Watch out, drug runners -- Clive Owen is coming to get you. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Owen is heading south to Colombia for "Cartagena." The "Children of Men" star will be playing an undercover agent who is investigating drug cartels. That's not the safest place to be on any day, but Owen's agent finds himself caught in the middle of a complex trafficking plot, and must elude drug dealers and international agents if he hopes to survive.
South American thrillers seem to be the new trend in Hollywood -- Warner Bros and Sony both have projects based on this summer's hostage crisis, where 15 hostages were taken by rebel group FARC, which is said to have ties to Colombian drug cartels. Sylvester Stallone and his team of "The Expendables" are also trekking south to overthrow a South American dictator. It's like the days of "Commando" all over again.
When it comes to modern action stars, "Cartagena" couldn't ask for a better macho man. Owen's recent films haven't ignited the box office, but the man who might have been Bond is certainly no push over. Any thriller with his name on it should make for an entertaining two hours, don't you think?
MTV readers, are you up for another thriller starring Owen? Or is the British hunk not your cup of tea when it comes to action flicks?
