EXCLUSIVE: David Goyer Says He Knows The Theme For ‘Batman 3’

Christian Bale as Batman in 'Batman Begins'Whether you agree or not, judging from both fan reaction and near universal critical acclaim, “The Dark Knight” will almost certainly go down as the greatest comic book movie of all-time, with a performance from Heath Ledger that is being hailed as one of the greatest on-screen villains ever.

Now all Christopher Nolan, his brother Jonathan, David Goyer, and an as yet unnamed villain have to do is top it.

“I think that’s the scariest thing – to think, could we come up with a third movie that was as good as the first two? Can we top ourselves?” screenwriter David Goyer asked aloud, almost rhetorically, in a recent conversation with MTV News. “Doing it a third time would be a big proposition.”

Make no mistake about it, though, a third film HAS been discussed, Goyer confessed, revealing that, while nothing is concrete, both a villain and a theme have been bandied about.

“We’ve only talked loosely about it, though, Chris and I,” Goyer said.

Interestingly, it’s the theme, and not the villain, that most interests me, especially given how the latter seems inexorably tied to the former in this new modern Batman universe. (Fear the predominant issue in “Begins” precipitating the introduction of Scarecrow, escalation in “Knight” similarly calling for The Joker.

The fact that Goyer has a theme he wants to keep in mind for a possible “Batman 3” means he also has a direction, a crisis, and, yes, a villain.

So what is it?

“I have one,” Goyer said laughing. “But I’m not going to tell you. Chris is very particular about that.

“I do think, though, that if there’s not a third film – these two movies stand on their own,” he added. “I think it could go either way.”

Not us. We want a “Batman 3.” So we’ll throw it out to you: Now that you’ve seen “The Dark Knight,” now that you know how it ends, what could be the theme of “Batman 3”? Who could be the villain to fit that theme? Sound off below.

  1. I say Catwoman.

Catwoman has always been very ambiguous as a villain, and someone who can be part ally and part enemy would be great for the "Batman against the world" theme of the next movie.

Plus, I think there was a little nudge toward Catwoman being the next villain in The Dark Knight.

Anyone else catch Lucius's comment about Batman's suit? "It should stand up to cats?" I'm thinking that was some foreshadowing...
  2. I have a great idea..
there are many villains but the best idea for the villain is Ra's Al Ghul.

Batman's only love interest in the Nolan films died so Talia would be Batman's love interest in the third movie. Plus that calls for a sex scene tastefully done right for all those romance seekers.

It can possibly have a twist to it where the ninjas from the first movie could be brought back into the third movie. Just a thought.

Thats how I visualize the 2nd movie being topped BUT i dont think the audience would appreciate it if much of the setting was away from Gotham City and Ra's al ghul comics had Robin featured a lot so could that possibly mean they would bring Robin into the scene?
  3. Anarchy might not be bad. I haven't seen anybody mention the Ventriloquist yet. They could have come in and rebuild the mob. How about something along the lines of the holiday killer (too long of 1 movie??) or maybe Dark Victory. I agree with most people that is needs to be much more ‘real’ then like killer croc or clayface (at least the classical version of them). Oh and absolutely NO robin. He just doesn’t translate well to the big screen. I heard a rumor that Bale said he wouldn’t do another Batman in they included Robin. Don’t know if it’s true or not.
  4. Should the obvious be stated? The Dark Knight movie you just saw was the prequel for the true Dark Knight story told in the graphic novel. Frank Miller's Batman will disappear and let Gotham slowly sink to the nadir of its existence. Ten years pass and one night Bruce is mugged on the streets he once protected and thus the Dark Knight is born. He dusts off the suit and come back with a vengence to clean up the mess.
If that's not the story to be told, why choose the most beloved name in Batman's long history? Of course you'll have to introduce Superman and Robin into the mix, but that would help lead up to the JLA movie. Sadly, the real Dark Knight story probably won't be told. It would be rated R and wouldn't make the cash. Read the first two parts of the graphic novel, it's better than the movie.
  5. In the end of Dark Knight the police are now hunting batman, so he cant help as much as he used to. So a kid comes to try to help and his name is ?%*? Grayson(Robin).
  6. Here's my take on actors:

Angelina Jolie is way too predictable as Catwoman. She's camp it up too much and probably just phone it in anyway. Someone mentioned Charlize Theron; if you've ever seen her in "Monster," you know she has the talent. I honestly imagine Maggie Gyllenhall would make a great Catwoman, however. She's got the natural vulnerability that can disappear behind a mask and become strength. (I know; this idea causes too many problems.)

