He’s a razor sharp comic known for his biting wit – and profanity laced tirades – so it makes perfect sense that Eddie Murphy’s monster comeback won’t be “Beverly Hills Cop 4” or “Inglorious Bastards,” or any of a dozen other projects he has been alternately promising and rumored for. It’ll be with…a silent movie?
Last month, Murphy told MTV News that for his next movie, “1000 Words,” he spends half the movie totally silent due to the fact that his character learns he only has 1000 words left before he dies.)
We don’t know the half of it, co-star Kerry Washington explained.
“Page 20,” Washington said of when in the script the film transitions into a more silent comedy. “By then it becomes a Charlie Chaplin film for Eddie Murphy. It’s hilarious.”
But Washington, who said she just finished filming the movie, insists that the laughs just keep on coming, the story’s more dramatic then you might expect.
“It’s this really, really lovely poignant beautiful film,” she said. “It’s just this fantastic story about a guy who learns to truly understand the importance of his words, and to say what he means. He doesn’t speak his truth [at the beginning] so it’s really about this guy having to learn how important his word is.”
Does “1000 Words” sound like the perfect comeback vehicle for Murphy? Go ahead, try to predict what is last words are (even money on “I love you.”) Sound off on all your thoughts below.
