Like Edward Cullen eyeballing a deer in the middle of the woods, you can be forgiven if you drool a bit while looking at the first official “Twilight” poster. It’s an MTV exclusive, it’s a thing of beauty, and it was photographed by 18-year-old wunderkind Joey Lawrence.
You can read our interview with Joey over on the MTV Movies page, but here’s an extra-juicy bit of news: Lawrence has signed on to shoot all the posters for “Twilight.” When I was on the set recently, virtually everyone I spoke with brought up plans for sequels, and if those dreams come true Joey would likely return as well. (Click the poster for the high-rez version!)
“Yeah,” he told us recently, swinging by our Santa Monica offices. “I’ll be doing all the next movies.”
Lawrence knew that the first poster had to focus on the key relationship of Edward and Bella, and said he’d like to keep the subsequent images focused on the characters and their couplings.
“I think they’ll probably be keeping the mood pretty dark and edgy still,” he said of his plan. “I’ve read the first script, and I know what happens in the next books just from talking to the actors, so the mood might change a little bit, but the style will stay the same.”
Lawrence also revealed that he’s been meeting with “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke, so that they can synchronize their overall plan.
“I think it’s going to be interesting with her,” insisted Lawrence, who hopes to become a director himself someday. “When I read the script, I realized this is not her kind of movie. Because she’s done like ‘Lords of Dogtown’ and ‘Thirteen,’ so when I read the script I was kind of like, ‘That’s a vampire movie,’ but then to find out that she was doing something with it, I think it’s going to be different than just a normal kind of teenage love story. I think it might be interesting to see.”
We’d expect nothing less, right Twilighters? I want to read the thoughts of each and every one of you (and believe me, we all do!), so here’s your TT question of the week: Is the poster, better, worse, or exactly as you imagined? What, if anything, would you have done differently than Joey?

but, I don't know it isn't what I imagine. It's an amazing work, and both of the characters are beautiful the shot was taken perfectly but, (there always a but) it isn't what the book portraits. In my way of reading twilight in this case not new moon and eclipse. The are forbidden to each other but, the want each other so much there are willing to break the rules which they do. And in this pic I see Bella for some reason WANTING Edward not having him. And he is like not looking for her instead he is wishin he wasn't there and her face is too much and his isn't. So equal love (in twilight) for equal lovers.
But away from my comment the poster is perfect for people who haven't read twilight.
it's amazing!
Like everyone that read the Twilight Series, I can't wait for this movie to come!
It's a pity that probably, the international release will be a little later that the US release... I'll wait anxiously to see the movie here in Brazil! =D
Tks MTV!
can't wait for future posters :]
:DD
great poster!
Kristen looks amazing! :)
I LOVE ITTTTTTT.
Summit should do like Sony and have a poster contest.
All and all I'm disappointed with the poster but I don't want to bash the photographer or mtv. I'm very greatful for everything. Just not happy with the poster.

Hey Alyssa it's Mer! lol
They screwed this up and Molly and I will be writting nasty hate letters! Alyssa wanna join?
I know you!
Anyways i agree with her. It's horrible. How could they do that to the best movie ever created.
Molly and I will be writting hate mail. Alyssa, wanna join?
They aren't looking at each other, and i think that is pretty crucial. Just to get the full effect of their relationship. But the lighting is AMAZING. He really does look supernatural.
really great. but the only part that nags me, and i am only saying this because it really does nag me, is that edward does not look at bella lovingly. all i have been seeing is his intensity, and sure, it is pretty good, but i dont see his LOVE.
Hey Alyssa! Let's write hate mail together. Go call Molly!
Kristen looks beautiful and all you have to do is take one look at Edward to know he's something that isn't exactly human.
And you say this kid is only 18? Wow!
I love it!
I love how Edward is kind of above Bella to show protection. The facial expressions and the lighting is just PERFECT! Great job Joey! I can't wait to see the poster for New Moon!!
Thank you Larry! Twilight Tuesdays are my saving grace. :-)
The way i pictured it was like this; Edward offering you the red apple.
good? good?
Is it not perfect?
edward is gorgeous, robert pattinson is going to be so amazing in this role.
and kristen is going to be a perfect bella.
and this poster is just so good.
i can't wait, why can't december come sooner? :(
I always thought that it would be really cool if one of the posters was simply the cover of the Twilight book. You know the image of the hands holding the apple? It's a very easily recognisable image in my opinion, not to mentic iconic and powerful.
Would be cool to just go to the movies and see that poster on a wall-simply a date of the movies release at the bottom.
i really hope they don't use this. sorry. it's just so... awkward.
"Yummy."
Oh, and I do believe Mr. Lawrence should pick up the books and read them himself =]
Also, love you Larry!
Love the eyes.
---However.. I think I would angle Edward down a little more so it looked like he wasnt hanging from the ceiling or something.. and maybe have the forest behind it or something. But other than that, BRILLIANT, I love the mood and the focus of the poster, because this is who its all about. Bella and Edward. I love their expressions too.. totally them. Love it.
but other then that, I think it's perfect.
