I don’t know why these crazy sequels surprise me anymore but well, I’m kind of shocked. They’re really going ahead with a “Point Break” sequel. That’s right, and what’s the big news today is that this won’t be one of those straight-to-DVD knock-offs. Nope, an actual one-time kinda sorta respected director is attached to this one…Jan de Bont. The original “Point Break” writer is scripting. And Keanu Reeves just told his agent to tell the studio he’s on holiday.
Then again, let’s not forget that de Bont directed Reeves in the original “Speed.” Could this be an elaborate play to lure the star back? I think they’ll have better luck with Busey.
But enough about me. What do you think? Does a “Point Break” sequel get you excited or make you want to pull a Bodhi and jump out of an airplane?

i loved POINT BREAK and everything it represented. i even loved the 3 endings it had one after another lol. but lets be real this film wasn’t groundbreaking or earthshattering filmmaking and a sequel wouldn’t damage it’s reputation, if anything it would introduce the film to a new generation (i mean i’m 22 and you wouldn’t belive how many young people i come across that have never heard of the film). i think JAN DE BONT in the directors chair will be interesting and a reunion with Keanu Reeves would be amazing bringing the intensity they brought to SPEED. and c’mon Reeves don’t say no to this. if you can say yes to Bullock for THE LAKE HOUSE you can say yes to DeBont for JOHNNY UTAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the second one didn’t work, why would a third one?

c’mon they have to have reeves in there, even as a mentor sort of roll and he could use the “young, dumb and full of cum”. i’m excited if they do move forward, i’m a big reeves fan, but i can wait till the dvd.

c’mon, reeves has to be in there, even as a mentor type of roll, so he can deliver the line, “young, dumb and full of cum”. i’m excited if this does go thru, but i can wait until the dvd comes out.

Don’t get me wrong - I LOVE the first movie. But there really should be a statute of limitations on sequels.
I can tolerate the Indy sequel because Harrison Ford, while old enough to be my dad, is still hot. And since he’s playing a much older Indy, I can go with that. And Harrison is still a damn fine actor.
But… Rocky? Did we REALLY need to go there? Rambo? Seriously, Stallone’s carreer died about the time his marriage with Brigette Nielson did. This is like Arnold suddenly jumping out of office in California and saying “I want to do another Conan flick!” Oh, please, Gods, no. The ones we are MORE than enough. Please and thank you. Now could I see Conan being redone with a new, sexy actor with serious amped up special affects and doing well? Absolutely. But don’t do sequels. Take a tip from Batman, and just start over. Really.

Point Break is far and away the best movie in the history of movies, with Bodhi being the best character in the history of charaters. The amount of unbelievable one liners that this movie has produceded is second to none. “Brah” this and “Brah” that. Come on, is there anything better. I am all for the sequel, Johnny Utah or not. All I care about is that the script is full of the one-liners that make this movie as classic as it is (i.e. “Utah, Gimme two” and “Lose something, Brah”)
