‘Twilight’ Poster Photographer To Continue Working On Franchise

Like Edward Cullen eyeballing a deer in the middle of the woods, you can be forgiven if you drool a bit while looking at the first official “Twilight” poster. It’s an MTV exclusive, it’s a thing of beauty, and it was photographed by 18-year-old wunderkind Joey Lawrence.

You can read our interview with Joey over on the MTV Movies page, but here’s an extra-juicy bit of news: Lawrence has signed on to shoot all the posters for “Twilight.” When I was on the set recently, virtually everyone I spoke with brought up plans for sequels, and if those dreams come true Joey would likely return as well. (Click the poster for the high-rez version!)

“Yeah,” he told us recently, swinging by our Santa Monica offices. “I’ll be doing all the next movies.”

Lawrence knew that the first poster had to focus on the key relationship of Edward and Bella, and said he’d like to keep the subsequent images focused on the characters and their couplings.

“I think they’ll probably be keeping the mood pretty dark and edgy still,” he said of his plan. “I’ve read the first script, and I know what happens in the next books just from talking to the actors, so the mood might change a little bit, but the style will stay the same.”

Lawrence also revealed that he’s been meeting with “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke, so that they can synchronize their overall plan.

“I think it’s going to be interesting with her,” insisted Lawrence, who hopes to become a director himself someday. “When I read the script, I realized this is not her kind of movie. Because she’s done like ‘Lords of Dogtown’ and ‘Thirteen,’ so when I read the script I was kind of like, ‘That’s a vampire movie,’ but then to find out that she was doing something with it, I think it’s going to be different than just a normal kind of teenage love story. I think it might be interesting to see.”

We’d expect nothing less, right Twilighters? I want to read the thoughts of each and every one of you (and believe me, we all do!), so here’s your TT question of the week: Is the poster, better, worse, or exactly as you imagined? What, if anything, would you have done differently than Joey?

  1. i Think the Way the way Edward(Robert) And Bella(kristen) are posed is perfect it really describes they're relation ship he can kill her but he loves her and his face just looks like he want to protect her just like in the books i read all three like 3 or 4 times i love them and i can't wait for the fourth and the movie so this is really making me happy Like i said it PICTURE PERFECT lol :)
  2. I never really thought about how the psoter will look, but i think they did an awsome job.
i agree with a few people that say that theres not enought Edward on the cover but, he still looks as HOT as ever with those eyes and how he's just standing and.....everything looks marvilis.
And Kristen just looks gorgeous, she kinda looks like she made out of plastic, but she still looks like she came off a run-way.
Over all, I LOVE it, you did a vamptastic job!!!
  3. I think it does look perfect for the book. they look a little different than I imagined but I wasnt the one casting lol. But anyways I dont think Kristen/Bella looks airbrushed, I think its the lighting and the angle is meant to make her face the main focus of the poster, not her hand.
  4. novel yang bener2 keren.. smpe fall in love beneran ma edward!!!
  5. This is a truly amazing picture it's very nice and makes you think. Kristen is so great for Bella and Robert is great too. I love them both.

    Poster is beautiful.
  6. The poster is perfect.
The intensity is ideal and how he towers over her is absoloutely fantastic.
Somehow though, even though everything about "Edward" is "Edwardy", it's not right.
He just doesn't match the standards i had for Edward.
  7. i didnt know what to expect of the movie or poster. But this poster is perfect, Joey designed it in a way that makes you crave to see the movie. So you can see for yourself what this poster portrays, it makes you also want to see if this movie will measure up to stephenie meyers incredible book. I cant wait for breaking dawn or the twilight movie. But i will be hoping that they will be able to satisfy my expectations!
  8. LOVE it!!!!! It's just perfect. Really hott!!!!!!!!! I swear I'll go crazy waiting for December 12th. August 2nd too.
  9. Hi, HUGE fan, haha, love the books sooooo muuch, just wanted to say a few things. I think the poster is great, I am an obsessive fan, I can barely sit still, I want the movie to come out!!!! Here is a list of people i expected to look like IF there was a movie, (then I found out there was).

    Expeted:
Alice (OMG! EXACTLY like i imagines)
    Carlisle (How I imagined)
    Jessica Stanley
    Charlie
    Rene
    Rosalie
Bella(I was thinking to myself, "If Twilight were a movie, I bet Kirsten Stewart would play Bella". Then I heard of the movie and almost had a heart attack!)
    Victoria
These people I KNOW will do great, but didnt imagine:
    Edward
Jacob Black (I HATE him, ergg! he keeps flirting with BELLA! He needs to stop fantasizing!!!! sorry.)
    Laurent
    James
    Renee
    Esme
    Eric
    Michael
    Emmet
    Jasper (HE's cute!) haha
    Angela
Where is a picture of Billy Black>
I think thats it! I think the poster is great, it shows how fragile Bella is, how protective edward is standing over her, not in a scary way though, kirtsten is beautiful, edward is sooo cute! And now that I think of it, he is PERFECT for the role of Edward! Yay! Bye, Good Luck on the movie!
  10. i still think they could have chosen a better edward but what can i say the picture is great sorry im still bitching about edward im getting a little used 2 him but still... but yeah LOVE the pic. it was well done. = )
  11. wow, i'm in love with this picture. edward's eyes, their facial expressions, the pose, the saying by edward and everything else! great job for whoever made this! i can't wait to see the movie, to compare it to the book. this WILL be the best movie of 2008, no doubt. :)

  13. I absolutely ADORE this poster!
Rob looks like Edward... He's kinda scary looking though.
    Kristen looks EXACTLY like Bella.
    Its amazing.
    Good Work people!
Can't wait for the movie. :)

    *wink wink*
  15. I LOVE it! I really can't think of anything else to put, seeing as everyone took it already. lol
I love Edward, ecpecially the eyes!!! He looks so dark, and mysterious, and... and... Oh, I don't know, Edwardish. lol
  16. OMG! This is exactly what I imagined!! Rob looks completely like Edward and this totally sets the mood of danger, love, and overall dangerous and HOT!!!I probably would have put faded red eyes in the backround to show a slightly different mood but overall same thing for the movie. It would have showed Edward's evil side and what he could become and what he's not, also the hunters' eyes James does set an important role to show Edward's true passion for Bella. But honestly I LOVE THIS POSTER IT"S AMAZING!!!
  17. i like it a lot, but i think they shud've focused more on edward, i just love to look at him!!!!! lol.
  18. i like it a lot, but i think they shud've focused more on edward, i just love to look at him!!!!! lol. he is pretty hot. but i think the poster is really very good. i like it
  19. I would have made Bella and Edward I dont know look more life-like but overall its like spine tingling!!! Awesome job! :)
  20. OMG!!!! i loves it!! yay!! im sooo excited!! cant wait!
