" sequel.

"It's still a rumor; I'm really interested," she told "Extra." "I think it's a great project, but nothing's happening as of now."

Perhaps "nothing's happening" because earlier this month, Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote both films, told People that we won't be seeing Leah until the third movie, "Eclipse," set for 2010. "I'm not sure about [final] casting, but I had heard Vanessa Hudgens was going up for the part of Leah," Rosenberg said. "But at the moment, the part of Leah doesn't happen until the third movie." Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Academy AwardsSome people watch the Oscars looking for Brad and Angelina, Jack Nicholson in the front row, or the annual musical tributes to the past year in film. Sunday’s ceremony, however, brought a new star to the game: Robert Pattinson.

It was a blast watching the “Twilight” heartthrob navigate the red carpet this year for one main reason: He’s still a normal guy. Yes, an abnormally good-looking normal guy, but Robert is every bit as self-deprecating, easily embarrassed, and endearingly sincere as any of us would be during our first time at an Oscar ceremony – and let’s hope no matter how big he gets, he stays that way. Heath Ledger in 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus'Heath Ledger's posthumous win was undoubtedly the most emotional moment of this year's Oscars ceremony. It wasn't just the pain of seeing his family accept his award, but also the feeling that this was the final farewell to the talented actor, and his now legendary performance in "The Dark Knight."

However, as everyone knows, Ledger's Dark Knight performance wasn't his last. The actor was filming Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" at the time of his death. The film was nearly scrapped until Jude Law, Johnny Depp, and Colin Farrell stepped forward to take over the role, which was hastily rewritten to accommodate multiple performances.

The film is now complete, but it's future is still uncertain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is having trouble finding a U.S. buyer and distributor. Read more...

'Piranha'With films like "Beowulf" and the forthcoming "Avatar" continuing to put 3D in the limelight, it's only natural that we'll be seeing more of them on the horizon. And if there's any genre that's made for the format, it's horror. Case in point: "Piranha 3D", a loosely-adapted remake of the film that launched Joe Dante's career (and whose sequel, "Piranha II: The Spawning" was the directorial debut of James Cameron).

The news broke last year that Alexander Aja -- the French horror director famous for "High Tension," "Mirrors" and the 2006 remake of "The Hills Have Eyes" -- would be helming the remake, but now some production delays have since lead to a somewhat delayed start-date. Read more...

Check out behind-the-scenes photos from this year's Oscars here!

FROM NEWSROOM.MTV.COM: I've got a pretty bizarre job. I know this, because my friends and family constantly tell me this whenever my Facebook updates casually mention encounters with the likes of Charlize Theron and Stephen Baldwin (in my mind, all celebrities are created equal).

(Check out behind-the-scenes photos from this year's Oscars here!)

Still, the crazy and surreal meter went into overdrive for me last night when I stepped onto my first Academy Awards red carpet. First of all, don't be too jealous; my feet barely touched the carpet before I was relegated to the press area that literally was behind a 4-foot shrub. I can't blame the Hollywood elite. If I were Sean Penn, I'd want a barrier between me and Nancy O'Dell at all times too.

FROM MTVNEWS.COM: Oscar champion "Slumdog Millionaire" is hardly a Bollywood movie. In fact, it bears none of the telltale Bollywood film characteristics. It's dark and gritty. There are no love triangles or exaggerated theatrical monologues. The characters do not escape to the majesty of the Swiss Alps for elaborate, innuendo-filled dance numbers. In fact, the film's sole nod to the Indian film industry remains the dance number in Mumbai's Victoria Station during the closing credits. But for those intrigued, here are five Bollywood films and actors that are well worth checking out.

Hey, character actresses: Want an Oscar? Send your head shot to Woody Allen.

Penélope Cruz's win last night for playing the crazy/lovable María Elena in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" marks the fourth time an actress has won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for being in an Allen film. While it's true that the Woodster makes a lot of movies, those are still some pretty amazing statistics.

Odds are even better you'll get an Oscar in a Woody Allen film if your name is Dianne Wiest. She won two Best Supporting Actress statues thanks to Woody — one in 1986 for "Hannah and Her Sisters" and one in 1994 for "Bullets Over Broadway." The other winner was Mira Sorvino, for 1995's "Mighty Aphrodite." Read more...

Sir Anthony Hopkins’ appearance at the Kodak Theatre was completely expected Sunday night. The respected movie badass and former Best Actor winner for “Silence of the Lambs” is, after all, an annual fixture for the Academy Awards. What far fewer Oscar watchers likely anticipated, however, was the British film icon’s confession of love for “American Idol.”

“I’m an ‘American Idol’ addict,” Hopkins told MTV News in an exclusive interview from the red carpet. Asked to name his guilty entertainment pleasures, the “Beowulf” and upcoming “King Lear” star offered up his TV habit shamelessly. Read more...

'Arrested Development'The status of the “Arrested Development” movie has vexed and teased fans of the Emmy-winning Fox show almost since the day it was unjustly canceled. The project’s various rumors -- it’s happening! It’s dead! Wait, it’s totally on again! -- were more confusing than Tobias Fünke’s sexual preferences. Last month at Sundance, Michael Cera told MTV News that there was no script and he didn’t even know if he’d reprise his role as George Michael Bluth. Then co-star Jeffrey Tambor hit back, claiming Cera was in and the movie would film before the end of the year.

It seemed like every time a cast member opened his mouth, the mystery only deepened. So when we had the chance to speak with executive producer Ron Howard on the red carpet at the Oscars, we asked him to kick us some truth. He did, and now MTV News can exclusively confirm that the “Arrested Development” is happening.

“It’s going ahead,” Howard confirmed. Read more...
