By now, you've probably heard that "Pride and Prejudice" heroine Elizabeth Bennet will be fighting off a zombie invasion in Seth Grahame-Smith's upcoming novel, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." Hollywood studios are already reportedly already fighting for the rights to the book, but amazingly, "Zombies" will be beaten by another Jane Austen sci-fi adaptation -- "Pride and Predator."
According to Variety, Elton John's Rocket Pictures is bringing the project to the big screen, directed by Will Clark, who cowrote the script with Andrew Kemble and John Pape. The story will apparently follow the original novel -- until an alien crash lands in the village of Meryton and begins to murder the inhabitants. Read more...

If this latest report is to be believed, Sunday night's Oscar ceremony will welcome a new and welcome face for many a young fan. Sure, you'll get your Brad and Angelina fix this weekend (both are nominated of course) but who cares about the world's most famous couple this side of Barack and Michelle when Robert Pattinson is involved.
Yes, HitFix claims they have confirmed the recent rumors that "Twilight" star Pattinson will indeed present an award at the Oscars. The report doesn't indicate what award Pattinson will present nor whether his "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart will be by his side as he bestows a statuette to a lucky winner. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Joaquin Phoenix continues to amaze.
Hot on the heels of his rather, uh, remarkable appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" — which came hot on the heels of his beef with celebrity DJ Dan Sun and his publicist's insistence that the actor's hip-hop career is legit — there's now another layer to add to the growing Phoenix legend.
On Wednesday night, MTV News attended the premiere of "Two Lovers," which, if the hype is to be believed, will be Phoenix's final film. We attempted to speak to the actor/rapper on the red carpet, but he didn't stop to answer any questions. Instead, we managed to grab "Lovers" director James Gray, who gave us this piece of news about the validity of Phoenix's rap career.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Remember the days when "Iron Man 2" news was popping up all over the 'Net and actors were being cast and, in some cases, dropping out of the cast faster than you could say "Pepper Potts?" Yeah, those were good times. But now it feels like those days are behind us, as we haven't heard anything new from the "Iron Man 2" crew in quite a while -- and we're not the only ones.
MTV News caught up with Gwyneth Paltrow at the red carpet premiere of her new film "Two Lovers" and asked the talented "Iron Man" actress if she's felt the same void when it comes to "Iron Man 2" news.

When Hasbro and Universal struck a deal to turn toy and game properties into movies, I don't know that we ever thought it would go this far. "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" made sense, as they had cartoons and comic books to make movies out of. Then came plans to turn board games like "Monopoly" and "Candyland" into movies -- plans that attracted talent like Ridley Scott. Now comes "Stretch Armstrong." According to Variety, Steve Oedekerk ("Bruce Almighty") has been hired to pen a script for a superhero comedy based on the stretchy, half-naked toy.
Surprisingly, this is not the first attempt to get Stretch Armstrong onto the big screen. In 1998, Disney attempted to make a Stretch movie starring Danny DeVito, and later tried to revive the character with Jackie Chan. Try not to contemplate how scary a stretching DeVito or Chan would be. Read more...

If you're like me, you've often wondered why there aren't more cheerleader movies. Girls love to be them and guys want to look at 'em. Magic combination, right? But apart from the whole "Bring It On" franchise (now going on 295 direct-to-video sequels) and a few one-offs here and there, the whole cheer category seems woefully missed by Hollywood. Enter "Fired Up."
The flick -- which hits theaters February 20 -- finds two guys who head to cheerleading camp to pick up girls. Much humor ensues, obviously We've got a first look at the film which you can see below, and then click here to watch two more exclusive scenes from "Fired Up."

There's an odd literary trend going on in Hollywood right now -- adapting nonfiction guides into fictional stories. This month, we got "He's Just Not That Into You" which was originally a self-help book for lovelorn women, sometime in 2010 we'll get Hilary Swank's version of food and culture guide "French Women Don't Get Fat." So, why not Mick Conefrey's "The Adventurer's Handbook"?
According to Variety, that's the next one to go before the camera,
will star Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman. Akiva Schaffer (of SNL's "Lonely Island" crew) is negotiating to direct. Read more...

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard of a little movie called "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" that made a decent chunk of change at the box office. I'm sure you thought "I bet we're going to be due for a lot more Kevin James movies." And you would be right! According to Variety, Kevin James is getting his second title role -- this time in "The Zookeeper" for MGM and Happy Madison.
Directed by Frank Coraci (who has directed several of Adam Sandler's films, including "The Wedding Singer"), the story centers around a lonely zookeeper, who leaves his job caring for wild and woolly animals because he can't meet a girl. (Don't girls visit zoos?) Read more...

Ever since she was a little girl, Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) thought of shopping as a dream world filled with perfect clothes ready to be bought: Pucci, Burberry and the like. Never one to turn down a good investment in gorgeous things, Rebecca finds herself a little financially overextended. And, ironically, with a job as a financial consultant in New York City.
This can't turn out well.
But, having found Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy), a man who speaks Prada (perfect!) and her emergency credit card in the freezer, there's nothing Rebecca can't do to turn her life around. Check out this montage from "Confessions of a Shopaholic" set to music by Lady Gaga, the Pussycat Dolls, Akon and more.
