‘Twilight’ Makes The Cover Of ‘EW’: What Do You Think?

My first thought is: WOW! “Twilight” made the cover of “Entertainment Weekly”!

I guess this means the cat is officially out of the bag, Twilighters. The little secret that you folks have lovingly shared for years is now famous enough to sell big-time magazines. And after the high-visibility release of next month’s “Breaking Dawn” and all the TV appearances, billboards and events that will build up to the movie’s release (including Comic-Con later this month), it’s just going to continue to grow.

But my second thoughts have to do with the image itself: First off, is that even Kristen Stewart? Wow, she looks so completely different than she does in real life! Honestly, she seems so glammed out to me that the girl-next-door charms of Stewart (and Bella for that matter) seem to have been muted, replaced instead with what looks like a generic woman on the cover of a Fabio romance novel.

Then there’s RPattz: That patch of bare chest will undoubtedly make a few thousand fangirls swoon. But when you read the books, did you guys imagine Edward’s bod to be quite so … well … pasty? As an Irish guy, I can tell you: It’s hard to land a girl when your chest is whiter than Ed Begley Jr. at a Wu-Tang Clan concert. Sure, it warms the heart to see the “Twilight” film sticking close to the undead realm Stephenie Meyer imagined, but let’s just hope Catherine Hardwicke inserts a scene where Edward spends some quality time on the beach.

But seriously: I do like the cool touch of having Bella hold the apple, and overall I think the image does a fine job of coveying the epic quality of their romance. You can clearly see that this is Romeo and Juliet, not another lame Matthew McConaughey-Kate Hudson flick using romance as a gimmick to suck $10 out of your pocket on date night. Get ready, Twilighters, because a whole lot of new fans are about to be vamped.

Enough about my thoughts: What do you think about the “EW” cover? How would you have done it differently, if at all? And how do you feel about the “Twilight” fanbase growing by leaps and bounds?

EWWWWWWWWWWW Edward looks like a ZOMBIE. The stylists and photographer obviously had no idea who the characters are.

AND THEY SHOULD HAVE STEPPED AWAY FROM THE PHOTOSHOP!

Horrible! I thought the photo was a fake at first. I can't believe EW is actually printing this crap.

I at first thought it was ok... but then i started to really look at it and it has really grown on me! i really love the symbolism that this picture conveys. If i had been able to take this pic i think i would have done if from a different pose, probably something more intimate but still a little distant... if that makes sense! I love that twilight is finally getting the recognition that it deserves!! after many fabulous twilight tuesday's and clips of the movie and behind the scenes and even the books being talked about all around the world it is awesome that the twilight fanbase is starting to take over the entertainment world!!!

Hey, I'm a huge fan, but I don't really care for the cover. Kristen doesn't look like Bella she is just staring off into space, and Rob looks creepy. Edward isn't supposed to look creepy, he's supposed to be "dazzling"! I would have changed the cover by having them looking into each others eyes and I would have buttoned Rob's shirt. Edward isn't a Fabio want to be walking around with his chest and abs hanging out!

I like the picture! I love the apple...but I think they went a little to over the top with robbert's makeup...he looks very very white and creepy....but kristen looks fabulous!! and I am very excited more people are going to find out!!! This movie/book deserves a lot more fans and credit!!!

I think people forget that Robert Pattinson is not Edward in real life and that Kristen Stewart is not Bella in real life. The picture looks like a cover of those cheesy harlequin romance novels, and frankly, Twilight is just a glorified harlequin romance novel.

I was pretty surprised when i saw the cover, I mean in the book Bella would never willingly wear that much makeup! I love the way she looks in the movie poster. (http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/05/06/twilight-poster-designer-ready-to-tackle-sequels/) Then Edward is pretty much described as a male god and he doesn't really look very...god-like. I would change: Stewart's makeup (to barely any) and that dress (to jeans and a tee). I'm not really sure what to do about Edward. Probably start with that hair...

Hi! I am a big fan! But personally the cover doesn't really do it for me. Sure it is nice but it doesn't look like it has anything to do with Twilight. Kristen doesn't look like Bella would. She looks more like a movie star. And Robert looks kind of insane, and ugly. He is suppose to be the most beautiful person one Earth. But in the picture he just looks like a drunken, ugly, normal guy. Also he seriously needs to button his shirt. I do not approve of the cover. They could have done a lot better of a job with it. But I have to admit, I am probably going to try to get my hands on one of them so I can read the article.