I love the idea of Paul Giamatti as Penguin. Did anyone see him in "American Splendor" or "John Adams"?

David Tennant would make a great Riddler.

And Arnold Schwarzennegger should reprise his wonderful turn as Mr. Freeze. (Hell, yes, that's a joke!)
  7. Lots of good ideas in the comments here.

I definitely agree that Redemption is the theme of the next movie, and possibly the subtitle also.

I wouldn't want them to bring the Joker back...awesome character, but the guy who pulled it off is dead and I would hate for someone else to ruin it.

If they did bring in the Penguin, I agree that Philip Seymour Hoffman is the only one for the job. Nolan has said he doesn't want to use that character, but Hoffman could pull it off in Nolan's style.

I would rather see Jolie as Ivy rather than Catwoman; I could see either or both characters making an appearance in the next movie, but I'm not sure that Jolie would fit. Nolan likes to use actors that are VERY good but not overly popular (maybe underrated is a better term; Bale, Eckhart, Gyllenhaal), so they contribute directly to the story and don't take away from it with their star power. Honestly, I think with a better script and better direction, Uma could do either character. She's a great actress, she just got involved with that farce/tragedy of a batman movie before. Would love to see Reese Witherspoon in a catsuit too, for that matter.

Ra's was a great character and Begins wouldn't have been what it was without him and Neeson; it would be better just to bring in his daughter if they are going that route though.

If they bring in Bane, for god's sake please don't let it be some guy in a suit...get Ferrigno or somebody that is actually strong...I'm sure they will though, Nolan knows what he's doing.

The only thing new I can really contribute other than agreeing with everyone else is NO ROBIN. I hate Robin, he serves no real purpose, he doesn't fit in with the "dark knight" motif at all. The only Batman he fit in was the original TV series, and that's because it used an underlying homosexuality theme.

Oh, and Anthony Michael Hall or Mr. Reese as the Riddler would work also.
  8. Seems the running theme is the hunt for Batman. How about an over zealus Mayor or new Public Prosecutor enlists the help of a mercenary/hunter (like Spider-Man's Kraven) to track and bring Batman to justice. In his hunt, the hunter becomes either supernaturally or technilogically unstopable and wrecks Gotham in his hunt. Unable to control the now Mad-Man the Mayor goes to Gordan for a solution, but he won't like the answer. Gordan(and Perhaps all of Gotham) calls on Batman to save the day. In addition, bring Catwoman in as a simple cat-burgalor with "skills" as a love interest and another villian, ally, or both. (P.S. Skip the back-story on the villians as they did with the Joker in Dark Knight.) After Batman saves the day, the new Mayor (becuase the old one gets booted out) pardons Batman for past crimes. This would be a good time to introduce ~?#~ Grayson (as a young boy), but save Robin for the fourth movie. And bring in Batgirl in the fifth movie running a sub-plot with Gordan's daughter in the 3rd and 4th movies. Lastly -- NEED a new Bat-Mobile.
  9. I think that this cast has done such an amazing job portraying the later versions of the Batman comic series. I have read many different things and it would be a travesty to change for certain Christian Bale, but to also not include Chris Nolan somewhere in the writing and/or directing.
Haveing said that, Batman had many villians, having put a few away, like scare crow and two face, and with no justice in continuing the joker (my opinion). The best choice for the next villian would be that can be written into the scene as a hero, watching Batman struggle to regain the level of hero for which Gordan (Oldman) illuded to in the end of the Dark Knight. Batman is not the hero they need right now but the hero for which Gotham deserves.
  10. how about two-face is still alive and the scarcrow escapes from the asylum and then they could add riddler or the penguin or both. and leave the joker no one can top heaths performance.
  11. how about two-face is still alive and the scarcrow escapes from the asylum and then they could add riddler or the penguin or both. and leave the joker no one can top heaths performance.
  12. The next villain, or at least one of them, needs to be Catwoman. Both Bruce Wayne and Batman are lacking a love interest now, and they need something that holds a lot of light up to the classic story of Bruce and Rachel. Catwoman is both the easy and right answer to this situation. She's Batman's one true love but they'll never be able to be together, which creates for a very compelling story.
  13. What if the big prisoner at the end that throws the detonator out of the window turns out to be an unaltered Bane. It would open up the side story of his decent. I also think Riddler will be making an appearance. The theme is going to have to be coming out of the darkness as batman reclaims his respect.
  14. Just Watched Dark Knight and trust me it's the best super hero movie.Joker stole the show!
  15. First thing's first. It is going to be near to impossible to top The Dark Knight and Ledger's performance. Both were UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING! But if anyone can draft up an amazing, dark, complicated and compelling script with ambitious casting it's Chris Nolan.

