Some people look down their noses at horror sequels, insisting that a âFriday the 13th Part VIIIâ or a âNightmare on Elm Street VIâ has no artistic merit. But true horror fans find significance as the Roman numerals get higher and higher, and at least one Hollywood starlet attributes her entire career to such sequels.
âWhen I was a little girl, what really made me want to be an actress was seeing âHalloweenâ parts IV and V, and the little girl that was in that,â revealed Meagan Good over the weekend at the MTV Movie Awards, praising the work of actress Danielle Harris in those films. âI was like, âI want to do that in a movie!â Iâd scream really loud, in the middle of the night [to practice].â
Now, after launching a successful career that has put her in such films as âD.E.B.S.,â âBrickâ and âYou Got Served,â Good is ready to get Roman herself in âSaw V,â as well as a high-profile original film from the filmmaker behind âTransformers.â
âI have âThe Unbornâ with Michael Bayâs company, itâs a scary movie,â she said of her current slate. âAnd I just did âSaw V.â â
Discussing the grisly franchise that has sold more movie tickets than any other, Good said: âI hadnât seen the first one. I ended up seeing it with a friend of the family, then both II and III, like back-to-back. And then I was like, âWait, I really, really like this.â I went and saw part IV in the theaters, and then when V came around I knew it would be a lot of fun.â
âIâm not allowed to say [anything about the plot], because they threatened to cut off my head,â she said. âBut it should be very fun and witty to watch.â âSaw Vâ is due in theaters this Halloween.
The actress so sexy that she once played a character named Beautifull revealed a bit more, however, when it came to the film from Bayâs production company.
âBasically, thereâs a little boy who gets murdered in the Holocaust, whose spirit is trying to possess certain people in his family,â she said of âUnborn.â âIt comes down the family chain in twins, because he was a twin. I canât say too much more, because I donât want to ruin the plot, but itâs really scary. Gary Oldman is also in it, Idris Elba, Cam Gigandet and Odette Yustman.â
So keep your eyes peeled for a lot of real Good screaming in the months to come, and who knows? Maybe sheâll launch a few acting careers of her own. But donât think the actress plotted out her career coming so full-circle. âNo,â she grinned. âIt just worked out that way.â
Are you as excited for this yearâs âSawâ film as you were in the past? Or has the franchise finally run its course?