I never *hated* the cover, but I never loved it either. His hair is very poorly styled, and Kristen looks much more like a "vamp" then Rob.

To be honest, I would really like some promotional work where they're actually looking at one another.

tbh, it looks really terrible. too much photoshop went on, and though i know edward's supposed to be "unnatural" the cover just looks like crap (save for kristen, she looks pretty, though not at all bella). i think they totally over-glamorized the cover. i'm hoping they just photoshopped their heads onto there because i'd be pretty embarrassed if that's the way our "shoot" came out.

I honestly don't like the cover... at all. It looks very Harlequin romance novel cheesy, like you said, Larry. I mean seriously, as much as Robert's chest does make me swoon, the whole open shirt blowing in the wind and Kristen's entire look screams that. I hate what they did to Robert's hair. There is actually a really good manipulation where a girl just took his hair styled in one of the promo shots of Edward and it looks soooo much better. But yeah, I'm not feeling this cover whatsoever. They could have at least tried to capture Edward and Bella a lot more than make it a really generic theme.

They ruined my Robert. They ruined my Edward! That looks NOTHING like Edward. What the hell was that stylist thinking? Did they even do any research? His hair is bronze and his eyes are topaz or black. He's supposed to be hot. And Edward, excuse me, is not a trashy Harlequin romance novel hero. And Bella is not a Glamour Shots queen. I will never buy this magazine. Entertainment weekly blew it for me.

It's so breath taking I actually had a wonderful dream last night.
The whole idea of the setting and the pose gave me goosebumps to how dazzling the romance between Bella & Edward really is.
He loves her.She Loves him.
It's the forbidden love story we've been waiting for.

Um Kristen looks great but Rob isn't looking so great, mainly the hair and expression is messing him up. I hope they meant for it to look like a Harlequin book cover, very cheesy. But i'll still buy it regardless, probably, because of their pictures inside which I hope are better than the cover.

my first tought was OME but then I looked closer at the photo.. I thought that it was a manip xD Kristen looks too glamourys... bella is ordinary (but then which person that didn't know that would think ther's something wrong xD) and Rob..okey the hair looks wierd but it's just hair...but and this is a big but! what is up with the eyes?? blue? edward with blue eyes??? that's a big no no xD

This cover is horrible. I mean Bella is supposed to be timid and 'girl next door' and this photo does not convey any of that. Don't get me wrong she looks pretty, but that is not Twilight. And as for Edward, his lips are too red, and he is too white. I think everything is wrong. He is completely vacant in the eyes and looks like he is just there and didn't know the picture was being taken, like a deer in head lights, and that is almost the complete opposite of Edward. I think that this is a crappy cover for such an amazing series and it does not do the actors or the movie justice.

For starters I was just pumped to get a new picture! Then I wasn't sure if I liked it. However, once I thought about it it works. Edward isn't supposed to be tan, he doesn't exactly spend lots of quality time soaking up the vitamin D. I kinda like that he looks creepy as well. Let's not forget... He is dazzling, he loves Bella beyond reason, BUT he's fighting the urge to suck all her blood!!! That seems a bit creepy to me.
Bella is a bit too (to quote Larry) "glam" but Kristen looks stunning! Love the apple as well. All in all, I like it and will definitely be buying the magazine asap.

I agree with Trissa Green. I think I could only really like the movie if they kept Edward's shirt ON and buttoned!!! I love Twilight and everything about it, EW just does not do the characters any justice. Edward needs to be dazzling not a scary, creepy looking person and is really pale. I know that he needs to have really white skin but still! Also, Edward needs to have better hair.

I think I agree with everyone. Initial shock took my breath away (I think I was just so excited they were on the cover). Sometimes that's the over the top hype up ... Personally I think it takes away from the lure of the movie ... but it could still make non-Twilight fans curious enough to look inside(you mean there are actually people who haven't yet heard of it???)

It does say exclusive look into the movie. Who knows what goodies we'll get to see!
