We know how you "Twilight" fans love your sexy vampires -- it's hard to resist a guy as perfect as Edward Cullen. But is there room in your heart for another vampire series? Producers Michael Birnbaum and Jeremiah Chechik are hoping there is. According to Variety, they've just optioned the screen rights to "House of Night," a series of young adult books by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast.
"House of Night" takes vampires in an unusual direction, one that borrows more from Hogwarts than Forks, Washington. In this series, "vampyres" are individuals who possess a genetic anomaly that manifests itself in the teen years. Once it develops, the vampyres are marked, and sent to the House of Night to receive the training and guidance neccessary to becoming an adult vampyre. Luckily, once you become an adult vampyre, you're fully accepted into regular society, and not forced to hide like the Cullen family.
The series focuses on Zoey Redbird, whose ordinary life is turned upside down when she develops into a vampyre, and must change schools, and discover a whole new way of life. "House of Night" is currently on its fourth book, the series will eventually span nine.
Have any of you "Twilight" fans read this series? And if you haven't, are you intrigued enough to give another set of vampires a shot?