All of this Bane, Clay-face talk is all well and good, but only fanboys and comic fans know those villains. The Joker is the perfect villain for this blockbuster franchise because everyone knows The Joker, even casual movie goers. Here's my suggestion...

Bring in Tala Al Guhl, Ra's Al Guhl's daughter played by Jennifer Connelly. She could have a revenge vendetta against Batman and could play a love interest/"two-faced" (no pun intended villain). Then bring in the only other well known villain that Nolan could make dark, scary, genius and as bad-ass as the joker....THE RIDDLER. The Riddler could be Batman's most intelligent foe, committing unspeakable crimes of violence and leaving complicated riddles for Batman and Alfred to figure out. This character should be played by....Daniel Day-Lewis.

DDL is the only other actor working today that has the immersive acting style who could bring a psychotic Riddler to Life.
  16. Oh, Please The Riddler, He's the 2nd coolest villain and The Joker can't be replaced so Please The Riddler!!!!!!
  17. I think Nolan should dig alittle deeper into the batman world and shine some light on some charcters we havent seen on the screen yet, yeah weve seen catwoman and poison ivy and penquin, what about the physco mad-hatter? Or clayface? Some nice ass cgi would be there and up the face of IMAX once again. Im dying to know if they even WILL do another one, but I want to see The Hatter and The Joker team up and get batman in a crazy ass tea party with all types of bombs n #?$$.
  18. NOT Bane, Riddler, Poison Ivy, Superman. Need really scary, over the chaos edge but still human like Joker, frightening ideas. Joker early on creates & manages a much more evil & scarred Catwoman (Eva Mendes, Olga Kurylenko, Michelle Rodriguez, not Jolie - has to be all sex, really tough), mainly to ~%%~$ with Batman who spends most of his time dealing with her & her cat torture of the innocents in every emotional, physical & verbal way (Batman beats her up at some point while she calls him names), only to have to face the Joker in the end. With Catwoman, he pushes Batman farther outside his moral limits, to the point that Batman would (at least appear to) do as much damage as Joker. Joker has to finally sacrifice himself for Batman, and that can only happens if he sees it as contributing to chaos. But honestly, I don't know who can do the Joker now. If the casting is wrong, forget it. BTW, Batman badly needs some real dialog, repartee even; he was deadly dull - "where is she? where is she?" And no replies whatsoever to Joker's last monolog - what, is he a moron?
  19. chris nolan wont ruin robin if he puts him in the movie
  20. I think it is going to be Catwoman...there was a little clue to that in the film.

If not the Riddler maybe up since they already nixed Two Face...or DID they??

I do think that this is the best Batman by far...
  21. Guys the Joker can't possibly come back... Heath Ledger is dead! I do think clayface would be a good choice maybe pretending to be batman. THe riddler is too much of a comparison to the joker and quite lame too. The penguin can only be played by danny devito no one else. If they did cat woman they could use charlize theron who does sort of look like Michelle Phfiefer.
  22. How about Ed Norton as The Ridler, he can play dark... and who in their right mind would want Angelina Jolie to ruin this franchise, did any one see the Lora Croft flicks??... I would rather see Scarlett Johansson, at least she can act...
  23. Don't make redemption the theme! Batman is not supposed to be everybody's friend, he is supposed to be a frightening vigilante...so why don't bring everybody's friend, everybody's ideal hero y'know that big flying boy scout and let Batman kick his ass (at least for a while)...Y'know what i'm talking about right? DKR the movie, don't think there could be better plot after Batman: Dark Knight, so why not make the best Batman comic story? I'm sure with Nolan directing it'd be awesome
  24. The theme is redemption. The main story will involve Penguin as the new head of the criminal underworld and Catwoman as a criminal/love interest. Also the Riddler will be involved as someone who is obsessed with figuring out Batmans idenity. I doubt they would put him in costume except maybe at the very end once he figures out the riddle of who is Batman. Also he will kill Reese because he doesn't want to be told who is Batman unless he figures it for himself. I have a feeling Bruce Waynes identity will be revealed at the end of part 3 and he will save Gotham from the Penguin who will have some diabolical plan but will need the help of a criminal, Catwoman, who will also be redeemed. I don't think the Riddler will be a serious threat just someone to bring out Batmans idenity and cause a little trouble.
  25. Well first off all aaron eckhart(Two Face) is signed to another movie so hell be in it and i would like to see maybe the penguin running for mayor of gotham and the theme could be corruption or betrayal
  26. Yeah, like a guy above has said, there may be redemption for the Batman. At the end of this movie he's hated, as he intended. A 3rd movie will delve into that and either his redemption or the end of Batman (not necessarily his death). The stakes will be higher and his task more difficult because of how hated he is. It will be a bit of back to where he started. No Lucius Fox, so what about the Batmobile and stuff like that?
  27. A third Batman movie would have to deal with redemption - and it would have to demonstrate Batman's necessity to Gotham. Two-Face might commit crimes in the background, leading up to a reveal at the end of the third movie - after all, (SPOILER) it should be assumed he is dead. Remember, Ra's Al Ghul didn't die on screen, but Nolan has suggested that he isn't coming back.

