For my money, one of the funniest bonus features in DVD history is “Finding Ben Stone,” the fake documentary included with “Knocked-Up,” where director Judd Apatow auditions several other big name actors for the part that eventually went to Seth Rogen..
Get ready for a similar assist from Rogen’s famous friends on the DVD for “Pineapple Express,” the actor revealed. That is, if the cops don’t get the footage first.
“We filmed a lot of different actors we know just going and buying weed from Saul [played hilariously in the movie by James Franco],” Rogen said. “Justin Long, Martin Starr, Judd Apatow, that one was actually pretty funny. Bill Hader.”
Right up there among the best scenes, actually, is the very first, where (slight spoiler warning) we witness a military experiment on the dangerous effects of marijuana. Of course, for the army to do experiments, it needs volunteers. Enter Rogen’s famous friends once again.
“Yeah, the movie has that weed military testing and we got a lot of actors we know to come in and be like weed test subjects in the 50s,” he revealed.
Think the DVD extras sound funny? Are you going to pick it up? Sound off below.
