'Kick-Ass'FROM SPLASH PAGE: When we recently listed our most anticipated comic-based movies of 2009, there was little doubt that we had to save a spot for the next flick from the mind of “Wanted” creator Mark Millar: the everyday hero story "Kick-Ass." And after getting a recent look at the "Kick-Ass" cast -- which includes the unusual teaming of Nicolas Cage and “Superbad” super-geek Christopher Mintz-Plasse, we have a feeling that when this flick comes out later this year, we’ll be McLovin’ it.

So naturally, when we recently caught up with Mintz-Plasse, we had to ask him whether “Kick Ass” will, well … do exactly that.

For more of Christopher Mintz-Plasse's thoughts on "Kick-Ass," head over to SplashPage.MTV.com.

'Tomb Raider' (Videogame)Lara Croft is set to follow in Indiana Jones' footsteps, and make a return to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. (who gained the rights to the character this December) and producer Dan Lin are working to reboot "Tomb Raider," and give the pistol packing heroine a new franchise.

The new project will ignore the previous two Paramount films and start fresh, as the latest games have and revamp her origin, give her new adventures, villains, and love interests.

Of course, this means there will be a new actress as well. Warner Bros isn't planning on bringing Angelina Jolie back -- and it is unlikely the Oscar nominated actress would return if they did make an offer. The studio plans to attach a writer and director first, and then find a new Croft. Read more...

'The A-Team'Every time it seems like the Hollywood trend of remaking television shows into films is going to die out, we end up with a dozen more. According to Variety, the latest is 1980's series "The A-Team," which is getting a big screen remake from Fox Studios with an eye to turning it into an action film franchise. Joe Carnahan ("Smoking Aces") is attached to direct, with Ridley and Tony Scott producing.

In the original show, four Vietnam vets are convicted of armed robbery and escape from military prison to become mercenaries with hearts of gold. Carnahan and the Scott brothers plan to use the original premise, but swap Vietnam for the Middle East. Read more...

Brendan FraserBrendan Fraser's career has gone in a decidedly different route than we all expected it to. Once a man who struck a balance between Oscar nominated films like "Gods and Monsters" and popcorn fare like "The Mummy," Fraser now seems to enjoy just the popcorn half of the equation. Variety reports that Fraser is set to star in "Furry Vengeance" for Summit Entertainment, a family comedy directed by Roger Kumble ("College Road Trip").

Fraser will play a real estate developer whose new suburban development spills into some pristine Oregon wilderness, pitting him against a band of angry critters. The film will be live action, but expect the wildlife to be some mix of CG and real. The film will begin production in early summer. Read more...

'The Green Hornet'Contributed by Silas Lesnick

FROM SPLASH PAGE: It sounds like it may be the beginning of a death-knell for "The Green Hornet." Over at Hitfix, Drew McWeeny has word that Sony may be backing out the project completely.

Rumors of a "Green Hornet" movie have been around for years and years, ever since Kevin Smith was attached to the project as a writer and director. When Smith left the film, it seemed dead in the water, but then the rather unexpected casting news broke that placed Seth Rogen in the lead as the masked hero.