My guess is Reece will use the name "Edward Nigma" to threaten and manipulate Bruce Wayne/Batman - but it will only be a side story. The main plot would have to involve Gotham earning a brief reprieve from danger.

To me, that means introducing The Penguin as Gotham's new kingpin. It would trigger a gang war with Sal Maroni's men - and possibly the henchman Bane. Meanwhile, Two-Face could be committing crimes (unidentified) in the background.

This could lead to the mob declaring war on the Gotham PD, led by an assassin-type (Deadshot or maybe a re-worked Clayface - as a master of disguise). Batman will be forced to deal with Nigma (The Riddler) while stopping the mob's influence once and for all. In the end, Batman could capture Two-Face alive and become Gotham's hero when his name is cleared.

I wouldn't be surprised if the third installment ended with The Joker breaking out of Arkham (off-screen) with the help of Harley Quinn - meaning it's time for Batman to go back to work.

If Mr. Freeze is introduced, my guess is it will be as Dr. Victor Fries - and his role will be adapted to fit the modern universe. I think the best fit could be Alfred being diagnosed with cancer, keeping it a secret from Bruce, and meeting with his doctor, who turns out to be Fries (in a cameo). Catwoman could make an appearance, but she isn't so much a villain as she is a wild card. If she appears, it will probably be once or two - and briefly, enough to fascinate Batman/Bruce Wayne.
  28. Riddler.
    Serial Killer and Torturer.
Leaves Riddles like in the movie Zodiac.
Gotham is in fear and needs their hero back.
    Batman redeems himself.
instead of the silly green suit he could have the question marks tattooed on him.
  29. How come no one has mentioned Black Mask? Goyer actually said Black Mask was going to be the villain in Batman Begins but they changed it to Ra's Al Ghoul.

Think about it. Gotham is in disaray after the whole joker thing. The mob is fragmented. The Black Mask moves in and gains control of the mob and they start getting their power back. Bruce Wayne must go incognito as "Matches Malone" to get entrance in the criminal underground so he can find out who the real identity of Black Mask is.

Heck you can even have it end in some shocking scene where Black Mask is unmasked and you find out it was Harvey Dent. Even though this is not comic canon, but none of these movies have been.

Or you could take the whole Black Mask cult leader story line as well. Combine the Gotham Earthquake from the comic and the movie Apocolypse now. Gotham is devastated by an earthquake and Black Mask manages to consolidate most of the city's resources. He runs a cult of drug addicted junkies who do anything he says and he provides them with drugs. He basically rules Gotham in a deprived way like Marlon Brando in "Apocolypse Now" Batman must take him on and retore order and get his respect back.

There are so many cool angles with Black Mask. He should be the next villain. Forget Riddler, Cat Woman, Penguin, and Mr. Freeze. We have already seen them.
  30. The pressure mounts...the third movie goes even darker. Sticking with the theme, not so much the villan as Goyer has stated, it's time for Batman to cross the line.

Pushed beyond his limits when that villian tortures and kills that weasle from The Dark Knight into divulging Batman's true identity. Now armed with that truth, perhaps he targets Lucius and kills him, too. Maybe even Alfred. Beats the hell out of Bruce Wayne (not Batman) in public, without letting Wayne know that HE knows his secret idenitity.

Bottom line? Batman, still hunted for "killing" police officers and Dent, finally DOES cross the line. Pushed beyond his limits with nothing else to lose...he kills whichever villian has been manacing him, even if it was to save Alfred or some other reason. The dilemma?? Since everyone thinks he is a killer already, why not kill the villian??

