We already announced that "Alien"-killer Ellen Ripley made the #2 spot in our Greatest Movie Badasses of All Time feature, and we even interviewed alter-ego Sigourney Weaver about the honor. But that's only one part of the puzzle...the discussion around our selection is just as entertaining as the character herself.
Our NY Comic-Con panel of four celebrities (Method Man, Judah "30 Rock" Friedlander, Chuck "Best Week Ever" Nice and James "Tyson" Toback) threw out one hilarious observation after another. Check out the Ripley segment below, and then click here to watch the entire Greatest Movie Badasses panel.

Just think, we could all be picking apart every juicy morself of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" goodness by now if WB had stuck with their initial holiday release plan. Instead we have to pick apart every juicy morself of newly released posters for the flick, now set for release this July.
"One again, I must ask too much of you, Harry" says Dumbledore on the moody poster. Could this be the darkest of the series since Alfonso Cuaron's third entry in the blockbuster saga? Check out the new poster in all its glory here or click after the jump. Read more...

John Krasinski is not lacking for offers outside of "The Office." Not only did he make his directorial debut this year with "Brief Interviews With Hideous Men," but he keeps racking up the big screen roles in between "Office" episodes. According to Variety, he has just signed onto Nancy Meyers' untitled romantic comedy, which stars Steve Martin, Meryl Streep, and Alec Baldwin.
Yes, Krasinski will be the baby of the cast, and his role is unspecified -- but as the movie centers on a romantic triangle between Martin, Baldwin, and Streep, we know it isn't as a love interest. My guess is that he's playing someone's son, and will spend the film horrified by the romantic goings-on. Hopefully, he'll have a bigger part than he had in Meyers' last film "The Holiday," where he had a brief cameo as Cameron Diaz's assistant. Read more...

Last week, we brought you the news that Amber Heard would be romancing Johnny Depp (and showing a lot of skin in the process) in "The Rum Diaries." Now the rest of the cast has been filled out, which means Depp's Hunter S. Thompson project is finally becoming a reality.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aaron Eckhart and Richard Jenkins have joined the cast of the 1950s drama. Eckhart will play Sanderson, a wealthy landowner who believes everything can be bought. Read more...

Radiohead’s music has often had a futuristic, almost otherworldly quality to it, and now the legendary band’s frontman might be coming to a post-apocalyptic future near you. “Terminator Salvation” director McG announced at New York Comic-Con that he’s been talking to Thom Yorke about contributing to his forthcoming franchise reboot.
At first McG was considering handing over the entire score to Yorke and Gustavo Santaolalla, the Argentine composer whose “Babel” score won an Academy Award in 2006. “We talked about Gustavo getting with Thom Yorke from Radiohead, which I thought would be a very interesting combination,” said the director. Eventually he signed Danny Elfman (“Batman,” “Spider-Man”) to compose the score, but Yorke and Santaolalla have stayed in the mix. “They still may do a couple of sounds for the movie,” McG revealed. Everyone's got their Christian Bale imitation going right now. But you and I are not Method Man, are we? So when Meth himself broke out a little impromptu Bale riff in the middle of our Greatest Movie Badasses panel at Comic-Con, we let out a hearty laugh. As we say in the clip, nothing is more badass than a meltdown on the set, right?
Whose meltdown do you prefer? Christian's or Meth's?

As one would expect, while Chris Pine wound up snagging the role as the captain of the Enterprise, there were a few others in contention for the iconic role. Among them? Pacey Witter himself. At the NY Comic-Con, "Fringe" star Joshua Jackson revealed to MTV News that he auditioned for two different "Star Trek" roles, among them Captain James T. Kirk.
"The only audition my darling girlfriend has ever been upset with me for not getting the role is Captain Kirk," Jackson says, "She was like 'Look honey, don't screw this up. It's Captain Kirk. It's a legendary role. It is a tough act to follow.'" Read more...

When last we saw our best buds Harold & Kumar, life was looking good. They had successfully escaped from Guantanamo Bay, reunited with the women they love, and were happily smoking and joking their way around Amsterdam. It seemed like a much more complete ending than in their first adventure - and you couldn't help but feel as if this generation's Cheech and Chong had made their last movie.
But then, "Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay" made even more money than the first film. Which keeps us wondering: Will we ever see the uptight Asian and underachieving Indian in a third adventure?
"Yeah, I don’t know," admitted Kal Penn when we spoke to him recently, insisting that White Castle is closed for the forseeable future. "We get calls from our friends, John Cho and I, going 'I read on the internet, blah blah blah.'"

FROM NEWSROOM.MTV.COM In a sea of musicians, many nominated on the recording industry's biggest night, I would imagine that it can't be easy to stand out as an actress. Yet, Kate Beckinsale -- a presenter at tonight's Grammys -- was far and away the night's best-dressed lady of the evening.
Beckinsale is impeccably dressed at every red-carpet event she attends, but tonight was something special. Wearing a long black mermaid gown (which might be her favorite look, since she also did the mermaid thing at the Golden Globes), she looked regal among her entertainer friends.
