Emma Stone Haunts Matthew McConaughey, And His Virginity, In ‘Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past’

Emma StoneWith “Fool’s Gold,” “Failure to Launch,” “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days,” and “The Wedding Planner” all since the turn of the century, it’s no stretch to say that Matthew McConaughey has become the king of a certain type of romantic comedy – and by that I mean, the bad kind.

But to those looking to pre-judge his newest, the upcoming “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” co-star Emma Stone says look out - this ain’t your older brother’s rom-com.

“Matthews in a different place now, and obviously a lot has happened since ‘How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days,’” the star of “Superbad” and the upcoming “House Bunny” told MTV News. “This [movie] is really a lesson in falling in love and not taking the path of just sleeping around. It’s kind of a very different lesson.”

The lesson may be different, but it’s not a new one. The movie, where McConaughey’s Ebenezer Scrooge-like character is visited by visions of his former girlfriends, is, of course, a riff on Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.”

But the best thing about getting visited by visions of former girlfriends? You get older, but they say the same age.

“I’m the girl he loses his virginity to,” Stone said of her character in the movie. “She’s out of her mind. It was a lot of fun [to perform].

“I’m perfecting my ‘Ooohh.’ I like to throw a sheet over my head at my house and just pretend to be a ghost,” she added, laughing. “It’s s good time!”

Agree? Are you looking forward to “Ghosts of Girlfriend’s Past”? I’ll admit, for someone who doesn’t usually care for this sort of thing, I think the set-up has a lot of potential for laughs. Sound off on your thoughts below.