With Lucius dead, or the snitch, or someone else he may truly care about...not to mention his mourning the loss of Rachel still...Batman goes over the edge. Crosses the thin line he's been walking. What a great way to leave the end of the third movie...not happy-go-lucky. Not redemption, at least not yet. Batman truly does that which people have been accusing him of while being hunted...he takes the life of whichever villian is used (preferably one).

The Riddler might be perfect for teasing Bruce Wayne in public. Or teasing the public in general over Batman's true identity.

    Go darker.
  31. Also, Bryan sort of pointed to something I hadn't thought of. Catwoman making an appearance makes a lot of sense with Rachel out of the picture. BW / Batman will need some female company this go round, but will it feel like rehashed territory a la Batman returns? With Nolan, I don't think it would. To me, thats the most logical scenario.
  32. Im voting for CLAYFACE!!!!!!!!!!!! and Harley Quinn, we need a girl folks
  33. Bane, Clayface, Firefly, killer Croc, The Mad Hatter, Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, The Ventriloquist and Scarface, The Riddler, and Bring back the SCARECROW!!! Maybe Poison Ivy and Catwoman
  34. I think that a female figure will definately be introduced, whether it is Catwoman (most likely), Poison Ivy, or Harley Quinn. Also, I believe that the Harvey Two-face character is over. New villains, meaning either the Riddler (hinted in the movie) or Thalia, will probably be introduced.
  35. Personally, I believe it will be Talia Al Ghul and Two Face as the main villains. Talia serves as both a love interest and adversary for Batman. Her connection to the first movie's villain is a great tie in to have her easily and realistically appear.

However, this is what I wish would happen (in addition to Two Face):

Have A. Poison Ivy and B. Harley Quinn as supporting villains.

    A. Great storyline, can be very realistic as an eco-terrorist, can serve as both a lover and formidable foe. May have some connection to Harvey Dent (as seen in Pretty Poison of the Animated Series.)

    B. Harley's relationships. Best friends with Poison Ivy, lover of the Joker. I don't see them recasting the role of the Joker, and I think this would be an interesting spin off of such a legendary character. Besides that, she is great comedic relief.
  36. Robin will be introduced. He will be the accountant that was about to reveal Batman's identity, but chooses not too after Batman saves his life.
  37. Due to the 'real' nature of his films, what do you think of the Mad Hatter, without his mind-control crap, just as the insane %%*$~??%% obsessed with Lewis Carrol.
  38. this movei was amazing...but why is robin not in any of them?
  39. Two villains "against" crime (Ra's Al Ghoul and Two-Face team up) against Batman, who has his hands full with a non sympathetic evil character (Riddler, Penguin, etc.)
  40. Phillip Seymour Hoffman playing the penguin would make for an awesome third movie. His acting is superb enough to match that of Heath's, but I also think there needs to be more than one villian in the next movie.
  41. "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight", are two great movies that mesh well together. The third Batman movie first off would have to include christian bale as batman, because without him there is no trilogy. I gues catwoman could work but that idea just sounds lame saying it. Having catwoman, the riddler, or penguin, would turn the series into the old batman movies. Scarecrow and two face would have to be the first ideas that come to mind since they aren't officially dead and are already in the first two. All i know is that the shouldn't advertise it like they did with the dark knight. I knew the whole story of the movie before i even saw it. I knew they were going to flip a semi truck, and batman was getting a new suit. Mentioning harvey dent in the commercials blew it for two face. showing the motorcycle and the scene when batman is battling joker in the streets ruined it as well. If you watch the trailer then the movie every major action scene is in the commercials. If joker came back it would suck cause you would compare it to Heath Ledgers performance. Robin could work but that takes away from the "darkness" the movies portray. poison ivy and mr. freeze would be wack because there would be too many special effects that would ruin the movie. In order to achieve a successful Batman 3, it would have to coincide with the first two and explain everything. you have to keep the same actors, and not get too outrageous. Thats why batman v.s. superman would never work. (what a dumb a** idea)
    "
  42. OK,the best villain would be BANE,why? Now that batman is on the run,he could somehow end up in a Batcave, which at that moment,he could meet BANE,where then Bane would break Batman's Spine..Also,a lead girl would be introduced, yes the cat line by Fox was random and could lead to catwoman coming in the 3rd movie, but i really doubt that,i really feel Harley Quinn should be brought on the 3rd movie..
  43. Obviously the problems with Batman being hunted will be the big issue of the next one. But they should use lesser known villains, I think the Reaper who is like Batman except he kills criminals as the Grimm Reaper, and for the same reasons he wants to stop criminals. The public and the police except Gordon will think that its Batman not the reaper killing people, and simultaneously you could have Deacon Blackfire or someone like him gathering the people that supported Batman in The Dark Knight, but now their hero is a villain so they will be lost and want to follow Blackfire's idea to take the city for themselves by force away from crooked cops and criminals (Hitler's Putsch) maybe they even execute people in prison. But this anarchy that is created in order bring about order can only be stopped by Batman. Who redeems himself and through the whole movie he has his identity issue. Is he Batman or Bruce Wayne, is he a Hero or Vigilante, is he a protector of Gotham or another misguided person who became a criminal. But Batman should die and have finality to it as he dies to save Gotham which only through his death does the people of Gotham change because of his sacrifice as they see that Bruce Wayne was Batman and that a man who had everything would sacrifice it for them. This is the best idea I can come up with.
  44. The theme is threesome. Talia and Selina against The Bat.
  45. just some thoughts:
rumor has it if a 3rd comes, its not til 2012.
-Killer Croc, Clayface, n Freeze don't fit the reality aspect.
-Bane could fit, so could Penguin
-some talk of Riddler already about.
-Catwoman, while good character, would be a corny romance for Batman because its too "bad", costumed people falling in love.
-I would say now that Batman has had love, lost love, and matured...they could have a Robin character too show Batman's parental-side.
BUT Nolan and Bale don't want him.
All in all, Idk, but my hunch is the riddler...maybe a female villain too.
  46. You guys are thinking in totally the wrong direction. Nolan needs to bring in some of the not-so-well known villians. As for the Penguin and Catwoman, both Goyer and Nolan's brother John have said that they completely disagree with going in that direction.

