Writer/director Noah Buschel made a name for himself with "Neal Cassidy" and "Bringing Rain," and now he's back again for "The Missing Person." The film -- which will have its world premiere at the forthcoming Sundance Film Festival -- stars Amy Ryan, and Michael Shannon (fresh off his much talked-about "Revolutionary Road" performance) as a private detective hired to follow a mysterious stranger (Frank Wood).
The twist? The guy's listed as having been killed in the 9/11 attacks. With a reward offered for returning the man to his wife, Shannon's character must decide whether to bring him in or turn him loose. Check out the first trailer and the film's poster debut after the jump. Read more...

“Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle may not like superhero movies, but that hasn’t stopped his production company DNA Films from picking up the rights to a new “Judge Dredd” installment. Asked about his personal involvement, the Academy Award buzz-maker played it coy.
“Someone asked me about Judge Dredd the other day!” Boyle told Empire. “I hated the last version of it; I can't imagine the next one will be any better.”
Those strong words don’t bode well for rumors that Boyle could be in line to direct DNA’s new film, which has already seen "Judge Dredd" concept art from comics artist Jock hitting the 'Net. Read more...

Cast your expectations aside for the score to May’s “Terminator Salvation.” Danny Elfman has confirmed exclusively for MTV News that he will be composing the music for McG’s new post-nuclear-holocaust Terminator installment of the blockbuster franchise.
“I just started yesterday,” Elfman told MTV News from the red carpet of the Critics’ Choice Awards. The Academy Award nominated composer from films like “Good Will Hunting,” “The Corpse Bride” and “Batman” indicated that the original “Terminator” theme by composer Brad Fiedel was not in use yet; nor is there mandate to incorporate the classic symphonic hook. He did, however, leave the door open for its appearance. Read more...

Why so blue, Hollywood?
Yesterday we brought you photos from the People's Choice Awards red carpet, and in my report I mentioned this amazing blue color that both Jordin Sparks and Dakota Fanning wore to the show. Last night was the Critics' Choice Awards, and blue was the new black on the red rug.
Amy Adams, who may have forgotten to do her hair for this event, let the color of her dress do the talking: it was a very plain, form-fitting dress with a surprise bit of sparkle at her hip. Simple, yet gorgeous. (Check out Amy and more blue-wearing fashion insiders after the jump.) Read more...

Though Steven Soderbergh has featured unknown, untrained actors in his movies in the past, he has raised a number of eyebrows recently by casting porn star Sasha Grey in the lead of his forthcoming feature 'The Girlfriend Experience.' To be sure, Grey is certainly outside of the mainstream of Hollywood actors, but she certainly is famous and has had quite a bit of experience on camera. Does Soderbergh consider her to be a true amateur?
"No, of course not, but the key is dealing with people who haven't learned anything about acting," he recently told MTV News. "She's not trained and that's what I'm looking for. She's going to surprise people. She's great in the movie."
So that's good to know! But what is "The Girlfriend Experience," anyway? Read more...

Would you cheat on your wife if Amanda Seyfried tempted to you? That's the dangerous game Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, and Seyfried will be playing in "Chloe," a film the trio has just joined according to Variety.
A remake of the French film "Nathalie," Moore will play a wife who is suspicious her husband (played by Neeson) is having an affair. She decides to test his faithfulness with the spectacularly bad idea of hiring an escort to tempt him. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Clint Eastwood's "Gran Torino" has all the makings of a mess. It's not an especially interesting movie to look at (it's set in a nondescript Detroit suburb), its message is deeply familiar (learn to love thy neighbor), and its central performance, by Eastwood himself, is so broad that it verges on vaudeville.
And yet the picture gets funnier as it goes along — it's sometimes startlingly hilarious; and the ending is original and unexpected, and very un-Clint-like.
Eastwood plays an irascible old coot named Walt Kowalski, a retired auto worker whose only loves in life, now that his wife has died, are his equally ancient dog and his mint-condition 1972 Ford Gran Torino, which he brings out of the garage during the day and parks in the front driveway, where he can admire its gleaming perfection from his porch, while sipping a beer.

Way back in October, we brought you news of Peter Weir's newest film "The Way Back," based on the true story of a group of soldiers who made a daring escape from a Soviet gulag. Now Variety reports that he has nearly landed his cast, a mix of acting veterans and soon-to-be-huge newcomers, as Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess and Saoirse Ronan are in talks to join the film.
Farrell will play a tough, tattooed Russian, Harris an American, and Sturgess will play a young Polish inmate. Ronan will play a young Russian on the run who meets up with the fugitives. Read more...

We're already cringing at the implications of this one, but now you can get your hands all over a fully poseable version of Edward Cullen.
Or, more specifically, two fully poseable Cullens — one in standard action-figure form and the other of the deluxe, hand-painted figurine variety. Thanks to the good folks at Hot Topic and Tonner Character Figurines, "Twilight" fans can now preorder their very own version of the brooding "Twilight" star.
The Hot Topic figure stands 11.5 inches tall, has "beautiful articulation" (of course) and retails for $16.99 (he also kind of looks like Luke Perry). He's decked out in a blue button-up, jeans and a peacoat, and packaged with an exclusive Cullen family crest. The 17-inch limited-edition Tonner doll costs a bit more (like, $139.99), but that's 'cause he's hand-sculpted from the likeness of "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson and comes with "rooted saran hair" (what does that even mean?). He sports 14 points of articulation, and comes dressed in a T-shirt, jeans and shoes "with working laces." Tonner also has a Bella doll that's a whole 2 inches shorter and has the same sorts of details (hope she won't trip on the laces!).
