'Tropic Thunder'We know all about Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller, about Jack Black and Tom Cruise, but you wanna know who REALLY made “Tropic Thunder” great? Eddie Murphy, Sumner Redstone, and Russell Crowe.

Or that’s what I think, anyway, even though, for his part, screenwriter Justin Theroux isn’t letting loose on who actually gets lampooned in the Hollywood satire, which pits a very method actor against an egomaniacal studio head against a comedian known for fart humor, for starters. Read more...

Peter Facinelli and Edi Gathegi in 'Twilight'FROM MTV.COM It's been one heck of a year for movies, and not just for us fans but for those men and women who churn out those spellbinding flicks. So as we cue up the turkey and yams, we've reached out to our picks for "Actors We're Most Thankful For" and chatted them up about those big 2008 memories (and what they have coming up, of course).

So with that in mind, click here for our "Most Thankful For" round-up, which includes new interviews with Robert Downey Jr., Harrison Ford, Sarah Jessica Parker, Josh Brolin, Russell Brand and "Cloverfield" helmer Matt Reeves.

The MTV Movies Blog crew will be back Monday, December 1, so until then, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Peter Facinelli and Edi Gathegi in 'Twilight'It’s always nice when good things happen to good people – so, after spending much of the past year following the cast of “Twilight,” we can’t help but be happy for hard-working Hollywood talents like Catherine Hardwicke, Peter Facinelli and the others who recently enjoyed the greatest success of their careers with the record-setting opening of “Twilight.”

Another such star is 29-year-old Edi Gathegi, a veteran supporting player on TV (“House”) and in movies (“Gone Baby Gone”), who is just now coming into his own as the nomadic “Twilight” vampire Laurent. Naturally, after the box-office results came pouring in, MTV was eager to catch up with the affable actor to get his reaction.

“I feel amazing,” Gathegi gushed. “It’s wonderful to be part of a hugely successful opening.” Read more...

Normally I'm not one to ask actors about their sexuality but come on, we've all heard the Hugh Jackman rumors, right? And when he talked to People magazine about said rumors, well it seemed like fair game.

So credit Mr. Jackman as he stood his ground at the uncomfortable question and addressed the rumors with a charm that befits the Sexiest Man Alive. Watch below as the "Australia" star explains just how straight he is. And check out our full Hugh Jackman (and Nicole Kidman) interview here.

She’s one of reality television's biggest stars, and a budding movie performer in her own right. But what does “The Hills” star Audrina Patridge really want?

“I want to meet an Edward!” the 23-year-old excitedly revealed to MTV News on the set of her new movie “Sorority Row,” where she shocked us by professing her love for “Twilight.”

“I’m obsessed. I love it. And I think the fourth book was the best,” she said, taking a stand against all the haters who decried "Breaking Dawn.” “I’m still on the bandwagon. I love that book.” Read more...

'Milk'By John Norris

Add one letter to "MLK," and what do you get? That's right — "Milk."

And rightly so. Harvey Milk is the middle-age mensch from New York who moved to San Francisco, opened a camera shop and set about changing the world. The first openly gay elected official in America became a martyr in 1978, when he, along with San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, was gunned down by a deeply disturbed colleague. Milk has earned his place alongside those other M's: Martin, Malcolm and Mandela. And if you have a problem with that — if you think that gay rights are something apart from other civil-rights struggles — I suggest you see the movie "Milk." I'll front you the 10 bucks.

This long-overdue dramatization of the life of a hero who so richly deserves it is opening now, against the backdrop of the passage of California's rights-stripping Proposition 8 — and on the 30th anniversary of Milk's death — is the sort of surreal convergence of events that only a screenwriter could dream up. (Milk's story was also told in 1984's excellent documentary, "The Times of Harvey Milk.") Read more...

Samuel L. Jackson“What Doesn’t Kill You,” Brian Goodman’s first film as writer and director, is getting some pretty stellar early reviews, like “amazing reviews” Samuel L. Jackson enthused. "It's awesome."

So awesome, apparently, that Jackson is ready to take the plunge with Goodman on the rising director’s follow-up, “The Fallen,” a story which centers around a group of Boston firemen. Now all the talented duo (who admit to golfing together a few times a week) need is a greenlight.

“Yeah, we’ll see what happens with that,” Goodman said of the finished script, which he is currently deciding what to do with. “We are looking at that and we both would like to work together and we’ll see what happens.” Read more...

Elijah WoodHe's been a penguin with happy feet, and now Elijah Wood's next animated adventure is going to make him a ragdoll.

"I'm actually just finishing work on an animated film called '9,'" Wood told us when we caught up with him at Alicia Keys' Black Ball. "It's based on a short film Shane Acker did a number of years ago. It's a beautiful short."

Tim Burton is producing the full-length feature from Acker, one of the WETA Digital animators on "Return of the King," and Crispin Glover, Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly, Martin Landau, and Christopher Plummer are among the other voice actors. Wood plays 9, one of nine mechanized rag dolls, "who kind of have the soul of humanity in them," he said. "It's basically about a post-apocalyptic world where machines created by man have destroyed mankind, and these nine ragdolls go about trying to find out what has happened and what these machines are about." Robert Downey Jr.FROM SPLASH PAGE: The Internet damn-near gave Robert Downey Jr. a standing ovation when news broke last month about the actor not only signing on for "Iron Man 2," but also officially joining the cast of the absurdly-anticipated "Avengers" movie. Naturally, we had to get Downey's take on the upcoming film that's destined to be the Holy Grail for Geekdom, and you can rest assured knowing that the actor is well-aware of how important the film will be to not only Marvel, but the comics community as a whole.

"If we don’t get it right it's really, really going to suck," said Downey. "It has to be the crowning blow of Marvel’s best and brightest because it’s the hardest thing to get right. It’s tough to spin all the plates for one of these characters."

Josh BrolinIt's hard to imagine how 2009 could be a bigger year for Josh Brolin than his awesome '08. Between "W." and "Milk" he's banged out two performances that could very conceivably earn his Oscar's attention. So how do you follow it up? Well you probably strap on some guns for "Jonah Hex" as Brolin told us the other day. And you very nearly star in the latest "Terminator" movie apparently.

Way back in February "Terminator Salvation" director McG made an interesting aside in an interview about the casting of his new flick that got a lot of us talking here and around the web. When asked who would make his ideal Terminator in the new film, McG said "Josh Brolin is a very exciting actor - we'll see." Brolin of course wasn't cast but now it's clear from my recent conversation with Josh that it did indeed almost come to be.

"Yeah. I talked to Christian [Bale] for a couple hours," he said. "I really liked the script though I hear that’s not what they filmed. The one I read was very interesting and dark. Ultimately though I didn’t think it felt right." Read more...
