Though Krysten Ritter hits the big screen in February's "Confessions of a Shopaholic," a lot of fans remember her best from her continuing role on "Veronica Mars" as Gia Goodman, a part she says she'd love to return to if the long-rumored "Mars" film ever hits the big screen.
Appearing throughout most of the second of the season, Gia was a one-time friend to Veronica who broke off the friendship when Veronica began investigating Gia's father, baseball team owner Woody Goodman.
Though Krysten's character sort of disappeared as Veronica left for college in season three, she remained a fan-favorite. A potential "Mars" movie was news to Gia, but she was quick to announce her willingness to participate. Read more...

According to Variety, Hilary Duff has just signed on to one heck of a girl fantasy -- playing famous 1930s outlaw Bonnie Parker in "The Story of Bonnie and Clyde" to Kevin Zegers' Clyde Barrow. Natalie Canerday and Rance Howard have also signed on.
Tonya S. Holly will direct the film from her own script, and it's being stressed that this film is not a remake of the 1967 classic, which starred Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. It's a new take on the historical facts, which are still controversial enough to earn a fresh look. Read more...

It's rare to see a film with one strong female role, let alone two, so this sounds kind of promising. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Minnie Driver is joining Hilary Swank for Tony Goldwyn's legal drama "Betty Anne Waters."
The movie is based on the true story of Ms. Waters, an unemployed single mother who saw her brother convicted and sentenced to life in prison for murder-robbery. Determined to prove his innocence, she spent the next decade earning a law degree and working her brothers case, challenging his conviction with DNA evidence. Read more...

Access Hollywood scored the strangest news of the day with the announcement that Mickey Rourke, fresh from his Oscar nomination in Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler", is set to get in the ring for real at the WWE's "Wrestlemania 25" on April 5th.
Wait, what? As crazy as it sounds, it looks like Rourke's pretty confident about the idea, claiming that he's been speaking with wrestler-turned-actor Rowdy Roddy Piper about participating. He even called out wrestler Chris Jericho, saying, "You better get in shape, because I'm coming after your a--." Read more...

James Bond actor Daniel Craig has officially signed on as the pirate Red Rackham in the newly titled "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn," joining the previously-announced Jamie Bell as the boy reporter Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thomson and Thompson. But wait, there's more: In addition to Steven Moffat (of "Doctor Who" fame), Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish have come aboard as writers.
Rope of Silicon has the news that should please current "Tintin" fans and, hopefully, excite even those cynical about the project. Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: It's been several months since we last heard about Steven Spielberg's plans to adapt the popular manga "Oldboy" into a live-action film starring Will Smith, but fans of both the manga and the original live-action adaptation released in 2003 have been buzzing about whether the edgy story will be softened for American audiences.
With the film and the original manga well-known for their disturbing themes -- a crucial plot point involves incest -- and graphic violence, is the typically family-friendly Spielberg up to the task of staying true to the dark, violent nature of the story?
"It's the thing that Steven was attracted to," Smith told MTV News. "We're working from the comic and we haven't done anything other than talk about it. So we'll see what happens, but he's not going to do anything that would be less than stunning."

As an employee here at MTV News, I've been lucky enough to be in the presence of celebrities, but I still haven't had that crazy star-struck moment when my palms get all sweaty and I can’t speak a word of English. I came pretty close when I met my journalist crush Anderson Cooper, but I managed to get a few words out and refrained from giving him an impromptu hug - which would probably make the meeting a bit awkward.
My AC meltdown is nothing compared to how much of a hyperventilating mess I’d be if I ever met one of my all time celebrity crushes: Robert Pattinson. (I’d like to give a shout out to my #2 crush: New England Patriots QB Tom Brady)
I haven’t met my celebrity crush yet, so I thought to myself, “What’s the next best thing?” Read more...

Christopher Guest, the writer/director of cult favorite mockumentaries, “This is Spinal Tap” and “Best in Show,” may be taking one of his most beloved big screen creations to the stage—even as he quits making movies all together.
Jane Lynch, who has appeared in Guest’s last three films, told MTV News: “I know Chris might take ‘Waiting for Guffman’ to Broadway.”
If true -- and we certainly hope like crazy it is -- this seems to be the first inside word that an adaptation is in the works. “Guffman” follows a community theater group as they prepare to put on a hilariously bad musical and wait for a mythical Broadway producer to show up on opening night. FROM SPLASH PAGE: "Dragonball Evolution" is scheduled to hit theaters later this year, so when MTV News caught up with Emmy Rossum during the Sundance Film Festival (her new film, "Dare," debuted during the event), we had to ask her a few questions about her role in the live-action adaptation of the anime/manga classic.
For more of Emmy Rossum's thoughts on her "Dragonball Evolution" character, head over to SplashPage.MTV.com.

James Brown is the lone Godfather of Soul, and even if he looks a lot like Wesley Snipes in Spike Lee's upcoming biopic, Lee wants to make sure there's one recognizable voice coming through the microphone when the legendary figure appears on-screen.
"We're doing it together – it's going to happen," Lee told MTV News in an exclusive interview at the Sundance Film Festival this week. The Oscar nominated director of "Do the Right Thing" and "Inside Man" lavished praise on Snipes. "He’s my man," Lee said; but when it comes to the vocals on Brown's classic tracks like "I Got You (I Feel Good)" and "Get Up Offa That Thing," expect to hear the authentic voice of James Brown being dubbed in.