    Try these bad guys:

DEADSHOT-Floyd Lawton is a suicidal assassin who wears a colorful costume in the hopes that someone will shoot him. He is considered the second greatest assassin in the DC Universe, the first being Deathstroke.

MR ZSASZ-Victor Zsasz, a more or less "common" serial killer, keeps a tally of his victims by cutting new scars into his body with his trademark carving knife.

THE WRATH-An anti-Batman whose criminal parents are killed by then-rookie policeman Jim Gordon. As an adult, the Wrath becomes a cop-killer who copies many of Batman's methods.

HANGMAN-Hangman is a serial killer who murders police officers on every holiday of the year, leaving behind a version of the children's word game "Hangman" (with key letters missing) spelled with letters in blood on each new victim

Although I do think the Riddler would work pretty good, too -Gary Olman even let slip that that's who it might end up being.
  47. First off, they can not have Joker in the next movie! They could never get anyone to reprise Ledgers role as the Joker and have it be anywhere near as good. Forget Penquin, bring on the catwoman. Next to Joker easily the best villian. Or just focus on the gang/organized crime element which they have already established. "THE LONG HALLOWEEN" may be the perfect script, or starting point; Someone is killed every holiday and Batman fights to solved the crime while being hunted for the death of Harvey Dent.

Then after the third movie, do not have another actor or director make a fourth movie and in Twenty years Nolan & Bale return for the "Return of the Dark Knight" per Frank Miller's story line!!!!

Oh and forget Robin completely, does Bale's Batman seem like he needs help?
  48. Ok people...am i the only one who saw that the penguin is going to be the next villian? Marconi was dropped on and broke his legs/ankles and later you see him struggling to walk and a prominent cane when he gets in a limo. almost waddling like a penguin... Goggle Marconi and penguin and you will see that there is an actual penguin called the Marconi penguin...thank you, good night!
  49. To the guy that was talking abotu Azrael and Ra'a al Ghoul....i believe he died in the end of Batman Begins so it can't really happen....to be honest all of you i guarentee everything we think is going to happen won't...same thing happened in TDK
  50. I think that this trilogy has struck home with the intensity of the cross reference of villains from the comics to the screen. the final movie will need to be the ultimate blow. i am thinking the third movie will debut 2 or possible 3 major villains, as did the dark knight with the joker and two-face. my guess and biggest hope is that the third movie end with a battle between Batman and Bane. Bane is the DC Universe supervillain that releases all of gothams criminals so that batman must, in a sense, struggle to round them all up again. After he is done, bane confronts batman and beats him in a fight, ultimately breaking his back and forcing him into recession. i think the breaking of batman's back would effectively close the series and leave the audience knowing where bruce wayne lies in the future.
