Fate Of ‘Ghost Rider 2’ Remains Uncertain, Confirms Mendes

'Ghost Rider'“Iron Man 2,” “The Avengers,” “Captain America,” and “Thor.” It’d be hard to pack more awesome in Marvel’s upcoming slate than is already there, especially now that they own their own properties and can cross mingle their franchises.

But what of the titles that aren’t there? Films like “Magneto,” “Spider-Man 4,” and “Ghost Rider 2.” Are they still in the pipeline?

The simple answer, of course, is that Marvel doesn’t own the rights to those films, and that they are going ahead as previously scheduled with other studios.

Or not.

Consider “Ghost Rider 2.” Although producer and former Marvel head honcho Avi Arad claimed last year that they were developing a sequel to the Nic Cage starrer about Johnny Blaze, a hero who is literally hell on wheels, that plan has either stalled or been completely abandoned, said star Eva Mendes, insisting to MTV News that she hasn’t so much as heard even the teensiest rumor about a big-screen follow-up.

Warts and all, it’s not like the first film wasn’t a big success at the box office, scoring over $115 million in its domestic run.

So what gives? Would you like to see a “Ghost Rider” sequel? If so, who would you want to see portrayed? Aqueduct? Zodiak? Blackout? Do you want Nic Cage and Mendes back? Or would you rather Blaze made a cameo in another of those upcoming films? Sound off below.

ghost rider was a horrible mess. it was just another example of how they didnt approach the material right or gave it any justice. i mean seriously they gave the film to the director of daredevil (another property he didnt do right). iron man was a comic to film that was done right. batman beigns was done right. the first 2 x-mens and spideys were done right. ghost rider was not and i think it was easily forgotten by audiences since it came out.

I can’t bring myself to sit through another disaster like Ghost Rider. Nick Cage made that movie an abortion. Now that Marvel seems to be back on track (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk) maybe they can pull off a better film for Flamehead, but why risk it. Give him a cameo in some other movie. Hell make him an honorary avenger (and yes, I know he was never an Avenger in the comics).Just for the love of god, don’t let Cage anywhere near it

ugh… I hated the first Ghost Rider..
plot was horrid, graphics was ok, actors were horrible in it also. they didn’t fit their characters.

Personally i am getting sick of marvel movies.
its like if the movie industry is starting to lack creative new ideas for movies.

the first ghost rider was seriously one of the worst movies i’ve seen in the last 2 years. Please don’t make a sequel.

I agree the first Ghost Rider was out of line and wasn’t all there, but I’m a comic fanactic and I think Marvel is going to turn around with their perspective and control. If there going to make a second Ghost Rider, please let it have his enemy, vengeances in it.

Ghostrider was one of the worst movies I saw last year. I liked the main cast, but felt the story and cheesy special effects let them down.

Hrm. I liked Ghostrider. But, then, I came into the comic late. What I would love to see I know would likely never happen. I would love to see Ghost Rider as done when Noble Kale was the host… but, trying to explain how Blackheart got ahold of Roxanne’s soul might be dicey. *smirk* Or how Johnny’s mother fits into it all.

But, truly, they don’t have to use Johnny Blaze or even Kale as the host - has anyone given THAT any thought? There’s others. *evil smile* Or, well, ONE other worth doing a movie about.

  8. SpiderMan Says:

Ghost Rider was an ok film, compared to spiderman 3, it was great!

  9. Bob O Says:

Ghost Rider was an action light mess of a movie. However, the character is great and I loved the cast. Do Ghost Rider 2 but do it right this time. Actual action and fight sequences, more Eva skin and an intelligent plot.

I would like to see Ghost Rider cross paths with another superhero like Spider-man or Punisher. It would have to be a movie where the other superheroes franchise has taken off. GR is a pretty cool dude. How awesome would it be if GR rode his motorcycle into NYC in a Spider-man movie where they would battle each other then come to grips that they are on the same side, and then they defeat the villian. I’d pay to see that.
