Abigail Breslin isn't one to rest on her Oscar nomination, and has just racked up a schedule busier than most actors twice her age. According to Variety, Breslin has signed to voice two animated films films and -- lest she get bored -- is in negotiations to rescue humanity from zombies.
The young actress is in final negotiations to join "Zombieland" alongside Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Jesse Eisenberg. Naturally, the film takes place in the inevitable zombie apocalypse, which sees Harrelson and Eisenberg teaming up to fight the undead. Their paths cross with a pair of con artist sisters, played by Stone and Breslin.
Breslin will also co-star opposite Johnny Depp in Gore Verbinski's "Rango," a CG-animated film which casts Depp as the voice of a household pet who goes on an adventure to discover his true self. Presumably, Breslin plays Rango's owner, but that's just a guess -- either way, what a lucky girl to have starred opposite Gerard Butler, Ryan Reynolds, and Johnny Depp!
Breslin's third deal is also for an animated film, "The Wild Bunch," which will see her join a voice cast that already includes Willem Dafoe, Willie Nelson, Elizabeth Hurley, and Chris Klein. Directed by Doug Wood, it centers around a group of lovely wildflowers who are attacked by an evil army of genetically modified cornstalks. (I think that's officially the strangest plot of 2009.)
Oh to be that young and energetic again -- I'm tired just typing all that. I need to find out what Breslin's secret is. You really do have to admire a girl who can switch from "Kit Kittredge" to hanging with Johnny Depp and conning Woody Harrelson, though!
