Rob Zombie’s follow-up to his 2007 “Halloween” remake will put a new face on the franchise when it hits in 2009. Now, the official MySpace page for the film has a headshot of exactly what that face will be.
“Wayne Toth is back on the case making the greatest Michael ever,” says the MySpace blog update. The special effects and makeup guru brought Myers back to the big screen in 2007. Now, he’s sculpting out another killer set of cracks for “H2.”
The sequel, officially announced in December, will continue Zombie’s reboot that electrified the Myers mythos with his unique rocker/director brand of fiery violence. “X-Men” actor Tyler Mane is slated to return to the screen and don the new mask, possibly alongside stars Malcolm McDowell and Scout Taylor Compton, who are as yet unconfirmed to return.
Toth’s new sculpt brings back Zombie’s inferno-addled flavor of gruesomeness with the classic simplicity of The Shape still intact. Legend states that John Carpenter’s original Michael Myers mask was a modded William Shatner mask. Believed to be from the film “The Devil’s Rain,” it was supposedly recycled, flipped inside out and painted white due to the first “Halloween” film’s small budget.
How do you think the new mask stacks up against previous incarnations? After Rob Zombie’s 2007 “Halloween” film, are you psyched or scared about “H2”? Share your thoughts below.
