This movie might sound like every dysfunctional family comedy you have ever seen, but one name should make you sit up and say "Ok, that will probably be funny." That name is Jonah Hill. According to Variety, he is in talks with Marisa Tomei and John C. Reilly to star in an untitled comedy directed by Mark and Jay Duplass for Fox.
Reilly will play a recently divorced man who meets the woman of his dreams, played by Tomei. But he has to try and contend with her teenage son (Hill), who has no intention of sharing his mother's affections with another man.
While this sounds like a rehash of the Chevy Chase/Jonathan Taylor Thomas comedy "Man of the House" (a movie I can't believe I remember), it's bound to be a lot funnier than that. The combination of Reilly and Hill alone means it will be as far away from Disney as you can get. We're talking about Dewey Cox and "Superbad" here -- and that pairing actually makes me feel a little worried for Tomei. Maybe she will decide to kick both guys out of her life for making her miserable.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in January, and will be the studio directing debut for the Duplass brothers, who normally stick to indie fare like "Baghead."
MTV readers, can the cast win you over on this divorcee dating comedy? Or is it just too familiar for your liking?
