Casting Call: ‘Beavis & Butt-Head, The Live-Action Movie’

Beavis & Butt-Head In the eyes of an entire generation, man’s eternal struggle to define himself and his purpose is best summed up by nine immortal words.

“I am Cornholio! I need T.P. for my bunghole!”

Recently, we were able to get a rare interview with Mike Judge, the creator of such pop-culture goodies as “Beavis & Butt-Head,” “Office Space,” “Idiocracy” and “King of the Hill.” In addition to unearthing major details about his next film “Extract,” Judge told us that Beavis & Butt-head are making their return in a brief intro to Volume 3 of his cartoon festival “Animation Show,” and could soon become a live-action movie.

“For some reason, I used to hate the idea for years,” he said of a “Beavis & Butt-head” movie starring two living, breathing, heh-heh-heh-ing actors. “Now, I think maybe there’s something there.”

Naturally, the next step is imagining two actors who could step into the roles. (Click here for more of Judge’s thoughts on a live-action B&&B movie)

My first thought was to imagine Seann William Scott as Beavis, and although he might be getting a bit old, I can still imagine him pulling his t-shirt up over his head and calling upon “The Almighty Bunghole.” Judge agreed with the name but wanted Scott to play the other half of the duo, reasoning: “I guess Seann William Scott’s kinda got Butt-Head eyes.”

Judge also remembered that Johnny Depp once wanted to play Beavis – with Marlon Brando as Butt-Head! For my money, I could see Topher Grace as Butt-Head, slapping Seann William Scott upside the head and dismissively muttering “dumb-ass.” Then again, Jon Heder would seem to have been born for the role.

Dust off that casting couch, my fellow Burger World employees, and tell me what you think: Is a live-action “Beavis & Butt-Head” movie a good idea? What actors would you cast in the main roles?

Come on! SPENCER PRATT looks JUST like Beavis. it's freaky. He probably can't act, but he would look pretty good on a movie poster mock-up!

This is a terrible idea. I would cast no one in the roles because this should be an animated movie or it will flop.

I would love to see a live-action B&&B. Even if it totally blows. As far as actors go... definitely John Heder as Butt-Head, and Scott would make an excellent Beavis, but there is the issue of his age. Maybe Danny Masterson(Hyde from 70s) as Beavis? Or his brother, Christopher Masterson. (Francis from Malcom)

I am totally stoked at the possibilities of a real live Beavis & Butt-head movie. I know most people think it would suck, but I don't think Mike Judge knows how to make a crappy movie. Basically, Idiocracy had an entire society of people going "huh -huh-huh-heh-huh-huh" and that movie ruled!

Horrific idea, it never works. Even live action take offs of non-cartoon subjects have uniformly been major disappointments where the real protagonists were so strongly characterized in the original material (example, "Fear and Loathing", and "O.C. and Stiggs"). Or did you think the "Flintstones" was a good idea? Forget it.

Fear and Loathing is too good, who cares if its a flop what do "they" know. I do fear the idea of this movie, that wouldn't stop me from dishing out 7 or 8 bucks to watch it, I am sure there are more like me. Just to have the comfort of seeing my two greatest childhood friends once more. I think everyone agrees with me when I say I miss them.

I ould be super stoked to see a Beavis a Butthead movie, wheter it be animated or live action, to be honest id be happier if they jsut brough the show back and made new episodes lol. I would still shell out the cash to see the movie though! as far as my picks go, Sean Wiliam Scott would make a great Beavis, and ill go Johhny Knoxville, Butthead. Also Lumbergh and Morton from office space were first animated charcters before they hit live action and that movie rocked!

When i first saw the headline on Yahoo: "Beavis and Butt-head to return to the big screen" i couldnt breathe for 2 whole minutes. I still love them, uncontrollably. Then I read the rest. Oh the disappointment! Why not just do another animated movie? Its what most would rather see, whilst from a 'makers' point of view where money rules, surely its cheaper, no?? Whoever they got, i could imagine Beavis and Butt-Head watching it and just looking at each other horrified. I just cant see them working as real people. Whenever someone I know did an impression of them it was embarrassing, you just wanted to slap them. Better be darned good actors...

Jon Heder has the perfect teeth for Butt-head, but Beavis is a hard one to cast. I think a good idea is to have the cartoon characters to come on after the movie and say "uhhh, that sucked, huh huh Huh"

I think Jon Heder and Matt Besser of the Upright Citizens Brigade would be the perfect match; however, that Spencer Pratt kid does give off the Beavis vibe and Sean William Scott does have Butthead eyes.

I still prefer my first picks tho. Even tho it would be great to see a live action version I think it would ruin it.

I have always wante to see this. When I was younger I said if Mike Judge doesn't do it. I will do what it takes to have it happen. I am ready for it. How about a Beavis and Butthead as parents cartoon special?

I think it'd be ok to have a liveaction beavis and butthead movie so long as it's casted right. Personally, I would hate the idea of John Heder being cast as beavis or butthead. He always plays the same stupid role in any movie he's been in and seeing him portray beavis or butthead in the same manner he portrays his other movie characters would ruin it for me. I think Tom Green would make an excellent hippie-teacher though.
